I and my girlfriend, a young couple from Finland, went to Lanzarote in early March 2014. It all seemed a dream-come-true until the first night, which turned out to be worse than we could have ever feared.

Our room was on the first floor and there was a drop of a good few meters to the ground from our balcony. The area around the balcony was a sort of a garden rounded with a high metal fence with sharp pointy ends. Thus we felt safe and even didn't think about locking our balcony door for the night. That was a bad mistake. We woke up to suspicious noises. First a door opening sound was heard, but it must have come from one of the neighboring apartments, right? But it didn't and that became very clear when more noises came from our kitchen. At that point I sprung up from the bed and ran straight to the kitchen only to see that a dark character, which obviously was a burglar, was already on his way out of our room. I ran and yelled after him but there was no chances catching him. The burglar jumped over the wall of the balcony and disappeared into the night. We were in shock, but luckily the thief got to catch only a handbag with 20 euros bill in it and a notebook.

We immediately locked the balcony door and I went to the reception to inform the hotel staff. It was 4 AM and there was only a one staff person in the reception. After I had explained in english what has just happened and how shocked we were, the receptionist responsed only in spansih and swedish. Luckily though, I had studied swedish in school and a few words spansih from dictionary so that I understood that no help was coming until 8 AM, no police, no guards, nothing. We then tried to catch some sleep for the remaining 4 hours but didn't really success since we were on our toes and woke up to every single noise.

Sun rose and morning came finally. This time there was another person in the reception, one that could communicate in english. We explained the situation again and demanded a room change. We got to see a few options and were allowed to choose our liking. Shockingly, one room that we visited, had foot prints all over the roof near the balcony, suggesting that burglars are a common issue here. We of course declined that room and explained the receptionist about our observation, but she didn't seem to care, not a one bit. At last we found a nice little room that was quite a lot smaller than our previous one, but found it more safe for being on higher floor. The first night was so traumatic though, that we kept a dim light on and carefully placed blocks/traps onto the balcony every single night til the end of our holiday, and of course had all the doors and windows locked all the time.

During our holiday we also discussed with the hotel manager and she just told there's nothing more they can do and that the hotel area was guarded 24/7. Strange, we didn't see any guards or surveillance cameras for that matter. We have never felt so unsafe in a hotel before and quite frankly the hotel staff seemed rather unconcerned. The hotel itself was an average apartomentos with a nice sea view, but it's for sure that we will never go to Hotel Los Pueblos again!

Just back after week 27th April it's not modern a bit tired but clean. Good sized apartments our balcony had a sea view sun from rise to set. Don't put a towel to reserve a sun bed plenty never needed. Restaurants and bars nearby. Would consider returning.

although the apartment was ok , there were too many steps getting up to our front door and the lighting in the evening was very poor ,being a woman I wouldn't like too be walking alone too my room even felt nervy during daylight , some poor lady was burgled there they took everything including passports when she was due to go home nxt day ,security is a must here, its quite a walk to beach and shops ,though the pool area and café/bar had a nice atmosphere that's about it for us ,but would not use this place again

Room Tip: a lot of steps up to apartments not easy when you got luggage too get up into your room

Windy location in the old town. It was a long walk from there to the new town and the beach and up a big massive hill.

The room was spacious however basic and was fairly clean. The toilet brush was filthy though. It did put us off a bit.

The pool area was lovely and there was a bar which served food throughout the day but this was closed on a sunday.

The Crafty Cow pub which can be seen from the pool is a must for delicious food at a reasonable price. We had a sunday roast and the portion sizes were huge and tasty.

Overall the hotel was just ok but then again you do get what you pay for. We would certainly consider coming back here again if we ever return to Lanzarote on a budget.

This is my second review on Los Pueblos as I didnt enjoy it as much this time as I had before.

It is in a good location and has everything you need. It is very clean and the staff are friendly.

The beds were the most uncomfortable things ever.

The people above us were so so noisy - all day and night. They sounded like they just stayed in and walked around in high heels and moved their furniture about constantly.

After 2 days and nights of this we asked to be moved and the receptionist allocated us another room which was very pleasing and quiet for two nights :)

However there were party animals above us - shouting, screaming, singing, playing music and we could even hear them pee every 5 minutes.

I would recommend these apartments as they are clean, in a good location and good value. I would request an apartment with no one above if you like to sleep at night.
