“Exhausting - but wonderful!”
Reviewed 14 December 2011

More physical effort than I have ever put into a day - multiplied by 14 for a two week stay!

Great food, an idyllic setting (white sands, warm, turquoise waters, monkeys in the lush green trees, coral reefs, a still creek), lovely people (the coaches, the other staff, the local people), creative and different exercises (boxing, kettle-bells, body circuits, par cour, climbing, balancing, running, swimming, throwing, skipping....) and a non-competitive but highly motivational ethos made this a trip to remember.

I have never sweated as much in my life (despite taking sport very seriously 30 years ago) but you set your own pace and push yourself as far and as hard as you want. All the time being encouraged, reassured, helped and assisted by the highly trained expert coaching team. 10 guests to 5 coaches means you get a lot of one on one time.

The talks on lifestyle, diet (this is NOT a fad diet but a scientific approach to how digestion works and emphasises lifestyle over diet at all times), movement, evolution and cooking and preparing food are fascinating and enjoyable and delivered in the shade of palm-trees while sipping freshly made fruit and veg juices.

The rooms were excellent (though a little hot truth be told) and the facilities and equipment of the highest quality.

I would recommend anyone to go on this - not cheap but, as many reviewers have mentioned, life-changing.

I have wanted to do the Wildfitness holiday for several years. We finally managed to do it November 2011. It turned out to be much more than what I had expected. I had no previous knowledge of what wild fitness was all about. Wildfitness is getting back to our hunter gatherer roots and challenging our body in such a way that was totally exhausting but at the same time so much fun. I arrived with a badly healed knee from an operation in May 2010 and left with a fully functioning one. What a result!

The coaches were so fit and knowledgable. I was most impressed that there were also local Kenyan coaches and helpers. They were all so inspiring! The people on your holiday become your Tribe and we all stick together to help each other achieve our best. I have never been with a group of people that I have enjoyed being with so much. The food was delicious and the kitchen staff extremely knowledgable about nutritious diets. Baraka House and the surrounding area was the perfect environment to get back to basics and get fit.

Room Tip: Room one is the best but all are excellent!

Wildfitness is a spectacular place with a knowledgeable, dedicated staff. Going to an exotic place, eating delicious, healthy food and returning home with a fitter body--what could be better than that? I am already planning my next visit.

My second Wildfitness holiday at Baraka House. I was concerned it couldn't possibly live up to the first one but I was wrong. I’ve had the most amazing time, developed my fitness further. And this has easily been the best one yet! See you next time!!

An incredible life changing experience, phenomenal coaches and training, who helped me realise a far better way of training, got me fit in two weeks and created a complete paradigm change in my mind on health and fitness as well as lifestyle. Mixed with being situated in the most incredible location, as well as having fantastic accommodation, incredible food, combining the best of fresh seafood, meats and such a variety of salads and vegies all cooked with such flavour, makes this trip a unique and special fitness holiday. Not to mention the amazing deep tissue massages, when those muscles really needed it, all of it was awesome!
Well done Tara and of course all your team particularly Jess for creating the ultimate life changing fitness holiday and well done to all the coaches who kept us motivated and kept us going even when we did not think in our minds we could do it. As Jess would say JFDI.

This was by far the best holiday i have ever been on. Set in the beautiful Barak House on the stunning Kenyan coast, Wildfitness is a world away from the stresses if London. I did the 9 day kick start course with 9 other great guests and came home rejuvinated, body and mind. It sounds rather cheesy, but i feel a difference person with a new perspective on coping with stress, resting properly, exercising intensively and eating very very well. They really do teach you a wild lifestyle.
To give you a flavour of the day, you get up when the sun rises (i slept with the doors/windows open so woke up to the dawn light and lapping waves - magical), stretching at 6am, first session at 6.30 (boxing, kettle bells, running around dunes, swimming in blissfully beautiful sea creek, walk through the local village to the wild running track in the mangroves, the list goes on). Then back to the house for breakfast (delicious) a hours down time, then another session which was often a discussion about wild eating, or an assesment of your running style, or a massage.
Then lunch (again, always delicious). and then a rest during the peak heat of the day, ready for an end of day session. Dinner and then bed. If you would like to do a holiday that sets a defined routine for you to push your own boundaries and eat incredily well, whilst getting plenty of time to rest and enjoy the Kenyan coast i would put this top of your list.
It is pricey, but it is a quality course - not pristine 5 star and posh, but perfectly simplistic with the emphasis on quality coaching and food. And when you get there you dont have to pay for anything .
The staff couldnt be more friendly and helpful. They make you feel like Baraka House is your home which is so relaxing.
I'm going to make it my annual MOT and will definitely be looking at the courses in Crete and the IOW.

Room Tip: The sea views from Baraka House are great
