my boyfriend and i have been to lomlae two times,we plan to go again this year. We live in banggkok so we love to visit quiet place.Lomlae is perfect for this.We love the wooden bungalows. There is a lot of nature. We see water buffalo and many birds close by.The staff is very friendly. The boat tours should not be missed. We took their cooking class. This was great fun! we recommend Lomlae to people who would like a real taste of thailand. We can't wait to go back.

We stayed on the bungalow just at left before the entrance and the experience became a nightmare! Just to stay focus we are experienced travelers, we usefull to travel very often All over the asia, and this experience is unacceptable cause we are sûre they knew perfectly what it Will goes happen.. Short story: the bungalow was poorly furnish, and we doubted too about the situaded area cause was just up to a mangrove. But not any choose for this night so we took. The result: impossible to sleep because too noisy by the animal life in the mangrove, the bungallow had a lot of holes so we "wake up" at 6a.m with hundred red ants on the Bed, there had everywhere!. The bungalow is not proper to be use and the most funny is the prise 2500 baht per night! We are not advise this hotel because this place is very creepy! Go further!
Other wise, the beach is very Nice.

lomlae, Owner at Lom Lae Beach Resort, responded to this review, 21 September 2013
I would like to respond to this critique by letting other resort owners know that they should be aware of these people. They actually left 2 other resorts on Koh Yao Noi without paying their bills. We were not made aware of this at first, but were informed once they had already checked in. When it was time for them to pay their bill, this was when the problems began. They were very rude, refused to pay and almost brought one of our managers to tears. They also reserved a diving course and refused to pay what was owed for this, as well.

Being a small island, word does spread quickly. The reputation of these people followed between both islands. We were told that they were on Koh Yao Yai and the same problems began there as well. We understand that people are entitled to their opinion, but these people took full advantage of the hospitality offered on both islands. As we have been running our resort for nearly 20 years, we do see all types of people. Some can be tricky, but generally, we have the most wonderful guests here at Lom’Lae.

we found it a nice resort on Koh Yao Noi. The natural surroundings are the main strong plus.
The downsides were the lack of transportation to the more lively parts of the island, and the absence of amenities for kids. The beach was better than most beaches we've seen on the island, so thats also a plus

Room Tip: get a beachfront bungalow, much better than any other !

My husband and I spent 2 nights here as part of our honeymoon and it was so relaxing. We had a beachfront bungalow which was perfect - I will say now though that it wasn't right next to the beach but it was close enough, and there is a line of trees separating the beach from the bungalows so you do not have an unbroken view of the sea. That is all no matter though, and we loved it as it was!

The bungalow was quite small inside but adequate. We loved the style in which it was built, but also appreciated the western-style plumbing in the bathroom! The only thing is that the lighting was very dim, which made reading very difficult at night, but I don't think that's down to pennypinching (as other reviewers have suggested), it's just the way it is.

We loved the outside areas of the bungalow, which include balcony & seating areas. The distance between bungalows is such that there is no disturbance to or from your neighbours. The walk to the beach is about 1 minute tops. We were in the furthest bungalow from the main reception & restaurant - I can't remember the name of ours but it was the Thai word for "pineapple".

The facilities are good. The restaurant is lovely, there are hammocks along the beach and wooden swings dotted around. One day we went kayaking by ourselves, which was great. We ate exclusively at the on-site restauant which isn't the cheapest nor does it have the most extensive menu but it was good.

If we had stayed there longer we would have gone a bit further and ventured out of the resort but we were happy to stay where we were for R&R. The resort is at the end of a very bumpy track and it would be quite a walk to the main village but we would have hired bikes if we'd been there longer.

You do see your fair share of wildlife and we almost stood on a hermit crab in the dark one night!! So be prepared as if you are not a fan of creepy crawlies you might get a shock. That said, I don't remember any unwanted visitors, but you will see loads of crabs on the beach. We didn't see any lizards or monkeys though. :(

A magical place that we would love to visit again!

We just loved our stay here. We hadn't managed to secure a front row bungalow but that didn't matter as we still had a view of the sea and the wonderful sunrises. It's a great resort that's not glitzy and slick but blends in perfectly with it's environment. Dagmar our host was terrific and a beacon of knowledge. She organised a wonderful day trip snorkelling for us and managed to arranged sharing this with a french family. We both thought it great value.
The food in the restaurant was good too and we loved the breakfasts - especially the home made bread!
We had a resident gecko and woke up to the birds every morning!

Room Tip: All rooms seemed great. Factor in transfers from Phuket airport of about 500 baht per person each w...

Plus:
- Nice breakfast with excellent bread
- The food was good, but not excellent. I am, however, hard to please as I live in Thailand and know what good Thai food is supposed to taste like.
- Lovely natural beach

Minus:
- The building style of the Bungalows could be improved by sealing off the walls of the rooms. Many more construction details could be improved. I have stayed in much better beach bungalows.
- The cleaning of the rooms could be better. They should swipe them with water every day as a lot of dirt falls down from all kind of insects.
- I left a towel on the floor for exchange. They hung it over a chair to be dried. Absolute no go for me! After a complaint they exchanged it.

Since other resorts are even more expensive Lom Lae is still a good option on Ko Yao Noi. But trust me, if it wasn't at the beach, noone would stay there in my opinion.

Room Tip: Don't take the bungalow in the back.

My wife, 8 years old son, 5 years old daughter and I spend 5 days at Lom Lae. We really liked the atmosphere, the food and the service. And the beach and soroundigs also had high class. The bungalow was a bit dark.

It's great to find such a place 45 min from Phuket!
