“Fantastic stay”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

We stayed at the Paraiso for a week in August with our two teenage boys and had a fantastic experience! We had read lots of reviews and it's true to say that the positive ones are most definitely the most accurate. We found the whole experience to be first class: location, friendly helpful staff, immaculate hotel, great range of food, fab facilities! The resort is big and that's an advantage because you can request a room where the activities are (close to the main restaurant) or in the quiet building if you want to unwind and just relax. We opted for the quiet side. Ask for rooms that are four digit - I'd recommend 2235 upwards as they have a pool view. The pool is great, there are lots of sun beds but are not so close together that it's intrusive; the snack bar/restaurant serves great salads as well as pasta dishes, pizza, burgers and hotdogs. If however, you want full restaurant service for lunch it is available in the main hotel - we did this only on the last day. The walk to the main hotel through the gardens takes 5 minutes max and about the same using the covered walkway. Breakfast was amazing: wide range of cooked food : fullEnglish, boiled eggs, pancakes, frittata, hams and salamis, cheeses - not to mention a huge range of fresh bread, rolls and pastries. Choose to eat this in the restaurant or on the terrace. Brilliant! The range of food for dinner is great, complemented by lots of salads, cheese and biscuits and lots of desserts. The local beers, wine and cava are good quality. The housekeeping team work hard to ensure the whole place is scrupulously clean and fresh, with rooms cleaned and sheets changed daily. The fridge in one of our rooms wasn't working and within an hour of reporting it, it had been replaced. We would definitely go back!

Room Tip: All the rooms are spacious but choose main building if you want to be close to restaurant and organi...

We stayed at this hotel for a week in August. I went with my husband and my 9 year old son. The food was great and the drinks were plentiful, including champagne. There were snacks during the afternoon including cake, ice cream and fruit. The hotel was well spread out and at no point during the holiday did we have a problem getting a sun lounger. Our bedroom was spacious and we did not feel cramped and plenty of fresh towels daily. Staff were helpful and people were always tidying up. My son took part in the kids club playing such games as basketball, water polo and football. He really enjoyed himself. I would say the however that the pool was rather cold even in summer but it only stopped me from going in not the rest of the family. My one gripe was the fact that when you were at the pool bar there was quite often no bar person present and you could wait up to 15 minutes for service. I have mentioned this on my Thomson questionnaire but that said I would definitely return at a later date for another holiday.

Room Tip: We had a room on the third floor overlooking the pool and it was nice and quiet but you could see wh...

The hotel is spotless and staff work tirelessly. The hotel is split into to buildings the main part that houses the reception area is where everything is. All of the restaurants, entertainment, coffee machines the lot. The second building is quieter but has zero facilities, just rooms. It is a few minutes walk from the main building but you need to balance out the benefits of the quietness over the lack of facilities. The rooms are a bit tired in the second building but the are spotlessly clean with very good air conditioning, the beds however are on the firm side.
There are two main pools, one in each building. The main building pool has daily entertainment and music most of the day, the second building pool is quieter. Both are packed with the usual reserve your sunbed before dawn if you want somewhere to sit. The beach is just over a main but very quiet road and is great, lifeguards on duty and a much much nicer option. Unless of course if you prefer rubbing shoulders with the person on the sunbed next to you at the pool (assuming you were up early enough to reserve one and it has not been stolen by someone else)
The food in the restaurant is great. It is a bit samey but there is so much on offer it doesn't matter. Very good quality and most of it cooked in front of you. The staff in the restaurant cannot be faulted they are relentless at collecting empty plates and have a permanent smile.
I liked this hotel a lot but I would stay in the main building if I returned.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the main part of the hotel

My parter and I made very clear when booking that we were looking for something relaxing and peaceful as I was in recovery after a leg operation. This was obviously overlooked as arrived and were given a room so far away from everything that you felt like part of a different hotel, which was situated beside the hotels "nightclub" along with another 9 or 10 rooms in a line on their own, there were bugs and bird droppings everywhere all over our balcony, which we had to clean ourselves everyday. Our rooms obviously just extra space and more money to be made.
When going to the main resteraunt you were put at a table for 2, with another table for 2... So you are realistically having 3 meals a day at a table with other couples. We didn't go during peak times for food as it was like feeding time at the zoo, people with no manners pushing and shoving past to get everything they want. Eating in was a horrible experience. The food alone was not worth this, not much for Brits, most of it was catered for German and Spanish people, unless you want to eat rice and stale chips every night then take a trip into Porto del Carmen. We had dinner in the hotel a few times at 9.00 because the manic had died down by this time, but even then it wasn't worth it.
We had similar problem with sunbeds, trying to get one was almost impossible, even when you did you were almost sunbathing on strangers, far too cramped.
We didn't see the female rep at all on our entire stay but we did see Dean, who was kind and helpful when we had questions.
The waiting staff tried very hard and found them all to be all so kind and helpful, they all look so tired and worn down yet they treat you like royalty, I am aware they work extremely long and gruelling hours, maybe a few extra days off or shorter shifts may be in order there, as for entertainers, they often didn't speak English mostly in German and Spanish, we were often left guessing what was being said over microphones, even things like bingo where the numbers were only called out in German... Not great...
As for a relaxing break, that was not had, it was just far too manic, overcrowded and over sold.

Have just spent 11 days at this hotel. Food was good, always plenty of choice. Snack bars at lunch are a good alternative. The hotel was so clean and our room was excellent. We had the family suite which gave us 2 bedrooms. During the day there are plenty of activities to keep all entertained. Pools were very nice however they were a little cold!!! Sunbeds always available so no need to get up early!! A hotel well worth a visit. Would definitely go back.

Main courses weren't the greatest, but as a veggie I always go to Spain expecting to eat basic stuff. Puddings made up for it though. Wrote to the hotel asking for quiet room, and got one by the snack bar. Was the quietest room I've ever had and was close for putting out towels and going back to get stuff from the room. Always lots of sunbeds available at 10am and weren't close together, although they were around the other pool. Were able to change towels right by the pool up to midday - never been that easy at any other 4* I've stayed at. Walkable to shops and bars and close to a great beach with big waves. Really close to airport, so short transfer but no plane noise.
