Just came back from a week at Costa Sal with my 14 year old daughter. Had a lovely time in a 2 bedroom villa, which was immaculate, clean & had everything we needed. The service at both reception & especially in the restaurant was superb!!!! As for the food, this was exceptional, we never ate anywhere else. It had the typical English food if that's what you're after, plus other very tasty dishes, fish was excellent......my daughter had the large prawns every night. Every night there was entertainment laid on, nothing spectacular but entertaining enough to keep you interested & laughing!!! The wifi was much better than people had previously commented on, especially at our villa & around the pool/restaurant, so my daughter was extremely happy about!!! It is a 2min walk to the beach, & although it is certainly not a lively area enough for us or a young family.
One negative.....towels on sun beds by the pool!!!! On Many occasions we came to the pool around lunchtime/early afternoon & there were more towels than people.....very frustrating especially when there is a note in the Welcome Pack saying not to do it!! I saw someone complain to the life guard & he just refered them to reception!!!
Didn't really spoil our stay, so if you can't beat them, join them!!!!
Thanks Costa Sal for a lovely week.

Thank you so much for your lovely review and for taking the time to share it with other readers.
We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us, and that you in particular loved the food.
We try to offer something for everyone as you point out. From plain home type cooking to fresh fish and other daily specials. And I think from reading these reviews, we seem to have got it just right! I will pass on your compliments to the head Chef who will be delighted to read them.
The WIFI has improved greatly.
Although we still have some black spots, , 80% of the complex now has good coverage. And of course we now offer free wifi in the bar and restaurant, so this seems to keep the teenagers happy.
What can I say about the sunbed situation?
It is really a problem. Not just here, But at all hotels.
I come most mornings to make sure no one puts towels on before 09.00.
And would you believe, if I am not here, some people ignore this rule!! Even though we have chains on to stop people going on the terrace, and to allow the maintenance staff to clean the area properly.
I speak at our welcome meeting on a Wednesday.
And I appeal to people to respect other guests and not reserve beds with towels and then, as in some cases, not use them for most of the day.
I have taken towels off at 13.00 that have been reserved since 09.00 and I find this totally unfair to to other guests.
We continue to try and look for a solution.
If you have any suggestions please e mail me to geraldine.mcfadden@gmaiil.com.
Or any one else who is reading this.
The lifeguard is there for peoples safety.
He has on occasions lifted towels, and then had people get very annoyed with him,. And distract him from his job. So we do ask him not to get involved.
We have plans to extend the sun terrace area for next summer and get even more sunbeds, so we hope this will solve the problem.
Thank you once again for your review. It really makes us so proud to read such lovely comments.
I hope we will see you back in the very near future.

We have just returned from a family holiday in Lanzarote and can only highly recommend Costa Sal Complex. We were a family of Grandparents aged 74, and 2+2 children aged 16 & 11.
Location is perfect only 10 mins in a taxi from the Airport at a cost of circa €10/€12. We were Half Board and the food in the restaurant was of top quality although the older folk got a little unfortable after sitting for a while in the cast iron seats. All of the staff were clearly very hard workers as the complex was very busy. A special mention for Nicki and her fantastic personality especially with making the older folk feel very welcome and always a smile and a helping hand. Internet signal very weak considering there is a charge per device to use it. We never had any problems with beds as long as you were at the pool at 9am with your towels. Reception is lovely and again a special mention for Paulina, so pleasant and always a lovely smile.
Geraldine, 'The Boss', brilliant best describes her, she knows how to run a complex.
'Grandad' was unwell at the end and had to stay an extra night and we were faciliated with no problems. That was our 4th time there and we will be back again.

Room Tip: Superior 2 beds apartments are very spacious.

My wife and I have recently returned from a 10 day trip to Lanzarote having stayed at the Costa Sal complex.
We had booked a superior one bedroom apartment and on arrival, our apartment was well prepared, clean and comfortable with an excellent view over the pool area towards the sea.
We found ourselves eating in the restaurant most evenings as the food there was of excellent quality and value, not to mention the breakfast buffets which at €6.50 were excellent value.
Our bed linens and towels were changed on average every 2 to 3 days which was excellent, as we have previously stayed in other complexes in the Canary Islands where we were lucky to have these items changed every week!
The bar and restaurant staff were also very professional, Nicki, Laura and Dave come to mind here as staff who put passion into their work.
The entertainment was also top notch in the evenings – we will especially remember the drag night and the hypnotist and the 80's night downstairs on Saturdays.
There are only two negatives which we can think of which in no way held back on our wonderful experience at Costa Sal, those being;
The cast iron seating in the bar and restaurant section can become uncomfortable after some time and the internet is not of good enough quality to be charging a fee for, this is something which is my job at home and through a little bit of digging on the network there the problem may be the main router (DDWRT/Linksys) which is probably overloaded with lots of simultaneous connections – get your ISP to change this for a Mikrotik like the one which is used for your Hotspot Authentication (this also needs a software update as the version running on it has a known security exploit). Everything else on the wireless end is fine – with ample outdoor access points to cover the entire complex.
Enough of the geeky stuff and I have to say that we really enjoyed our stay and despite the chairs and Internet would have no hesitation in recommending this complex. If we ever visit Lanzarote again, Costa Sal will also be our first stop.

We stayed in the Costa Sal Apartments in August 2104. From the time we entered the complex we were greeted by friendly staff. At almost every meal, (we were half board) one of the waiters or waitresses had a fun conversation with us and made us especially welcome. Three loveable girls that stood out were Mandy, Nicky and Elaine although in fairness every host was great. The pools were well maintained and sunbeds were hard to come by even though there was a rule about towels on beds that was not enforced. Evening entertainment was an endurance test sometimes though. The room we stayed in was 207, an apartment for 2 & 2 that was lovely and very close to everything. I would 100% recommend this hotel again and would indeed stay again next time we visit Lanzarote. Go half board because FOOD WAS FANTASTIC!

Room Tip: Room 207 is ideal for 2 adults and 2 kids as it is close to all amenities and if your kids are playing the pool games you are within 12 metres of them whilst sitting outside your door having a drink!

Just back from a very enjoyable holiday in Costa Sal apartments
I couldnt beleive the great improvements since my last visit. Once again staff are so friendly and cannot do enough to help you. Food in the restaurant is so good you just dont want to eat anywhere else . There was activities during the day and entertainment every night which was very enjoyable. Book swap in supermarket is a great idea. The whole complex is kept so clean and tidy.
Matagorda is a lovely location to stay in it has shops and restaurants and Puerto del Carmen is only a short distance away along the promenade. There is a bus stop outside Costa Sal if you would like to take in more of the local sights in Lanzarote.Going back in December and just cant wait !
