Stayed between the 24th and 31st July. When booking in you get 3 keys, your hotel room door key, your safe key, the use of which comes as standard and a key for the hotels back gate which gives you access to the main road and beach. The rooms are spotlessly cleaned, although we pulled probably the worst room, 415 which had no balcony view other then the back of another block of rooms. Never really stayed in the room so that did not effect us.

Food was fantastic, be it in the main restaurant or the themed ones. Never had a problem finding a table and as soon as you sit down the staff are up to you offering coffee in the morning or water for the other meals. Plates are cleared away by the staff as soon as you finish them.

The tapped beer is Amstel and there are always iced buckets containing bottles of Cava in the bars, with plenty of cocktails for the adults and 'mocktails' for the kids to choose from.

We could never get wi-fi over 0.5meg download speed and when the wi-fi vending machine broke down, the staff gave out free access to another network, so you could always stay in touch etc.

There were no staff tip jars anywhere and speaking to the reps, apparently the company frown on tipping! If you leave anything for the maid, it should be left in an envelope addressed to her, and in the restaurants it just needs to be done discreetly.

The evening entertainment, was generally as you would expect from an animation team, 100% effort, but slightly less for quality. The outside acts that came in were the Beijing Jugglers and African Footprints, both of which were fantastic.

All in all a great hotel and I would not hessitate to go back.

We booked in for five nights, having visited before. The service and entertainment were as good as we had come to expect. The food in the main buffet restaurant is good as is that in the two specialist restaurants. The room was quiet and blissfully cool with the aircon on and the maid kept it very clean. The little touches that impress are the room safe and bottled water, both included in the room price. We are booked to return.

Room Tip: We tend to go for rooms on the higher floors that are not facing the pools but as long as you are not too close to the entertainment the noise should not be an issue.

This was my third trip on the isle Lanzarote and my first time in this hotel of the Riu hotel chain:

It is a very good club hotel with a lot, funny animations team for every age. On the evening is showing kids disco and a professional show, sometimes you can sing by karaoke or dance to classical music.

The food is also fantastic. International and sometimes special dinners with typical Italian, Spanish and Canarian cuisine. 2 speciality restaurants: One Asian and one Mexican (sometimes here: The best of Riu cuisine worldwide).
You can eat and drink a lot of hours with all-inclusive-service (until breakfast 7am to 11 pm, drinks later in the disco for adults)

Also available: Internet corner, hotel shops, fitness centre, a lot of great swimming pools, a nice and beautiful garden with an exit to the beach, a lot of car parks, volleyball field, tennis courts, children's playground, shooting area for air gun, air pistole, darts, etc., boccie field, disco (open from 23 o'clock until 2 am), a pool bar and a lot of sun louger with parasols around the pools.

Room Tip: For a great room books as single person a double room for a single room. The single rooms are a little bit small.

On arrival the reception was modern and nice, nothing overly impressive but fine. When we got to the rooms we were disappointed. We had two rooms next door to each other in the part of the hotel closest to the swim up pool over the bridge from the reception. The rooms were clean and comfy although beds were rock hard we all slept fine and it was quiet. The fabrics and general decor in the room were dated and the TV was a big old one. We had to complain our fridge didn't work and a socket was damaged the repairs were done immediately. The bathroom was nice and spacious but it was a shower over bath and this was enclosed so very dark.

The rest of the hotel was nice and the grounds attractive but it was very large and difficult to navigate. The riu kids club seemed more of a variety of activities through the day in various places rather than a proper club such as that i have used before within a safe separate space. There were a few good adults activities too but children couldn't join in with these- nothing for the whole family, but we did play tennis and table tennis which you booked and just paid a deposit for. The night time entertainment also wasn't great it was mainly singing and short kids disco as expected, the flamenco dancers were good and the african show was very entertaining, but overall it wasnt particularly entertaining and we were in bed by 10 most nights, the kids spent a lot of time swimming playing pool and air hockey (1E) which they were happy with .

Buffet restaurant was quite good big selection but very samey through the week, the a la carte restaurants are also all buffets not waiter service and there isn't any music or anything that really makes them special. Also there is only 2 sittings 6.30 and 8.30 so it felt quite empty and not like a proper restaurant, the food was nice in all 3. Cocktail bar was great and a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails, no magaritas or schnapps though. The wine was all fairly nice and prosecco a lovely touch..

The general area was quite nice with a few shops, bars and restaurants an easy walk either direction from the hotel, we took the water taxi to marina and visited the old town and also went to Playa Blanca on the bus to the market and up the volcano. Playa Blanca was gorgeous, white sand beaches and rock pools I would recommend staying there or visiting for the whole day.

We went to the night club one night which stated over 18's had left the kids with grandma and when we got there was a lot of kids and parents all doing the macarena, was only a small room with bar and DJ, didnt stay as felt it would have been more fun if we too had taken the kids.

Had a slip at the top step of the ladder into the pool which caused and complained about this as the grips on step were missing, not rectified during our stay. The Thomson reps were nice but seems they cannot solve any issues as they just kept referring everything to the riu manager who was not bothered.

I have been to several other 4 star all inclusives including some holiday villages and I didn't feel this compared at all. It was just all OK, nothing really stood out as special except the sun loungers and all outside seating were all very comfy and the staff were attentive.

Room Tip: Maybe try the rooms in building with reception, these might be better.

We stayed at this riu in January. The weather was great, very hot during the day & nice & cool in the evening. Nice walk along the coastal path into Puerto del Carmen.
The food was great, we were only here for a week but I can imagine it becomes repetitive after 10 days. The a la carte restaurants are very good, with the Chinese being the best!
We enjoyed our stay so much we have just booked to return in December for a bit of sun before Christmas. Can't wait!
