Campanile Barcelona Norte - Barbera del Valles
Reviewed 25 December 2011

A nice, big and clean hotel near Barbera del Valles. A convenient location, nice parking for car drivers coming to visit Barcelona or on the way to other locations in Spain.

just got back from staying here , it is a cheap hotel, but the staff i dealt with were excellent. the breakfast was ok, at €8 is quite expensive. rooms are clean. outside temperature was 29 degrees, the air conditioning was unable to cope and the room stayed around 23 degrees.which made sleeping a little ucomfortable. maybe a better winter time hotel.
wifi is only available in reception, it is free though.
hotel is about 40 minutes from airport (€60 taxi fare). and very close to the baricentro shopping centre. this has a large carrefour supermarket and several restaurants inside.

Hotel is located far from the city center, close to the highway (although I had a problem to get there by car). Forget about public transportation to old city, you better have a car That's why this place is better for exploring sights of Catalonia then old town of Barcelona. This is a good hotel, clean, with good service, nice staff and very good restaurant.

I wont speak about the hotel itself, I will just speak about its location.

It is really far away from Barcelona City. One hour and a half in bad and inconvinient public transportation, or 60-70 euros taxi.

Located in an ugly industrial sector not even in Barcelona, but in a city called Barbera del Valles.

Pay a litle bit more for a hotel in ther city. It si worth.

Having read all the reviewspreviously posted I was a bit concerned about this stay, but its location was ideal for me so I went ahead and booked it.

The hotel is on a busy junction of the main motorway which bypasses Barcelona. This gives you convenient access if you are driving to Barcelona. If you do not have a car then this really isn't the place for you.

The staff were very helpful and most spoke English as well as Spanish. The rooms are clean if a bit small, but that is what the chain offers. You are not going to be spending hours sitting in your room.

If you get a room on the motorway side of the hotel it can be noisy, but I just shut the double doors, wound down the shutters and had the window open to get some air.

The food in the on-site 'cafe' is expensive for what it is, but there are plenty of alternatives in the adjacent shopping mall.

I didn't try to get into downtown Barcelona as I had no need, so I can't comment on that.

We have stayed in the Campanile chain of hotels many times and always found them to be excellent in terms of family friendly facilities and policies. Not so here.

Despite their stated child policy, this was completely ignored by the staff and we were told that we would have to take another room for our 2 year old and 5 year old. In fact, although it still states on their own website that an extra bed is added at no charge, we were told that they only had rooms for two people maximum and were simply turned away.

The location is, in principle, very convenient. It's just beside an excellent shopping centre and we had planned on staying there for a shopping trip. However, it's virtually impossible to get into the hotel or indeed shopping centre as there are no signs at all from the motorway that most people will be travelling on. We spent over an hour going backwards and forwards along the motorways which surround the area before we found (by chance) a way in. Consequently, it's no surprise that the hotel was almost empty even in the peak of the holiday season as I'm sure many people just give up trying to reach it.

Unless you're very familiar with the road layout around Baricentro where the hotel is, it's not worth booking as you'll probably not manage to reach it.
