Whilst looking for somewhere to accommodate a large party (17) of us who would be in PDC just after Christmas, I came across the Casa Cabana. I emailed them and unlike so many other establishments I received a swift response from Kim. She was extremely helpful & eager to help. They offered to decorate the table for the birthday girl and asked if we'd like a birthday cake which they would provide for a very reasonable €25.
They were brilliant at emailing confirmations and replying to any queries we had especially with directions to the restaurant. On arrival we were so pleased with the decorations they'd provided, the table looked fabulous and they'd even gone to the effort of printing "Happy 30th Birthday" signs off for the walls around our table....a really nice touch. The restauarant was beautiful and bright and well decorated, the kitchen is predominantly open plan so you can actually see the food being cooked. The toilets were immaculate and by far the best I've come across in PDC over the years. There are dining tables outside along with a nice relaxing area with sofas and cushions.
The waiting staff were very attentive and we didn't wait at all for drinks being replensihed. We all ordered starters and mains, the food was beautifully presented and potions quite large.....so much so that several of us struggled to eat the main as the starters were so filling ! Lots & lots of fresh veg, baby new potatoes and fries were supplied in bowls to share. All those that had steak agreed they were lovely and perfectly cooked. Even our lone vegetarian was happy with the choice on the menu.
They brought the birthday cake out at the end and it was one of the best cakes I've ever had, fresh strawberries amongst soft, moist sponge cake and cream layers. Coated in a very light sugar coated chocolate icing......Fantastic and large enough for all to have a good sized slice.
I have to make a point about the fact that the Casa is usually closed on a Sunday & whilst we were looking at the menu we noticed the opening times and were ever so slightly confused as we were there on a Sunday evening !...........It transpires when I asked Kim & Jeremy that they decided that for 17 people they would happily open the restaurant as Sunday was the only day we could come. I know it's a win, win for them & us but let's be fair, there aren't many places that would make the effort or be so accommodating. For all they knew we could have all ordered just starters or salads, as it was we did spend a fair amount with drinks, but on average it was still only €25 pp for everything bar the cake.
As people have commented before Casa Cabana isn't the cheapest place to eat but you do get the quality and service and I for one will be recommending the restaurant to one and all and will definitly visit when I go on my annual PDC holiday.
