Having arrived back from the Aquarius last week I now realise you have to take most reviews with a pinch of salt!! Especially the bad ones!! Not everyone can be pleased all the time and of course there are some who expect far too much! Like most people on this site, I was rather apprehensive of this hotel and worried all the way there! But I need not have been!!! Ok, so some areas are looking a little tired and in need of a little TLC but, its only cosmetic! And anyway, who wants to be couped up inside while on holiday? It is perfectly situated to explore both the Old Town and New Town. But if staying within the Complex is your kind of holiday, then you will be more than satisfied with what is has to offer. Spacious, well kept pool areas, with plenty of sunbeds.

I found our APARTMENT more than acceptable. Light, airey and clean! It was serviced everyday of our stay, with clean towels supplied every other. We looked straight out over the sea, with views of the mountains to our right. You have the choice of a terrace or balcony. If you want an afternoon/early eveing reprieve from the hot sun then I suggest you request a terrace, otherwise you will have wall to wall sunshine in
until sunset. My only niggle was the twin beds but it was of no real concern at the end of the day. The kitchen is well equipped for those that go Self Catering - No hiring of kettles & toasters here!

We went All Inclusive and were pleasantly surprised at the choices given each day! The FOOD was more than acceptable and on the whole we thoroughly enjoyed every meal. There is something for everyone. I especially enjoyed the salads.........and my waistline is very thankful of that too!!

The STAFF here work so very hard. They are ever so helpful and polite and nothing seems too much trouble for them. Always there to greet you with a cheery O’la and a smile! Bar 1!! If you come across the older guy (balding) who works behind the bar, mainly in the evenings, please let me know if you get him to smile? We never managed it but would love to hear of others who do! Nevertheless, he worked tirelessly! Manola the waiter was great too! Just watch him move around the restaurant! As for the Animation guy.........he was hilarious! So full of energy.

That brings me to the ENTERTAINMENT. If this is what you come for on holiday, then maybe this place is not for you. You have the bingo and several quiz nights, with a dancing contest thrown in for good measure, but all in all it is very limited and somewhat dull to say the least. But you will find plenty to do in the Old Town. There is a great Irish bar a stones throw away with live entertainment every night. We had a very enjoyable evening there. Venture into the New Town and I think you will find something for all tastes. It costs about 3 Euros by taxi. We walked there during the day along the beautiful clean beach. A very pleasant walk indeed.

All in all I would highly recommend this hotel, especially if you go All Inclusive. Grab yourself a bargain and you won’t go wrong. Just remember this is only a 3* hotel, so don’t expect the earth. A holiday is what you make it, so ignore all the negatives and enjoy the positives! They really do out weigh the MOANERS!! We only paid £255 each and it was worth every penny! So much so we shall be going back.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL.......EVEN THE MOANERS!!

Travelled via Ryan Air and enjoyed a stress free low cost flight with good flight times.
Taxi from the airport was 15 Euro’s. The Aquarius has well laid out apartments many with wonderful views over the old town harbor and across to Fuerteventura. Odd floors have terraces and even floors have balconies. Most are in the sun and many people stayed on their balconies for large parts of the day. There are many steps on the complex as it is built on the side of hill, so not suitable for the less mobile. Loved the location as you walked down a flight of steps from the bar & reception area’s and you was then on the level near the old town. The pool area is quite big with plenty of sun beds. The kiddie’s pool was quite small; there were few children there when we went. Booked A/I with holiday Nights. The apartments have basic television, air drier, iron, iron board, microwave, fridge and a toaster. The apartment & fixtures basic but clean, adequate and well maintained. Enjoyed the extra room an apartment gives. The cleaner comes in five days a week. The entertainment was low key but suited us as there is plenty to do within a few hundred yards. The dining area was small but the excellent staff quickly cleared plates away etc and somehow it coped. Choices limited due to size but hot food was hot and the soup great. Bread rolls of good standard etc. Hot breakfasts good, lunches ok and dinner good. No queues at the bar and good service. The local beer was better than most of the bars.
The Cheltenham National Hunt festival was on and we enjoyed a flutter at the Sports Bar across the road. Had a couple of nice walks along ‘the Strip’ and also the other direction to Puerto Pallero. Nice marina there and if you wanted you could get the boat back.
All in all a very pleasant holiday. Having stayed in Puerto Del Carmen a number of times I enjoyed this location the best.

booked this hotel back in Dec based on price and reviews available at the time. we were looking for a cheap week away and this suited us fine. we were very apprehensive the week before we left cause all the recent reviews were scary to say the least!!! however we found little of that. People must rem its a 2 star hotel and its cheap. however there are basic requirements which any place must adhere to. Rooms basic but adequate. twins beds a negative. remote for TV didnt work got it changed still didnt work. reception said they would change TV but didnt. not so much of a big deal cause nothing to watch anyway!!! we stayed self catering tho we had lunch there most days. cold & hot buffet which was fairly good and the hot buffet menu changed every day. entertainment of which we saw was pretty rubbish. location was central to the old town but involved a lot of climbs and descents. not suitable for the faint!!! new town 15 min walk away. the pool was freezing cold and as a result almost impoosible swim in also way to deep. the walkways around the pool were made with some kind of imbedded grit which when it came loose got everywhere almost like sand. not good.

Just got back from Lanzarote today. We stayed here and had been a little apprehensive about it due to some of the reviews we read on this site. I can honestly say that it is clean, tidy and is great value for money. We only had breakfast as a meal there and it was fine. The bar was a rip-off but that's what you'd expect from an in- house bar. It is quiet but may just be down to the time of year, although a lot of people were staying there. My expectations were exceeded so I am happy to say that we will stay there again.

My wife and I stayed from 10th - 24th Feb on an all inclusive deal. The rooms are in a poor and tired condition. However if needed they had a microwave, electric kettle, toaster, ironing board and iron. Crokery and cutlery to cater for 4 people. The pans were suitable for Army catering. Rooms cleaned 5 out of 7 days. Try to pre book a room on ground floor 101 (ours) to 109. 4 floors in total with no lifts.

Large free form salt water swimming pool which was cleaned on a regular basis. Seperate childrens pool, main pool was 1.65 to 2 metres deep being open only from 10am to 6pm. Lifeguard is in attendance but he sits at a table in a corner keeping in the shade. Area around the pool very uncomfortable on the feet, not advisable to walk bare foot.

The Canteen is basic and all served buffett style, plenty of chips of course. Waiters are there to serve your drinks but service is slow for repeat orders. I am sure this is done to keep costs down. Carlos, Seve, Julian and Bianca all deserve a special mention as they give good service. Nataliya the breakfast girl is great.

Entertainment is available every night, Bingo of course with the numbers repeated in different languages. Quiz's are another favourite, in different languages of course. The reptile show is a joke. Peter the main animation leader is a great lad.

The hotel itself is in a great position for the old port but with many steps to get to it. In fact this hotel is not suitable for the older person or wheelchair users. The road outside the hotel is a killer on the legs, infact all old Puerto del Carmen is bad for the older person.

When turning right and going down the hill you will come across an Indian and Chinese restaurant. The Indian is the worst I have ever been too and the Chinese drink prices will make you spit. However the Chinese next to Tito's on the front is 6.95 Euro,s for all you can eat. Tito,s is rubbish, a very poor show.

Get your Euro,s on the front. Exchange rate was 1.19 when it was 1.12 in the UK.

Enjoy your stay and feel free to ask any questions.
