In 26 days of traveling, this was the best accommodation of our trip and we agree with previous comments. However what has not been fully highlighted is what a welcoming and delightful pair Thys and O'Nel are. They transform a very upmarket B&B into a truely exceptional one. Their advertising of "arrive as guests and leave as friends" was, for us, spot on. Whilst they are both excellent company we would add that O'Nel is a fabulous cook. Whatever you do, book in for dinners!

We last visited Rouxwil in 2007 and returned last week - it is quite amazing that something as perfect as Rouxwil could just get better! Two new rooms have been added, both of which are up to the standard of previous accommodation and, once again, the food was phenomenal. O'nel and Thys are the quintessential hosts. Any stay here cannot be bettered anywhere in the country.

Rouxwil Farm is a fabulous place to stay! Thijs and O'Nell are a very warm, friendly and charming couple. They spoiled us with their attention, kindness, excellent food and wines. O'Nell is really a great chef in her kitchen! The 4 (new) rooms are amazing: elegant and comfortable and very large. We even had an outdoor shower, next to a twin indoor shower ánd a bath. The view is spectacular from your room, the pool and the farm. It is very nice to witness the farm life and Thijs is very willing to tell you all about it and to show things. Although the farm is situated 'in the middle of nowhere', you are in no time at places like Fransshoek, Greyton, Caledon and even Hermanus. Staying there for 4 nights, made our holiday and we'll certainly go back in another season.

My husband and I arrived to Rouxwil after being lost for about 30 minutes due to road construction, but the minute we pulled in I knew we were in for a relaxing, stress free evening. O'Nel, our hostess showed us to our beautiful room and told us that dinner was in an hour. The guest house is set on a hill and overlooks a game park; we saw a zebra while we were putting our luggage into our deluxe room! The rooms are incredible, very personal with fresh lavender sprigs on our towels and in the room. We settled in and then opened up the honesty bar. The wine and beer was wonderful. We relaxed on our porch just unwinding and enjoying the peace and quiet. We joined our fellow guests for a genuine ZA braii prepared by Thys, our host. The food was the best we had during our entire trip! We had locally prepared dishes and the conversation, like the wine never stopped flowing! We had a delightful time laughing and talking with our fellow travelers. Once I was back in the room I indulged in a glass of wine and a bath in the wonderful bathtub in our room. Breakfast was just as amazing as dinner with freshly prepared fruits and muffins. We regret that we were only staying one day, next time it will be for a week. I also purchased several pieces of jewelry from a friend of O'Nel and several pieces of artwork that her sister makes. We left after only one stay, feeling refreshed and well fed. Highly recommended.

We only stayed one night at Rouxwil Country House and it wasn’t long enough!
As it had been raining we arrived way too early and it couldn’t have been very convenient as there was a farm tour and lunch in progress but O’Nel wasn’t in the least perturbed and made us very welcome.
The hillside suites are stunning. Huge rooms thoughtfully and exquisitely designed and extremely comfortable. Magnificent views from the sliding glass windows and you can watch the Zebra, Elan and Springbok feeding below.
We took a scenic trip across the dirt road to Greyton which was a pretty little village.
In the evening we sat on the terrace in front of our room with a glass of wine, I was just wishing that I’d thought to buy some nibbles when lo and behold Ralph appeared with bowls of olives, crisps and nuts! There is wine etc in the honesty bar in the fridge and complimentary sherry
As you are some distance from restaurants all the guests that night had chosen to eat at the house and O’Nel did us a three course meal of traditional African dishes which was a good way of trying something different. The other guests were a mixed bunch, SA honeymoon couple, French oil executive and his Dutch wife and a Danish gent on his own. We would never have met up with them in other circumstances and we had a lively and interesting evening.
At breakfast there were again some traditional dishes to try as well as all the normal fare if you wanted it and then it was time to check out and say farewell to new friends. I would love to return and stay longer. They offer farm tours and river trips which of course we had no time for.
O’Nel is a great hostess and has that knack of making you feel very special.

It's simple really. If you are visiting the Western Cape, you MUST stay at Rouxwil. This was the fourth guest house of our trip and we were looking forward to staying on a farm, but we didn't think we would have quite so much fun and laughter in such a friendly atmosphere.
The exquisite rooms have a breathtaking view down the valley. Don't even think of eating anywhere else - O'nel is a fabulous cook. The food compares with any of the top notch restaurants on our trip. And there is never a shortage of good wine when Thys is around.
The farm tour with the river trip is truly wonderful, and if you want an adventure on a quad bike - this is the place. But you don't have to do anything. You can just sit by the pool. Rouxwil is relaxing, friendly and exciting all at the same time.
We'd like to keep it a secret, but good things should be shared.
Its fabulous.

This really is an example of the finest South Africa has to offer. The rooms are very spacious and immaculately decorated and furnished to the highest standards and taste.
All facilities are of the highest standard and the rooms miss nothing.
The hosts are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and are always willing to assist with the days plans.
You are always assured of a 5 star welcome and service from Thys and O'nel and their staff.
If you don't stay here then you are missing a very special treat!!
