Stunning Gem of a Resort

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Oct 2019via mobile
We enjoyed a night away from the children at this beautiful resort. It is simply stunning - the location is so picturesque on the hills looking out to sea. The staff are wonderful and so helpful and friendly. From the host on the transfer service - Kun Nut to Kun Ma our villa host who took great care of us. We ate lunch at the Hilltop restaurant which was delicious and had a fantastic Thai meal at the all day dining restaurant. The best for me was breakfast - we collected our own eggs from the hens and ducks and they cooked them for us in a variety of ways.

What a fantastic resort! We wish we could have stayed longer!

The Six Senses Yao Noi is: wonderful!

We've stayed at a lot of beautiful hotels/resorts around the globe. But this hotel is in our top 3! First of all the transfer service to the hotel with there private speedboot is: superb. Even for people who don't like bootrides it is very comfortable.

Arriving at the pier your personal GEM (general experience maker) welcomes you! The lovely Natty helped us the entire stay to make it unforgettable. The hotel has its own "private jungle". During the day the hilltop is a lil adventure jungle and it highly appreciated to be surrounded in so much tranquility. Because Krabi, Samui and Phuket can feel very crowded. In the evening this beautiful hotel-jungle is truly magical with all the lights. For people who think: a hilly jungle isn't our thing. The buggies are available 24/7 to bring you around the whole property.

The villa's are very authentic Thai with a lot of wood and nature. The infinity pools in the Ocean Deluxe Pool Villa are nice and clean. The rooms are spacious and clean. The only downside we think are the showers inside the villa (there is also an outside shower). They are a lil bit dated and don't match up with the rest of the villa. But who cares when you have an outside shower?

The restaurants on the property are nice. Especially breakfast is a warm welcome if you compare it to the breakfasts from other hotels nearby. A lot of the hotels have a very Asian oriented breakfast, due to the fact that a lot of Asian people go on holiday in Thailand. The Six Senses Yao Noi did a great job by adding also a lot of breakfast options for Western guest. And I mean it was incredible. They have there own patisserie/bakery and if you feel like a French croissant or some sourdough bread: it is all there. And yes if you like your Asian breakfasts; you can also have plenty of options.

The service in the hotel is outstanding. Your personal GEM will make sure that you have the most wonderful time. If you want to play tennis? Or a spa treatment, everything can be arranged. And yes you can arrange those things by yourself, but why not ask the help of the staff who now everything about the activities etc.

If you want a tranquil destination with beautiful surroundings: this is it! We feel very at home at the Six Senses and will definitely come back next year to celebrate our honeymoon-around the world trip.

Spectacular and exclusive resort! Beautiful hotel in the mountain with the cliff and amazing view.
Food is great, service 101%, with a wonderful spa and amenities. We did kayak, and we took a boat to go to the little islets, and visit the islands. Rustic and simple rooms, but great hotel . We had a great time with friends!

We spent 3 nights at this resort to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We were booked an ocean pool villa, but upon arrival we found that it was upgraded to ocean panoramic villa. What a gift it was! The views were fantastic. We couldn't stop watching Pnang Nga limestones.
About the staff I should tell you that they were like our best friends from start of our stay. Specially our Guest Experience Maker ( Kara ). She was so nice and helpful. Thank you Kara everything.

Firstly let me say If you go to a luxury island resort don't expect it to be cheap, if you are in the tropics don't expect there to be no local wildlife or Mosquitoes.

My wife and I were looking for a relaxing break after a very hectic year and essentially we wanted somewhere tranquil to sleep, eat and relax with good food and service.
This was absolutely the place.
The room we were allocated was great, very spacious with panoramic views, clean and in good repair. As per other six senses they rooms are very well appointed.
The infinity pool at the villa was perfect for dipping in and out of when not asleep, reading or eating on the spacious outdoor furnishings.
The director of food and beverage Clement has done a great job as the food was excellent and interesting throughout our stay. The wine is expensive but the tax on wine in Thailand is very high and we were on an island, so our view was that this was only to be expected.
The service was very good and very friendly. Our host (Gem) Angie was very helpful and attentive when required without being too obtrusive.
We always make a point of attending the Managers drinks evening to talk to the management (Some say I will go a long way for a free drink) about the resort, their roles and how they operate. Graham, Ellessia and Claudia were very relaxed, open, welcoming and informative. Indeed it was a pleasure to talk to them until we had to leave for the James Bond themed meal on the beach. Starting with a Vodka Martini Shaken not stirred. We had a great meal on the beach whist watching a James Bond film. I always feel it is difficult to prepare and serve a good meal in these beach circumstances because of the distances involved, the timings and delivering the food at the correct temperature. This was absolutely delivered that evening.

When we did have a slight noise issue around our Villa (Not a huge issue) they kindly moved us to a larger villa which happened to be free at the time, it was unnecessary from our point of view but it does demonstrate their desire to please the guests and keep everybody happy at all possible.
Well done all.
Dave

We transferred from another hotel only 10 minutes away so our boat transfer arrived earlier than expected. Unfortunately, there was no one to greet us so we were left on the pier before someone came to help from the water sports office. This didn't give us a great first impression. However, when our GEM (Natty) arrived she was extremely welcoming. Just wish she turned up earlier as transfers don't always run on time.

Natty checked us into our villa which had an amazing view. We booked a panorama view villa which was worth the extra money. Having our own pool and outside lounge area was perfect. Our room was lovely and a bottle of wine, dried and fresh fruits was available when we arrived which was a nice touch. The indoor shower could do with updating as just didn't look clean and for the money we had paid I expected it to be better.

We were on a half board option which worked well for us as this mean't we could have a starter, main meal and pudding in any of the restaurants on the resort. One evening we booked a meal at the Hilltop reserve which was just amazing and such a beautiful meal watching the sunset. We all had the lobster cooked by the chef which was delicious. The service was excellent on this evening. Well worth a visit.

The other evenings we either ate in the Living Room or The Dining Room. Be aware you have to book the Dining room which we were not advised of so on our first night we couldn't eat there. The food was great each evening in both restaurants. Our only issue was the service provided was not consistent. Sometimes, at the start of the evening the staff were very attentive but sadly this did not continue for the full evening which was frustrating as we had a bottle of wine each evening and the wine was not left by our table as the member of staff wished to pour for us which was great whilst they were attentive but when they were not we found we had to walk to get our wine and pour ourselves. This can be easily improved.

The breakfast was really good and the choice was great. We loved the deli, bakery and hot food. Most mornings it took a while for our coffees to arrive and this needs improving as sometimes we had no coffee whilst eating our breakfast.

Our GEM Natty was really friendly, great customer service and found us each day to check we had everything we needed or to arrange any trips, visits to the spa. On our first day she took us on a tour of the resort which was great.

We visited the spa twice which was amazing. I had a facial and my husband had a massage. Although the treatments were expensive we didn't mind as the experience was just perfect. The treatment rooms were amazing and the staff in the spa were really helpful and just lovely.

One day we took the tuk tuk around the island which was really enjoyable and our guide was really informative.

Overall an amazing experience and we would stay in a six senses resort again.
