Our stay at Valley View Cottage was so comfortable and perfect in pretty much every way! We were greeted by Eileen with a pot of tea and a fire blazing in the grate, and she was full of advice about what to do during our stay, both rainy and sunny options. The cottage is ideally situated, it's remote enough that you get to appreciate the full beauty of the Beara Peninsula, but it's only a 20 minute drive to Kenmare, and only about 5 minutes from Lauragh. We spent plenty of evening's just relaxing at the front of the cottage with a home cooked dinner, overlooking the stunning views, but I would also whole-heartedly recommend Josie's restaurant in Lauragh - it was the best food I have ever had, and the service was also excellent. The only regret that I have about the cottage is that we didn't stay longer! I would definitely go back, and would recommend it to anybody.

“Tranquil Cottage”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

The hosts were wonderful from the beginning with a fire and a well earned cup of tea. Very comfortable cottage with stunning views of the mountains. An ideal retreat for a couple who wants a quiet vacation. All amenities in the kitchen and a great base for sight seeing.

What can be said that hasn't already been said about our hosts Eileen and Robert. They are without doubt the most generous welcoming couple that we have rented from, nothing is to much trouble.
The cottage is clean and comfortable with plenty of space, and lots of little extras. We found it a great base for the many walks and drives on the Beara.

We had the most amazing holiday here. Mr and Mrs O'Shea are the kindest hosts we have ever rented from. A roaring fire and pot of tea on arrival and really useful advice on places to visit. The cottage was perfect and even though it was very rural, it had quicker internet than we do in Bristol!
It was the perfect location to explore the ring of beara. We went on magnificent walks and even got to see dolphins.
We will definitely be visiting again!

“Fabulous home from home -we're coming back”

Brilliant welcome from Eileen, with fire burning beautifully and Christmas tree up. Felt like coming home. Snug despite the weather, with plentiful supply of logs for the fire. Marvellous support from Eileen - she even turned up with candles and to check we were OK during the power cut. Beautiful views over the valley and to the mountains in front and to the side, and the four poster bed is an experience not to be missed. We didn't want to leave.

“Idyllic surroundings, cosy cottage, warm hospitality”

We had a wonderful short stay in the cottage and only wish we could have stayed longer. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived, and were close at hand for any questions we had. The location is excellent, in a relatively quiet, untouristy corner of County Kerry but very close to plenty of natural and man-made attractions, including mountains, stone circles, coastal scenery, gardens, quaint villages and pubs. The cottage itself is also very comfortable and well-equipped, so you can easily spend a day there without driving anywhere, just sitting by the open fire (plenty of good dry wood provided) and looking out the window over the valley and hills beyond. When the sun's out there is also a great little patio out the front to soak up the sunshine and the spectacular scenery all around.
