“It's not 4* but it's certainly good value for the money!”

If peeling paint on outside doors, chipped floor tiles, 80's furniture and some rust on fridge doors is enough to make you coil in shock and deem a place as unfit for human occupation, then don't go here. However, if you are ok with these things as they're all cosmetic (the fridge still did what fridges do and the furniture was fine) and don't want to pay 4* prices then this is perfect.

Had a week there and it was spot on as a base. Admittedly the pool was cold but once you were in a swimming around it was fine. I'd imagine in the summer it'd be a godsend when the suns at its most.

The only small nag I had was that the shower wasn't to good. It did the job but some new shower heads may help as it was a bit poor. But I can't say if all apts had that problem.

We were only in the apt to sleep and then get ready for going out so we had no issues with the cosmetic appearances that trouble some people.

I would say if going there try and get an apt across the pool from recpt (they all have balconies facing the pool) as they back onto a quiet, private road and bedrooms are at the back of the apt. Ones at the other side back on to the main road so you get traffic noise, the ones down one side have the bins behind and I heard someone say they got woken up twice by them being emptied early morning. Just a tip. The ones on the far side from recpt are 3 storeys high, so anyone with mobility issues may want to take that into consideration as there are 4 sets of steps to the top.

In terms of location, it's a 5 minute walk to the strip and there's bar's on the way and a couple of restaurants. Plenty of sun loungers and a lot of space. Would like to see some more umbrellas for shade but they may bring extra out in the sunny months.

I'd quite happily go back there if it was offered again at the price we paid.

Room Tip: Rooms on the far side of the pool back onto a quiet private street. All bedrooms are at the back of...

My wife and myself have just returned from a seven and a half week stay at the plaza palmeras on the 24th of April having stayed at the apartments last year and we both thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I agree that the apartments need a bit of refurbishment but that aside our overall experience of the complex can only be described as really good from the friendly and efficient reception staff to the cleaning service to the wee smiley maintenance man, the weather during our holiday can only be described as super with sunny weather every day of our stay with the exception of 2 days rain. The only down side of our stay was an unfortunate accident with a chair which broke when my wife was sitting on it, I reported it to the reception who could not have been more helpful offering to take my wife to the hospital to get checked out with their own insurance coverage right there and then so I must thank them for their caring and speedy response to the situation. The overall experience including the other people staying there who we met can only be described as good right down to the two wee boys who were there with their gran and great gran our thanks for the hilarity they brought to our stay.

Room Tip: My own preference is for the north side of the complex

If you want chipped paint work everywhere, patched curtains, cracked floor and bathroom tiles, computer access at 50% higher than 4 star hotel, pay tv then this is the place for you. To give another dimension ask the receptionist for advice. I did as to where to find a restuarant and all I got was her clear indication that to provide such information was not part of her remit. Someone, somewhere has to start again ....just now it certainly is not fit for purpose

We stayed at the Plaza Palmeras for 10 nights and I was pleasantly surprised by what we got for the money. The single bedroom apartment was spacious and although a little outdated it was clean and provided everything we needed. The rooms did not have air con (you can rent a fan) however we wouldn’t have needed it, with windows both to the front and rear of the apartment. The kitchenette was more than adequate to pull together a decent breakfast or lunch and we had no need of a microwave which can be hired from reception.

The grounds are well maintained and the pool area is clean and spacious with plenty of sunbeds, however a few more parasols would be handy. The reception staff were very helpful and the maid service good, we were able to keep the room on for an extra day due to our late flight for a small charge, however they do also have a luggage room which looks fairly secure directly opposite the reception.

We didn’t spend much time in the bar area being so close to the main strip (5-10 minutes walk) but there was plenty of happy hours and reasonably priced drinks. The hill many people have mentioned really isn’t that bad but may be a concern for senior visitors.

Overall we had a great time and would be happy to return!
