“Holiday overall very good but food ok but reptitive!”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

5 of us stayed at the Riu Pariso for 2 weeks, we found it very clean but....we was given a ground floor room just down from the volcano night club, we were there for our first 3 nights and 2 out of them nights we come back to a cockroach in our room! On the 2nd occasion I rang reception but as it was quite late wasn't able to help me but they sent a maintence man with a spray. The next morning, the reception staff were extremley helpfull in relocating us! Staff are very friendly but food and drink becomes boring, but highly recommend a visit to the Asian restraunt!

We spent a week all inclusive here in August 2013 and what a great week we had.

Food was great with the normal buffet restaurant and 2 speciality restaurants which you could eat in as many times as you like. Service was great and the bar assistants got to know what we were drinking.

Travelling as a couple we didn't want to see a great deal of children and the entertainments team did a very good job of keeping them entertained. Evening entertainment was also good, very light and witty.

I believe it was once 2 hotels and for all there is a short walk via a bridge or gardens but to be honest its not really that far. Plenty of pool space for everyone however need to be up early to reserve a sunbed, to be fair though where don't you have to do this nowadays.

Cannot wait to visit again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building, these appear to be the more modern and not as far to walk for b...

We stayed for 10 days at the beginning of July and had a wonderful holiday. The hotel is very clean and tidy and all staff from cleaners to reception staff were friendly and smiling all the time.

We had rooms in the annex part of the hotel which was fantastic, so quiet and the walk really isn't that bad, took less than 5 minutes. If you have problems walking definitely request to be in the main building though. Yes the food and drink stopped in his side of the hotel at 6pm but the hotel reception provide you with large bottles of water whenever you want and personally I don't want to spend the evening sitting in my room anyway. The rooms were cleaned and serviced every day - even though my teenagers rarely surfaced before lunchtime their rooms were always made up when they went back in the afternoon.

We spent time at both pool areas but the smaller one in our area of the hotel was definitely our favourite, much quieter, there was never a problem getting sun loungers even though there were the usual phantom towels sitting there all day. If you have young children though I imagine the main pool would be better, that is where most of the action seems to be from the animation team.

I note people have complained about mosquitoes and cockroaches, I have to say did not see any of either while there, I am usually a dinner buffet for mosquitoes but nothing bit me!

The restaurant food was very similar but there was enough variety that you could have something different most days if you wanted, you don't have to have chips every day. outside main meal times the snack bars were usually chips/burgers but there was always loads of salad and fruit. The restaurant could get busy but we never had to wait for a table.

The only downside with the hotel is the evening entertainment - I have to say it was pretty poor, with one show we had absolutely no idea what was going on! The main bar area had lots of seating but the world cup was showing on the big screens so we had to hunt for chairs - always managed to get some though and as we don't mind football this wasn't a problem for us :)

Sophie and Dean (Thomson reps) were always on hand, smiling and ready to help or just answer questions. We did some of the trips and would definitely recommend the Catlanza boat trip (adults version!) and the half day to fire mountain.

Overall was a great holiday, we all came away feeling very relaxed, - my husband, myself and 2 children 16 and 18, was just what we needed after the stress of GCSE's and A Levels.

As a couple we would definitely go back here, One thing to note it is very windy and can get chilly in the evenings - take a cardigan/jumper. The wind is lovely in the afternoon though when the sun is beating down.

Room Tip: If you have problems with mobility or very small kids (who get grumpy walking when tired) ask to be...

Stayed at rui in June 2014 for 10 nights , this was our first trip to lanzarote and staying in a rui hotel. First impressions where very good as we had a late arrival we got sent straight to dinner before checking in after a long day of traveling. as it was our anniversary we got given a room with a beautiful sea view, we didn't pay extra for this so it was a lovely gesture. The room was cleaned every day without fail.
The hotel used to be 2 hotels but now have turned it into 1 big hotel. The grounds around the hotel were ver highly maintained and were very nice. The grounds at the back of the hotel are gated which lead onto the beach. There were lots of nice bars and shops a short walk from the hotel 5 to 10 mins walk. Staff were all very friendly and always went out there way to say hello. There is a nice little shop within the hotel which sells English papers, sweets, sun cream and all sorts of essentials. The only down side was lunch time as it was the same thing every day, pizza, chips, burgers and salad not a massive issue to us but would be nice if there was abit of a variety. Dinner time is different as there was always different foods to choose from.
Can't say much about the entertainment as we ventured out most evenings but there was always a noticed board letting guested aware of what's on. Weather was nice abit cloudy some mornings but then always cleared by lunch time." Don't be shy with sun cream" lol .
All in all had a great time and would return to the high stranded of any rui hotel. Hope this helps.

Room Tip: If you have children or if u are someone who struggles to walk very far ask for a room near the main...

We just came back from holidays and I have to say I really expected more from 4 star Riu after visiting few of them before. You can see below what bothered me about it.
We have booked via Thompson and this time went with a family. We paid around £630 per person for all inclusive
Hotel is really big and has fantastic location but very busy and dated. Main reastaurant was very busy in the evening at the beginng of July so I can not imagine what happens in a peak season. At times I saw people waiting in the queue to get a table.
Mexican restaurant was great so definitely worth booking with the reception and food is better quality than all inclusive buffet.
Food in all inclusive restaurant was ok for me being pescatarian with fresh fish fried every day and a lot of vegetables. However, my family who are a meat eaters were dissapointed. There is a very little choice of meat and quality is quite poor. Food choice does not really change much through out the week. Food is also very poorly marked in terms of what it actually is, if it is vergetarian or gluten free. That definitley needs improving.
All drinks apart from spirits are available via self service machines including wine on the tap!. once again very disappointed with wine, which was awful and you have no choice as no other is available at all even if you wanted to pay for it. Juices from the machines are awful but coffe was nice.
Spirits were only local and all cocktails premixed as always.
Hotel has two pools with bar and buffet (snack bar) each which is quite convenient considering size of the hotel.
Our double room was quite small and dated, with balcony and reasonable bathroom. For rest of family we paid for a family room which was located in bungalows area, was quite spacious but quite dated again. Quality of sleep is very poor, we had the most uncomfortable and squeeky beds ever and kept waking up all night every night. All rooms were clean so no issues with that. All comuncal areas are cleaned daily and very tidy.
In reagrds to service and staff they were as always absolutely fantastic, very polite, friendly and helpful, you can see them all working very hard. I have to say management was not much present around considering the size of the facility and how busy it was.
There are planety of bars, shops and restaurants nearby wihtin walking distance and easy access to beautiful but very windy beach.
We have not booked any organised trips but hired a car for 5 days and travelled around the island ourselves. Island is very small so you can actually see everything in 2 days. I recommend going to a weekly Tequise market, see cactus garded, caves and blue lagoon all by Manriqe Cesar as well as his own house in lava. All places are quite spectacular. It is also worth going to see amazing views from Mirador del Rio and Timanfaya national park which is fanatstic.
Overal experience of Lanzarote was good and I really enjoyed exploring this volcanic unusual island.

Room Tip: room facing bungalows have good central location

Never have we returned to a place twice but this hotel has a special place for us and our friends. We always choose the back hotel, we always choose the quiet side to sunbathe as we have no children, albeit there is a smaller pool for children too. We never have a problem with sun beds as there are ample for everyone. There is a variety of food to eat including large prawns, smoked salmon, salmon, and various meats to suite every taste. Lots of lovely sweets and ice cream. The Asian restaurant is a lovely change. Men are supposed to wear trousers on an evening, but this year we noticed the standards were slipping, but only in this respect.

The bar staff work exceptionally hard and ensure you don't queue for drinks. Beer, soft drinks and tea, coffee and hot chocolate are on tap for you to help yourself. Often I made hot chocolate and then added a brandy - yummee.

The hotel is situated overlooking the sea front and you can walk into puerto del carmen one way or towards the airport to the left. The beach is lovely.

The hotel is expertly run and nothing is a trouble for the staff. If you do have a problem then they will sort it.

We will be going back.

Room Tip: Choose the main hotel if you have mobility problems, otherwise the back hotel is quieter, but a shor...

Stayed at the rui in June for 10 nights, had a relaxing time! Worth the money for all inclusive
Recommend for families and couples, lots going on during the day and night as the entertainment crew do there best to please and there was also acts from outside amazing show from the Beijing aero bats. Food - eat mostly at the international buffet quite repetive choice but all done fresh, tried the Mexican didn't rate that much odd choices but def recommend the Asian really nice Chinese food! Resort- really clean and looked after our room was located close to the main reception but close to the night club which you heard slightly but not that loud! Excursions - volcanic trip to timfaylan park was worth seeing and local market in tegiuse esp if you like shopping and also did day trip to fvuventura! The main resort is about 15mins walk along the beach front really nice if you fancy some cocktails and tried one of the Asian restaurant long easy amazing food if you love Thai and Chinese! Didn't rate the Thomson reps much was hardly ever there and got ripped off on one of the excusions by dean the rep so make sure u check what you get before u book! In all enjoyed our first stay at the rui and would come back to lanzorote!

Room Tip: Don't stay in 407 and below if u don't wanna hear music till the early hours
