“Clean but dated, generally a bit dissappointing.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

On arrival the reception was modern and nice, nothing overly impressive but fine. When we got to the rooms we were disappointed. We had two rooms next door to each other in the part of the hotel closest to the swim up pool over the bridge from the reception. The rooms were clean and comfy although beds were rock hard we all slept fine and it was quiet. The fabrics and general decor in the room were dated and the TV was a big old one. We had to complain our fridge didn't work and a socket was damaged the repairs were done immediately. The bathroom was nice and spacious but it was a shower over bath and this was enclosed so very dark.

The rest of the hotel was nice and the grounds attractive but it was very large and difficult to navigate. The riu kids club seemed more of a variety of activities through the day in various places rather than a proper club such as that i have used before within a safe separate space. There were a few good adults activities too but children couldn't join in with these- nothing for the whole family, but we did play tennis and table tennis which you booked and just paid a deposit for. The night time entertainment also wasn't great it was mainly singing and short kids disco as expected, the flamenco dancers were good and the african show was very entertaining, but overall it wasnt particularly entertaining and we were in bed by 10 most nights, the kids spent a lot of time swimming playing pool and air hockey (1E) which they were happy with .

Buffet restaurant was quite good big selection but very samey through the week, the a la carte restaurants are also all buffets not waiter service and there isn't any music or anything that really makes them special. Also there is only 2 sittings 6.30 and 8.30 so it felt quite empty and not like a proper restaurant, the food was nice in all 3. Cocktail bar was great and a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails, no magaritas or schnapps though. The wine was all fairly nice and prosecco a lovely touch..

The general area was quite nice with a few shops, bars and restaurants an easy walk either direction from the hotel, we took the water taxi to marina and visited the old town and also went to Playa Blanca on the bus to the market and up the volcano. Playa Blanca was gorgeous, white sand beaches and rock pools I would recommend staying there or visiting for the whole day.

We went to the night club one night which stated over 18's had left the kids with grandma and when we got there was a lot of kids and parents all doing the macarena, was only a small room with bar and DJ, didnt stay as felt it would have been more fun if we too had taken the kids.

Had a slip at the top step of the ladder into the pool which caused and complained about this as the grips on step were missing, not rectified during our stay. The Thomson reps were nice but seems they cannot solve any issues as they just kept referring everything to the riu manager who was not bothered.

I have been to several other 4 star all inclusives including some holiday villages and I didn't feel this compared at all. It was just all OK, nothing really stood out as special except the sun loungers and all outside seating were all very comfy and the staff were attentive.

Room Tip: Maybe try the rooms in building with reception, these might be better.

We stayed at this riu in January. The weather was great, very hot during the day & nice & cool in the evening. Nice walk along the coastal path into Puerto del Carmen.
The food was great, we were only here for a week but I can imagine it becomes repetitive after 10 days. The a la carte restaurants are very good, with the Chinese being the best!
We enjoyed our stay so much we have just booked to return in December for a bit of sun before Christmas. Can't wait!

Just returned from The Riu Paraiso, overall a very good holiday, fabulous location, hotel very clean, everywhere was spotless, I noticed the water quality was checked at the pool.
We stayed at the quieter pool with the swim-up bar..(big thanks to Pedro, he was great).
The main pool was far to busy for us, plenty of sun-beds but everyone was literally crammed in, with no space to move. This hotel is two hotels as one now but honestly this is not a problem, if you want to use the quieter part walk throught the gardens to get there, really lovely.
It is a bit weird though if you use the walkway as you will come upon the un-used part of the hotel.
The main restaurant is very busy but just take your time walking around and you won't feel rushed, the food is great except for the desserts which where woeful, and never any queues for anything..anywhere,,,which was great. I think the fact that you can get your own beer, wine(really really bad white wine, undrinkable, even went and bought my own) soft drinks, tea, coffee etc is a great idea.
The animation team where fabulous with children and adults alike, but not intrusive, a very talented bunch indeed!
Beautiful walk all along the coast in both directions, left to Matagorda which is beautiful, go to Paradise restaurant on the sea-front it's great, and right to Puerto Del Carmen which is lovely along the sea front.
The staff overall where courteous, as they should be.
Overall a great holiday, would we return? Yes!

Room Tip: Don't expect free wi-fi shamefully for RIU it's only available at a cost in the Reception ar...

Just returned from a weeks holiday, for a family of four, exceeded all expectations, first time all inclusive so first time at a Riu. Hotel exceptionally clean, everyone fro the bar staff, gardeners, cleaners reception staff, to the entertainment team were all very friendly, and helpful. Yes the food was more or less the same every day, but we coked and presented, and you can mix and match , so you don't have to eat the same everyday. Don't take beach towels, these are supplied. My teenagers, didn't like the fact there was no wi-if, but for me that wasn't a problem . Taxis really cheap to go onto the centre of Puerto del Carmen. First holiday, I have come back with money, real value for money, will definitely do a Riu again. Special mention to Pedro, who looked after the Nemo bar. The 4x4 safari discovery trip is a must.

This is the second time we have been to this location with Thomson and totally enjoyed it. I was celebrating a special birthday and what a great way to do it. Lanzarote is our second home and this hotel is fab. Would recommend.

Room Tip: Great food, lots of choice, fab hotel staff.

My partner & I both 23, have just returned from the Riu Pariso we had a fab time.
The food was lovely and the 3 themed restaurants were great - our favourite being the Chinese.

The drinks were great, they had plenty of choice & everything we asked for they had. The cocktails were lovely!
The only thing I would say about the bars is that the pool bar wasn't always manned, so sometimes you would have to wait for the bartender to come back.
The main pool got busy early so you need to get your towels down early if you want to stay at that pool for the day but you could always find a space by the quiet pool.
We booked the holiday through Thomson & were extremely happy with them, we were given an amazing room on the beachfront, the views were fab!

We went into Porte Del Carmen most nights we would walk there (around 20/30min walk) then we would get a taxi home for around 4euros.
I would definitely visit again & would recommend to a friend.
This holiday was great value for money.

Firstly I will say that the staff here were lovely, I only had a problem late one evening when trying to speak with a desk member of staff about boarding passes when he did not speak English so did not understand what I was on about.

I travelled with my boyfriend and it was his 30th birthday the day after we got back so I had emailed ahead in advance to request that a cake be put in our room for our arrival (around 11.45am). We had booked directly with the hotel and requested a room with a sea view not on the ground floor. When we arrived, not only had they given us a room on the first floor with a beautiful sea view but they allowed us early check in and the cake was there (much larger than expected) with a bottle of prosecco and two glasses as well.

The hotel itself was very clean and the all-inclusive is the best I have ever seen. Cocktails and prosecco are included in the all-inclusive, along with an array of spirits/beer/soft drinks, anything you could want basically.

The pools are lovely, we were on the side with the pool bar, which suited me fine as it was the quieter side and the open nature meant that the sun stayed over the pool area all day.

The hotel is probably a 10 minute walk from the start of the Strip in Puerto Del Carmen, far enough to not be disturbed by noise but close enough to take a lovely stroll along the front there. We went to Paddy's Tequila Lounge one evening and had some really nice cocktails which are all two-for-one, although the menu does not state this.

We went on two trips - one to the caves and one to the national park. We booked the national park one from one of the reps at the hotel and booked the caves tour from one of the agents on the sea front - had no issue with either and would definitely recommend going on the trips as they are very interesting.

The night time entertainment was not really to my style but I imagine children or older people would very much enjoy it.

The themed restaurants were great, the Chinese was my favourite. The ordinary buffets contained a variety of foods and loads of different meats. Something for everyone and I am generally quite a fussy eater but had no difficulty in stuffing my face here.

Overall, the hotel was great, the weather was beautiful and I cannot fault anything about the holiday. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely go back if I were to visit Lanzarote again. A big thumbs up!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room, they're lovely, albeit some are quite a trek from the reception.
