Falcon ridge provide rehabilitation for birds of prey and a daily show at 10:30am (except Friday). It is easy to locate up the Champagne valley 2km beyond the Drakensberg Boys Choir and with a BIG sign on the roadside. The birds are flown in an excellent Falconry display. The larger birds require good thermal updrafts to fly high so hot mornings are generally better value. Falcon ridge also presents an excellent opportunity to get close to rarities like Verraux's Eagle and to photograph them doing what they do best, flying. The site looks down valley into the morning sun so positioning for photography is a little awkward but the birds fly very close by.
There is a coffee bar on site and numerous other birds in enclosures. Bring cash for payment as there are no card facilities.
