Went on a package holiday to this resort and was amazed at the difference between this 4 star and previous visit to a 5 star riu resort.
We were under the impression that the resort used to be 2 separate hotels that had been made into 1 by putting a bridge to link the two, all the facilities were in one side with nothing in the other and we got wet going to the bar and dining area when it rained. The entertainment venue wasn't big enough to hold everyone from both sides of the resort and if you were in there and wanted a drink, you had to go outside to the only evening bar facility on the resort and then try and get through the crowd to get back to your seat.
Food was almost the same every day, even the "speciality" restaurants were buffet service and we saw the food being put on the hotplate at 5 pm for the 6 pm sitting.....we like fresh food. Drinks were not of a good quality and you helped yourself to most of them, only being served spirits and cocktails.
The entertainment staff were on the go all day long and did their best to accommodate all age groups.

Room Tip: In the main hotel where reception is situated, if you are in the bungalows there is no shelter when...

Firstly I would like to say that the staff at the hotel were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and the service they gave us was first class. The hotel was lovely and clean in every part of the hotel. The food was very good and there was a wide range to meat, fish and vegetable dishes.

Hotel room was lovely with sea views (something that we didn't get last year when we spent a fortune) and as I said very clean.

Entertainment staff were lovely and Pepe is amazing as well as being gorgeous!!

This hotel was very well managed and organised. I would recommend to anyone and I can say that we've been round the work staying at different hotels, mostly 5 star and this would be a hotel I would go back to.

If you are looking for a lovely hotel with good food and extremely nice staff this is the place for you!! Will definitely be looking to book again.

Having read some of the reviews on this hotel, we wonder if we were at the same one. Yes the staff were superb, the standard of cleanliness was very good, the Asian and Mexican theme restuarants were very good too, but the main buffet restuarant was a disappointment, the selection and quality we found to be poor, the way the (hot) food was presented we thought was not the standard of a 4 star hotel. We never had a properly hot meal and both suffered from upset stomachs the 7 days we were there. We holiday a lot and that was an unpleasant first for us.
We were initially located in the annex connected to the main building by a wooden walkway, the room was noisy with people passing, so we upgraded to a quieter room in the main building. The evening bar arrangement was a disappointment, only one bar for the whole hotel which doubled as the pool bar during the day was not what we are used to in any 4 star hotel. We were very disappointed in this hotel, unfortunately the assistant manager did not appreciate any of our comments and when we asked for a guest comment form we were told that the hotel did not use them. We would not return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building

Stayed 11 days over Easter at this lovely hotel - Emailed in advance to ask for a high floor quiet room - and this was exactly as requested. Room on third floor in main building, a little noisy lare evening but quiet after midnight.
Food was very good in main dining room, also ate in Mexican & Canarian and the food again was great.
Nice to have a free safe in the room, something that all hotels should consider.
Every member of staff was helpful and friendly, reception even called our room to ask if everything was O.K., nice touch.
Entertainment staff work very hard, day and night. Enjoyed Hose & Alex singing, Pepe was a real hoot, check out his legs and high heels - how he dances in them I will never know.

Do not book overpriced tours through Thomson, walk to Matagorda - 10 mins to the left of the hotel across the beach, and look for the tour booking shop second building down from the top of the toad. Booked Tequise, Sunday Market for 4 euros each - hotel charge 16 euros each!
The bus picks up at the bus stop just outside the hotel - on the same side of the road. Great atmosphere at the market, well worth a visit.

Will certainly return to this well managed and well run hotel. Anyone who moans about the food does not deserve a holiday - there is something for all tastes - you will never go hungry. Try out the Baileys at the bar, very drinkable.

Room Tip: Email the hotel in advance if you have specific room requirements. The walk over the bridge to the s...

Went in March to celebrate our wedding anniversary,it was very windy at the time.that made it more bearable for my husband. could not fault the hotel. We have stayed in the Riu hotels in Mexico and Jamaica always an excellent standard. the entertainment were excellent, sending lots of love to Pepe! Truly brilliant day and night. Not the prettiest island took the day long trip up to timanfaya called undiscovered Lanzarote.far to hectic, visit to timanfaya queues to get up there, ten minutes back on the coach, visit to green grotto, back on the coach, visit museum everywhere was ten minutes, winery for tasting one sip if you wanted more you had to pay.lunch was the longest off the coach forty minutes visit to the underground museum was a gem totally didn't expect that. But be warned if you have difficulty walking it's not for you.quite a few on the coach couldn't do a lot of the things. We done a lot of walking not far to del carmen we enjoyed our time there and other direction into matagorda.the beach is huge to stroll along was lovely.

Just got back from a lovely week at the Riu Paraiso and honestly cant complain about a single thing.
The weather was perfect, it was windy at times but that stopped it being unbearably hot, you definitely need a cardigan or trousers for the evening but that makes it easier to sleep.

Our room was in the nearest block, was lovely and near to everything yet wasn't noisy. We read a few bad reviews about the long walk to the other hotel block but walked it ourselves just to see and it really wasn't far at all, we wouldn't have had a problem with it.

The food really was excellent with far more choice than we have ever been used to at any other all inclusive hotel we have ever stayed in. Plus you also have the added bonus of being able to dine in the 3 other buffet restaurants they have at the hotel. We took fellow trip advisors advice and booked early so we got a table and it was really lovely.
Drinks were also really good. The red wine was very nice and I enjoyed some of the cocktails as well. You also get given free bottled water at reception which was a nice touch.

The beach was only a short walk across the road but we couldn't be bothered to go, especially as it was so lovely around the pool, there were plenty of sunbeds to go round and it was nice that there was a parasol per every 2 beds.

All of the hotel areas were scrupulously clean and the area around the pool area was mopped daily.
The animation team also did a fantastic job and the evening entertainment was pretty good too.

All in all we had an excellent holiday, would thoroughly recommend it and would love to go back :)
