We stayed with Brian and Shona, who were excellent hosts. We stayed in a spacious upstairs room with wonderful views. The building was large, very spacious, modern and very comfortable. (Weddings and other functions are also held here). Breakfast was great. Excellent value.

So glad we read about Hokonui and chose to stay there. Beautiful home, free wireless, clean and spacious room upstairs. Brian and Shona knew tons about the surrounding areas and were so easy to talk to. Shona was also kind enough to give me a book when I told her I had finished mine and didn't have another one! I'm pretty sure Brian would have gone fishing with my husband if the rivers hadn't been flooded; he was seemed to know exactly where all the good spots were.

If you're staying in Gore, Hokonui B&B is the place to be. Brian and Shona take excellent care of their guests. We stayed 4 nights in an upstairs room that looked out over pastures and distant hills. The design, the work of the hosts, is amazing; every detail is consistent with their modernist vision. A delicious breakfast is cooked to your order. Everything about this B&B is outstanding.

What a great place to stay, my husband, being first time at B&B was very reluctant to walk into someone else's home. He needed no apprehension, Shona from the minute we arrived made us feel at home!! What a wonderfu cook, the best 3 course meal with hetrself & husband Brian, what wonderful company to spend a relaxed evening with. So knowledgeable of the area & surrounds, told us to take a drive to the Catlins on our way to Dunedin, the most amazing coastline u will ever see. Do yourself a favour & stay at least a night. Very close to town. The most gracious of hosts. Hi to you both Shona & Brian and thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

Thanks to other trip advisors advice we booked 3 nights and that was still not enough. We booked the extra supper meal which was also excellent. Brian showed us around to some great fishing spots and to some sheep dog training...We brought the wrong plug from Canada for new zealand for our personal computer and next day Brian had one for us! As we were leaving... pulled onto the main road from their b&b and were completely surrounded by sheep...just like the movies...sheep running by on all sides....I'll never forget it... nor Shona and Brian...can't wait to go back.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. Our hosts Brian and Shona were so friendly and extremely knowledgable about the area. We enjoyed talking with them each day, and my husband really appreciated the fishing tips from Brian! Their home is beautiful, and the views are simply breathtaking. We can't recommend this B&B enough. Thank you Shona and Brian for such a wonderful stay!!!

Only booked for one night including an evening meal.
This was probably one of the best B&B's we have stayed at.
Fantastic views over open country. Fantastic hosts with a wealth of Knowledge to help you with your holiday.
We chose to have an evening meal as part of our stay, and enjoyed a wonderful evenings hospitality with Brian and Shona.
Food and room were excellent. If you happen to have any farming connections Brian as a retired farmer is an excellent contact.
No hesitation in recommending Hokonui as a place to stay.
