“Cheap and cheerful”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2009

Just returned after spending 2 weeks here and had a good time. The apartments are basic, but clean. Sure all you need them for is getting ready to go out at night and sleep in!

The only real downside is there is no reception or security staff after 9pm. If you end up with rowdy spanish holiday maker's in the apartments as we did, there's nobody to complain to at the time to get it sorted. You have to wait until morning to complain.

Also, the restaurant is no longer, due to it being closed for not having a fire escape. This means you have to get ready and go down to the main strip if you want to eat if you don't feel like doing the self catering thing in the evening. And that hill everyone talks about is nothing really.

All in all, a nice clean and cheap place to stay. Would consider it again.

I'm just back from the Bitacora Apartments and had a great time. The apartments are basic (like all two or three star apartments!). Had no experience with cockroches. The pool bar needs to be a bit updated & could be a bit cleaner (jbut that ust depends on the person eating in it), so we just made our own lunches from the supermarket in the complex. There are two parts to the complex. The first part has the main bar / reception / large pool area / lots of apartments. The second part of the complex is at the back with only 20 apartments and two smaller pools. This area is lovely and clean and a bit more updated. However, I don't think you can requests these apartments on booking, it's just pot luck if you are put there!

We stayed at the Bitacora for 7 nights. The receptionists were helpful, friendly and we received a warm welcome from the male receptionist on arrival. The apartment was basic with the added bonus of UK TV ( for those that like to keep up with what's going on in the world). The apartment could have done with some basic dusting but apart from this we were relatively happy with the condition our apartment. We hoped to be able to spend quite a lot of time by the pool but we were put off as the pool for 'adults' ( there were two, one for kids the other for adults) was monopolised by squealing, belly flopping children all day everyday. There was also little shade and very few parasols available. I found it more peaceful by on the beach to be honest. Heart attack hill is not so bad but we did find parallel roads that lead to the apartment that were less challenging. The area itself is quiet and about a 10 minute walk to the beach and night life. I am horrified to read that the previous reviewer experienced cockroach hell, OMG!! Our apartment was on the first floor, I am not cockroach friendly, luckily the only roaches I saw were on the promenade on the main street. We would recommend this hotel to families and young travellers with little expectation whatsoever.

I stayed in Bita Cora in early July with my sister. The place was swarming with cockroaches. We had a ground floor room, the notorious 118 apartment (see Franpad's review). There was a small brick structure outside that seemed to house Lanzarote's entire cockroach population. At night fall, they would come running, flying and generally swarming from the holes in the wall.
We had made a complaint about night-time access (we were never told where the gate was) to the sullen, female receptionist. She was so snooty and unhelpful that we approached the older, male receptionist about the cockroaches. He was very pleasant, had the place sprayed and left us a can of poison. Unfortunately this didn't deter them it just caused them to lie half dead on the floor.
Luckily we are party animals and returned in daylight each morning to the twitching carnage.
We had to stay in these apartments as our sister is a resident across the road and naturally we wanted to be close to her. When the 'roaches got too bad we'd sleep on her couch.
These are inexpensive apartments and the neighbours were lovely. Even though it's suitable for families our pre night club partying didn't seem to annoy anyone.
They are cheap and central but cleanliness was definitely an issue. A Ryanair type accommodation. You have to pay for every extra requirement.

If you do stay here, bring towels and ask to be on an upper floor away from any brick walls. On arrival go straight to the supermercado, buy washing up liquid an d re-wash your delpht.

I just returned from the Bitacora apartments yesterday and had to write to sing its praises. We stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. The apartments were nice and clean and in general the complex had a really nice feel to it.We did find 3 cockroaches over the week inside the apts but i dont believe the cleanliness of the apts were to blame(we were on ground floor). On the Wed afternoon there was a bbq on in the afternoon with a live band who were great. There were many many Irish guets in the apartments which was great for us!! The hill leading up to the aprtment is quite steep but nothing too bad at all-it only took 5-10 mins to get to the beach. Also because you are in the middle of Puerto Del Carmen it really is so easy to get to the Old Town and the newer part. Also the shopping centre Biosfera is only a ten minutes walk from the apartments. Overall i would definitely recommend the apartments.

Spent a week here feb 09, we had been before and returned because it was good value, plenty of sun beds, no complaints except aqs another review, 5 o clock me and hubs having an afternoon siesta, and the maid barged in on us, the curtains were closed and doors locked, we were a bit shocked to say the least, think the maids need to learn to knock, at least she left us a toilet roll on the way out. The hill not too bad some peeps make it out to be harder than it is. Fab resort loads of restaurants love the chinese. Been to lanzo six times, stopped at the parque tropical, bitacora and a couple of others never had any complaints, recommend trollops for night out and the volcano trip. Go to lanza u will love it we do and we get around.

Bitacora apartments are a great place to spend a holiday in Lanzaroty. The apartments are clean, well equipped and safe for children - each apartment had a balcony or a terrace. Our apartment had a terrace with a pool view. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our apartment was cleaned every 2nd day. The pool area was great and the pool was cleaned every morning. There was a small bar beside the pool that served drinks and food. The apartments are situated on top of a hill which isn't too bad (I cannot understand why people complain about it) - myself and my 5year old son used to race up it every day, I cycled up it every morning after cycling along the bike path for an hour. Its about a 5-10 min walk to the beach and the town. I would definitely return there for holiday.
