“Magical Cottage.”
Reviewed 11 October 2011 for a stay in September 2011

What can I say that hasn't already been said by previous guests except that this truly is a holiday with a difference the owner Colette makes you feel so welcome and encourages you to make the cottage your home from home

The peace and quiet is brilliant especially if you have come from the hustle and bustle of city life or even suburban life and the views are breathtaking! Colette grows all her own produce and she has her own hens so we had fresh greens all the time and fresh laid eggs wonderful.

Gleninchaquin Park was just amazing! and we met one of the farmers who farms part of the land he was very kind in bringing us to the best view of the park and imparted lots of his local knowledge to us. I would recomend you pack a lunch as there great places to have a picnic.

We both agree that this was a brilliant holiday and we definitely intend to go back next year probably in the summer this time and I don't think I'll ever want to board a plane again,

“One of the most stunning views in the world”
Reviewed 21 July 2011 for a stay in July 2011

Perfect homely cottage with the most amazing views even from the bath! So peaceful and quiet - an ideal place to relax. We had fantastic weather - no rain and enjoyed many walks in this most beautiful place in Ireland.

“Charming old farm cottage, great sea view, log fire and local walks.”
Reviewed 25 May 2011 for a stay in April 2011

Had a fantastic stay.

Fantastic sea view, particularly the view from the bathtub looking out to sea and the hills. Makes a nice end to the day. The house is rural and quiet.

We were lucky with the weather. brilliant sunshine. The owner, Colette, had home made bread, jam and her own eggs in a welcome basket. She made us dinner one night from local produce, crab salad and local fish main. French influence Irish cuisine.

We had the fire one night, as it was a bit chilly in the evening. The cottage is well appointed, good kitchen and nice lounge / open plan dining area. There are fresh eggs, bread and vegetables available from Colette. She arranged for us to use the internet via WiFi (not that fast but OK).

Location: 30 minutes from Kenmare and 20 minutes to Catsletownbere.

Things we liked doing: walking The Beara Way near tot he house; the walk to Collorus beach and the ruins of Old Collorus Village; having a beer at Kilmackilloge Pub; walking through Deereen Gardens (botanical); The Loop Walk near Ardgroom (ask at Ardgroom PO) and driving around Beara Peninsula including a stop at McCarthy's Bar in Castletownbere.

I would recommend bring warm clothes as it seems one has to prepare for 4 seasons. Good walking boots / shoes is a must!

This was a 'staycation' week break with a family member visiting from overseas.

In summary, perfect for 2 people, its not a luxury, glitzy establishment, but an authentic Irish country cottage experience, picturesque.
