“Great hotel (can't really call it a B&B)”
Reviewed 11 May 2013

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in on this trip to Europe. The hotel is located on a quiet residential side street and has parking. I really don't understand how they call it a bed and breakfast since there everything is identical rooms with their own bath.

The owner is very friendly and goes way beyond the normal "helpful" at a hotel. The food at breakfast was not just good but artful with each serving being carefully prepared and beautifully displayed. The "artful" carries over in the decor of the rooms which could only be called modern.

Everything was perfect at this hotel and it deserves 5 starts (which I rarely give). The only negative I can think of is that it is far from the city center and thus there are few-to-no restaurants nearby, so, if you do not have a car, it is difficult to get dinner. The owner was very gracious in making reservations for me at a restaurant she thought I would enjoy and arranging taxis both ways.

My new favorite hotel/B&B in Belgium. The place is super clean (I think probably only 1-2 years old) and the service is really great. The decor in the room is super trendy and the rooms are very large by Belgium standards. There is a nice view of the garden from the balcony.

Note the location is great if you are spending time in Dendermonde or near by cities. But it can be 45 minutes drive to the Brussels airport and >30mins to the Brussels city center by car.

I've been in this B&B this week for 3 night and everithing was exellen: room with large spaces, nice and large bathroom, all clean and new. It is not so near to the center of the city, around 2 km. The sleep is quiet and the breakfast is delicate with food prepared by the owner and served directly at the table. TV with different international main program and languages.

This is a fantastic B&B and cannot find any fault what so ever, really big rooms/bathrooms all immaculatly clean. Fab breakfast and full bar and comfy sitting area.
Host was lovely and really helpful recommending and booking a lovely bistro for us to eat.
My only complaint was that we didn't have long enough there!!! Will go an extra day next year!!!

I have travelled and stayed in Dendemonde a few times now and this was the first time at the Abalona. Cannot put into words how good the stay was for value for money and the location into Dendemone town centre. The rooms were huge, spotless, the bathrooms I have never seen anything like, i.e. size + wetroom + a bath the size of a small dinghy. The bed was one of the most comfrotable I have ever slept on. The owenr was very helpfull, the continental breakfast fresh and for a late night beer one had to take from the fridge and denote for charge on a seperate invoice - How trusting ! Compared to Holiday inn pound for pund a no brainer !!

Room Tip: all excellant quality

The location itself may seem a bit weird: on a side street in a small village with really nothing in particular around, but this is really a 5 star B&B:
- Room spacious & clean, huge bathroom
- Great view to the wineyards (on the "luxe" rooms)
- FANTASTIC breakfast: fresh orange juice, oven-fresh bread, pastry, good ham .. you name it
- Free internet, huge "mini" bar, in the relaxing lounge
- and the host Inge did her best to make our stay enjoyable

Really, an unforgetable stay for a relaxying weekend

Tip for runners: turn left, go to the river turn left again, follow the path at the shore and enjoy the fantastic scenery

Very modern, quiet, B&B. Hear the nearby horses whinny or the cows moo! But you don't have to smell them! Friendly bi-lingual owner was very accomodating when arrived earlier than expected.
Breakfast includes fantastic just squeezed OJ, breads, fruits, egg, etc. Coffee and tea at your leisure.
Rooms are large, very well appointed in a modern style. HUGE bathroom with walk in shower AND soaking tub., Some rooms and great room overlook a just-planted small vineyard.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms that face the back yard/vineyard. Downstairs room facing vineyard has a nice walk out...
