Barry is an awesome fly fhisingg guide. The home is lovely and comfortable and the food and company were supurb. This is a real treat. If you are wanting to walk to town it is a great hike. Fishing is great and best with a guide. Barry is wonderful His wife, Diane is remarkable. She is friendly, great cook and knows all the sights to see. We even saw the sheep shearing on their farm. Very profeesional.

The home is basic and pleasant. The hosts are 2 of the nicest, most genuine people we met in all of NZ. Just spending time with them made us wish we could have spent more time in Gore, NZ at Wentworth Heights B & B. They provided us with generous appetizers and wine. They had a small lap top to use and a TV room for guests.

Because there is so much to do and see in the South Island of New Zealand, most tourists bypass Gore. We decided to stop overnight on our way from Milford Sound to Dunedin. In retrospect, we could have driven the entire distance in one day (we live in a big city and are used to driving long distances). We are very glad that we decided to stop in Gore.

We found Wentworth Heights Bed and Breakfast by accident, and we were delighted by our experience at this luxury bed and breakfast. The accommodations were outstanding. The room was spacious and immaculate, and the price was very reasonable. There was a pitcher of water by the bedside, which we were very grateful for. There was a tray outside the room with cookies, tea, and coffee. Diane cooked us a lovely hot breakfast the next morning.

The hosts, Diane and Barry, rent out a few rooms in their own home. They are extraordinarily friendly and gracious They made sure that we were comfortable, and they seemed genuinely interested in talking to us about our travels around New Zealand and our life "back home." They live on a farmlet (small farm) on a residential street in New Zealand. They have one cow and several sheep. The grounds are lovely. Very green and pastoral.

We didn't have time to explore Gore because we arrived late and left the next morning for Dunedin. Gore is mostly known for trout fishing (Barry is a trout fishing guide), so if you are looking for nightlife you would probably be disappointed. If, on the other hand, you want to spend a peaceful night (or two or three) in the country and just relax, Wentworth Heights B& B is an ideal place.

Finally, it was worth it to stay in Gore just to meet Diane and Barry and their family. We won't forget them.
