Stayed for three weeks half board. Enjoyable stay, but a few disappointments! Hotel was full, which stretched the restaurant capacity for breakfast. Staff very friendly, and worked incredibly hard but were pushed to cope with sheer numbers. A little surprised by the extra charges applied. Tea & coffee facilities provided in room 28.5 Euros a week extra. Empty fridge 22 Euros a week!
Excellent location, with easy stroll to all tourist facilities and attractions. Driving conditions on the island are good, with the exception of Puerto del Carmen itself. Did not realize their were so many one way streets in the world! Passed one spot four times trying to find way back to hotel.

Rooms were very clean, and the room standard was ok for an old hotel. The rest of the hotel was very nice and clean, including the pool areas, that were particularly good. The included breakfast was really good, even compared by some of the better Norwegian hotels.

Hotel staff friendliness was all over the place. One girl and a man in the reception area was nice and helpful, but the rest of the reception staff was really not doing their job, as far as we were concerned. Unfriendly and frankly not very helpful. The elevator was faulty, and that can happen, but there were no staff in the area helping people that for some reason had difficulties managing the stairs. People with trouble walking and mothers with small children were struggling, and thankfully most got help from other guests. The restaurant staff was a mixed bunch. Some were very friendly and helpful, while others were grumpy and looked bothered. The cleaning staff were brilliant and very, very friendly. Send the grumpy old men up cleaning and send the cleaning ladies to the restaurant. A free tip from us :)

So, all in all a mixed experience. We couldn´t give the hotel more than three because of the issues mentioned above.

We have been staying here for many years and it is a favourite of ours but after our last visit it will be many years before we return - we always book our rooms directly with the Hotel and we did the same this year however on arrival the rooms we had booked were not available (even though in all email correspondence we were assured they would be available) the rooms were not ready for us we had to get the cleaner back 3 times . The hotel is very dated even though they ask top price for it and in the past we have accepted this but now the decor and general state of things are so old it is very tatty - the staff are always friendly and helpful but the manager seems content to fill the hotel with older clientele who perhaps don't notice the little things like mascara smeared on the light switches the decline in food, the utter chaos is in the restaurant - this is meant to be a 4 star hotel but in truth it is a average 3 star in my opinion . Having stayed there on many enjoyable occasions in the past is it habit that took us back but there but there are lots of other and better hotels in Puerto del Carmen and I would strongly advise trying these and giving this one a miss until they get their act together which sadly I don't think will happen for some time . It is a shame but if you are over 70 you will probably still enjoy it ! When leaving despite all our problems we had this time the manager walked past us and couldn't even be bothered to say thank you and goodbye - the problem is as we leave another mass of guests arrive so the hotel must think that everything is fine . This hotel has and is going down hill rapidly which is a great shame.

Room Tip: The prices for food and drinks in the snack bar and hotel are expensive so I would buy everything you can in the supermarket and bring it back to the
