While we really had a great time on the beautiful island of Corsica, I don‘t really understand the raving reviews and am not so sure if they are all true ;-) We visited in September, a family of four with two kids (1 and 4 years).
The house is nicely located in a dead-end street and very quiet. The pool is really nice and well maintained. 2 Stars for this! Surroundings are great with beautiful Saleccia beach close by and only a very short drive to Saint Florent.
However, the cleanliness of the house was only mediocre. Bathrooms were quite „used“ and the bedrooms had a really strange smell. The fridge and dishwasher had a really strong fish smell, which did not improve during our two weeks stay. Beds and mattresses were quite old and not very comfortable with a cheap quality of bed linens. For the price I would have expected something better.
Maybe the owners / property managers have changed since the last reviews, but we perceived them as quite rude. Immediately after entering the house we were introduced to the „10 rules“ (no kidding :-) ) which included how to clean the stove, how to close the shutters, not to use sun lotion when going in the pool (really??), not to stain the cushions of the outside furniture, etc. We were immediately told that non-compliance to those rules will lead to financial penalties ($$$). All this was quite weird, because the place was neither in perfect shape nor super clean. Later on during our stay we received an email stating that we forgot to cover the pool at night (must be the 11th rule) which we left unanswered. In the second week we forgot to put the pool cushions in a plastic box and it rained. Bad mistake! We were accused the same day of having caused a green stain on one of the pillows which now needed „intense cleaning“... All quite strange, but we didn‘t let it ruin our vacation.
We have rented similar vacation places before and never ran into so many issues with the property managers. Bottomline, for this price tag you can find better, less troublesome options in the same area.
Corsica is so lovely and picturesque, with lovely harbours, pretty cottages, plenty of history and wildlife, great views and good food. The house provides all you need and we felt well looked after by the owners. Everything was in good working order, clean and well-maintained. Convenient for Saint Florent which has a shady beach as well as the main beach. The pool was lovely too.
We stayed here for a week with our 21/2 year old. The villa is wonderful, safe for little ones, plenty of room and very clean. The outdoor space is great too.
The owners even installed a new pool alarm as the old one wasn't working.
You do need a car to get around. There's a supermarket 2 mins down the road and St florent is a 10 min drive.
