No-frills and recently renovated. Bit in the middle of nowhere but very convenient for the ferry - 5 mins. Don't think staff spoke much - or any English. Auchan Hypermarket/filling station close by. Quite expensive for a budget hotel. Breakfast average and did the job. Would stay again - especially as the reviews for the cheaper neighbouring hotels looked a bit off putting. We ate in Le Vent d'Ange which was 15 mins by car and superb

The biggest advantage of this hotel is very close location to ferry. Hotel looks to be refubrished lately. Rooms are clean and correctly fitted, but family rooms on the attic are low and a little bit claustrophobic. Bathrooms are very small, the width of the bathtub is enough for small kids, for adult it is too narrow and very uncomfortable. The cost of the hotel is quite high as for the value its offer.

We arrived at Dunkerque port from Dover, having taken the 6pm crossing. With the hour's time difference, we disembarked at around 9:35 local time. A very short drive from the port, we spotted the welcoming green sign of the Camapnile (pre-booked) and parked up (eventually - the French and Belgians don't seem to concerned about how many parking bays they straddle - maybe it's a Gallic macho thing??)

A warm welcome as we walked in at 5 to 10 - given our room pass but advised to order a meal soon as the kitchen 'closed' at 10.

One very enjoyable meal (and a good recommended rose wine) later, we went to the small but nicely laid out room, and slept peacefully.

The starter buffet (as at all Campanile's we have stayed at) was good value and top quality. The entrecote was perfectly cooked (saignant), and the dish of the day (ham in a mustard cream sauce) hit the spot.

We passed by a few days later on the return trip to the ferry port, and the travel time from the hotel to the gate of the port was a little under 5 minutes - so perfect for a stopover on the way back.

We travelled from Dover to Calais and after researching hotels in Calais we decided to widen our area & came across this little gem. It's easy to find & there was no issue with check in despite our late arrival (midnight). Good sized rooms, generally clean (there were a couple rouge hairs in/around sink but that's all) and a decent shower! Only real negative is the corridor is a bit stinky with cigarette smells but we've kind of come to expect this in French hotels! Will definitely stay here again.

I'm a big fan of Campaniles for overnight stops because I find they tick all the right boxes - good food, comfortable beds and strong showers. Campanile Loon Plage didn't disappoint. We had driven up from the south of france that day so all we wanted was to arrive, eat and flop into bed - for which campaniles are perfect. I confess that nine times out of ten i stay in campaniles for the fact I know the buffets are always excellent - and you know it will be clean, good value and functional rooms. Also - free wifi is a must for me in hotels - which they always provide.

It's a modern hotel - very well appointed for both the Dunkerque and Calais ferry ports. We stayed there overnight to catch the early morning ferry from Calais and it was only 25 mins drive to the port - and a much nicer and better value than most of the offerings in the town of Calais itself at the time of booking.

The room was awesome - we booked a room with two singles and double, and what we got was a suite! There was a large living space, two single beds at one end and a sofa and tv at the other - then a separate room with a double bed in it. The bathroom had a bath and large separate walk in shower. The toilet was in a separate room too. Looking at the fire escape plan we had the biggest room in the hotel by far - I think there is only one - so if you're after the big room then book it early!!

It was very quiet when we were there - having read other peoples reviews before booking I could see the car-park getting quite crowded on busy nights - especially as it is shared with the next-door premiere classe hotel. Interestingly - there is a premiere classe, Kyriad and Campanile all within 100 metres of each other (all in the same hotel group) so you could stay in one and dine in the other if you wanted to. There is also a Poivre Rouge diner just across the road so there is lots of eating options.

The staff were friendly and polite, the menu was fine - all in a good stop - the only thing I would point out is that it's not in the actual town of Dunkirque but outside it on one of the industrial estates. You need a car to get there - don't think it's a public transport job!
