The resort was very nice, but it is not the 4 star resort that it claims. It is more like a very nice 3 star resort. The difference being the lack of attention to details. Little things like having a reception party for the guests, but not preparing enough food for the reception so most of the guests did not get any. The resort also seemed to skimp on some things which led me to believe that they were cheap. We had to continually ask for replacement soap and the amount of wine that they would pour into your wine glass was just barely a fourth of the glass.

With the above being said, I would go back to the resort. The setting was beutiful and the staff wonderful. We had an extremely relaxing week. As reported out in previous reveiws there was construction going on during our stay. The resort did a decent job of trying to limit the impact to our stay. The staff spoke sufficent English.

The food provided at the resort was very good and the chef was wonderful. Prices were a little high for the area. We eventually found our way to several very good restaruants that were located a 10 minute walk down the beach. These restaruants were half the price of the Koyao Resort.

The Koyao Resort provided many excellent activities, but again the prices were high for the area. There is a resort within walking distance down the beach that offers the same activities much cheaper. In fact, sveral of the guest at the Koyao Resort went to the other resort to book their activities. If you do take one of the island tours at the Koyao Resort ask for Sword... he is an excellent guide.

Overall it is a great place to enjoy a wonderful island.

I gave Koyao Island Resort a 3 but the island is a 10 out of 5. The views, the island, the people--all unbelievable. Koyao Island Resort is definitely the most "luxurious" resort on the island (until the new Everson opens) but that's not saying much when you look at the other accommodations. The grounds are gorgeous, the beach amazing, the pool awesome.

The rooms were alright, but the bugs were really bad and the Koyao Island Resort did nothing to help alleviate that except a mosquito net above the bed. Our bathroom was always covered with mosquitoes as was our one closet, found dead bugs in our clothes for a week. They brought us fruit upon arrival and then never removed it after a couple of days--it rotted and we had to bring it to the front office--covered with bugs. They really should have some candles or bug repellent spray or plug in device to help a little.

I was also upset with the lack of honesty from the management before arriving I had emailed multiple times about construction and they told me about a new hotel being built and that they would keep us away from it. We got there and there was construction on either side of the resort and we were butted against it. But the most noise came from the construction at the Koyao itself, which they never told me about. They were redoing a bar one day and there was constant power tools going for a day and half. I know it was the low season when we went but they didn't need to make us feel like it was--we had to leave the resort just to get some quiet.

But I want to emphasize that the island is amazing, biking around meeting people, finding beaches, and taking day trips to the surrounding island for swimming and snorkeling (if you stay at Koyao try to get Sword as your guide). It was absolutely awesome. And Koyao Island Resort is the nicest place to stay on the island by far, but it could have been a lot more pleasant to stay at.

The four of us were a bit nervous to travel half way around the world and stay on a secluded island, but that feeling melted away (no, not from the heat) as soon as we arrived. The very friendly staff met us on the beach, gave us a cool towel and drink and showed us to our lovely family bungalow. It's everything the pictures portray with beautiful teak, thatched roof, private outdoor bathroom and comfy louge chairs.
The spa was wonderful... be sure to experience the Thai massage with herbal compress (heavenly!). We spent a majority of our stay on the beach loungers reading, chatting and napping. If you are looking for night life, crowded beaches, vendors and $7 foot massages, this place is definitely not for you. This is all about tranquility and relaxation.
The restaurant was nice with a modest selection of tasty dishes, but very warm and buggy in the evenings. We figured out it was much nicer to have room service dinner in the bungalow at no extra charge.
The day trip around the islands on a longtail boat was a highlight as well as zipping around the island on a motorbike. Be sure to rise early to view the spectacular sunrises!
Drawbacks, we stayed in March (the beginning of the very hot season) and the bungalows do not have a/c, only fans. This made sleeping a bit difficult at first. Another was the construction going on next door. It wasn't overwhelming, but on a quiet island where you could hear a pin drop, the occaisional hammering did at times get annoying. Be sure to ask if this is still going on. Also for the budget minded, a tip is to bring along a bottle or two of your favorite alcohol to toss in the refridgerator. It makes that afternoon cocktail easy and much less expensive than the bar.
All in all, we had a great time and highly recommend this piece of paradise.

Very well situated on the very peace, authentic and non-toutist island of Kho Yao Noi.
The only 15 bungalows are all scattered in a nice garden with coconut palms, along the beach, with a real scenic view !
You live in contact with the nature (open bungalow, small animals, noices of the nature, ...).
All the bungalows have good equipement and confort. There are also a small swimming pool in the garden, canoes, a thaï massage center, ...
The restaurant is very good but the service is too slow.
The staff is very kind and helpful. A lot of excursions are available direct from the hotel (boat excursions on the small islands, fishing, guided tour on Kho Yao island, ...).
I realy recommanded this place !
One negative point : too much noice due to the construction of a new resort just near (but could be finished in a few months ?).

Senses of the eremite, but with sufficient comfort and elegance. This hotel - one of the best in Thailand, also unique. The staff, and especially main manager - is so unique. As well as a place where there is a hotel. The finest and unique impressions.

Stayed for 4 days in January 2007.

Good Points:
Loved the villa - it was nice and airy, with a fantastic outdoor shower, from which a variety of exotic birds could be seen.

Food was excellent, and quite reasonably priced considering that there was not a lot of other places to go!

Views over the bay were amazing, and everything was well spaced out with lots of loungers.

My boyfriend tried the massage and was well impressed.

Bad Points:
Came here thinking it would be quiet and peaceful, but be warned there is a major building site next door. Sometimes you could not hear anything, especially if sitting near the sea, but sometimes it was very annoying, especially as our villa was right next to it. Road rsurfacing was also going on during our stay which did not help.

Would not recomend the snorkelling trip - the pictures made it look quite remote, but it was actually a busy resort when we got there, full of speedboats from Phuket.

Also, be wary if paying by credit card - the rates are converted by the hotel at rates that did not seem to be very favourable compared to those for hotels before and after converted by my credit card company.

My husband and I visitied this resort for 3 nights on our recent honeymoon and it really was delightful. We were travelling round and so after the bustle of Patong we wantd a romantic hideaway and this is exactly what we got!

There isn't much to do other than chill out, chill out and chill out some more but the infinity pool is lovely, the massages are great and the food was a really good standard.

We thought the bungalows were beautiful and I would reccommennd this place to anyone wanting to get away from it all.
