“Clean, basic, cheap, functional apartment. Nice resort.”
Reviewed 7 May 2010

Basic amenities but good all inclusive resort only 15 mins drive from airport. Spacious apartment within nice, clean spacious site. Quiet apartments separate to main dining/entertainment area. Approx 10 mins walk to beach. Windy in April. Swimming Pool cold in April. Food & drinks (all inc.) available 7.00am - 10pm. Late bar and nightly entertainment if required. Plenty of very good Spanish food but limited vegetarian choice, self service. Staff friendly but rushed. Launderette, grocery shop & book exchange on site. Free but limited sunbeds. Door to balcony cannot be opened from balcony - good for security but not when it is windy! Hob & Fridge provided. Room safe, kettle, hairdryer etc available at extra charge. Not suitable for elderly/ mobility problems as quite steep paths & steps on site. Steps and uneven paths to beach/shopping centre. Occasional aircraft noise during day.

Me and my boyfriend (aged 19 and 21) went to Sol Morromar Appartments from the 15th-22nd of April. It cost us about 5 euros each way to and from the airport, we were quite concerned that being near the airport would be noisy, you could hear and see the planes (when they were flying, stupid volcano) but we had no problem with that . The appartments are really clean and bright. The kitchen area had enough equipment for both of us, the bedrooms were great, comfy beds but could do with more pillows. The bathroom was also very clean. The maids must of come to the appartment about 5 times during the one week stay. The reception staff were really friendly and so helpful, they both spoke really good English. The pool area is really nice, go down about midday to get a sunbed; they go quite quickly, the pool is nice, Freezing!...but nice. There is also a jacuzzi.
We went self catering so we can't comment on the food or the entertainment, but we walked past the busy food area at night and it looked like alot of fun for kids and adults.
Matagorda is a really nice place if you want a relaxing beach holiday, The beach is an easy 5 minute walk down the road from Sol Morromar. There isn't alot to do in the day other than the beach, so dont go here if you want a lively holiday with lots to do. There are plenty of restaurants along the beach, and there is also a Spar next to the beach which was handy. We paid 5 euros for a taxi into Puerto Del Carmen, which was a fun day out, the biosfera shopping centre is a really nice place with a few well known shops. We went to the market in Tequise on the sunday, but that cost 25 Euros each way for a taxi! and wasn't worth that money at all, if there is a bus there then i would advise it, but don't waste 50 Euros on a taxi like we did.
The weather was lovely, i hadn't been to Lanzarote before and had heard it was really windy, but it isnt too bad, it's actually quite nice because it cools you down. There was one day where it was alot more windy but it still wasn't a problem for us.
Ignore reviews that moan about the tv and food. You dont go on holiday to watch tv and the food area was always busy so it can't be that bad surely?
I would definately recommend Sol Morromar appartments to anyone, it is a place that suits all ages. And I would go back tomorrow if i could.

arrived back from this hotel on 11th April. We found it very quite with very few guests. This hotel and grounds were spotlessly clean. Entertainment was prety good but very short lived. one hour each evening from 9.30 until 10.30.after which most people went to bed.The only hotel we have ever stayed in where you could have the pick of any sun beds.At the most busiest while we were there there could not have been more than 80 guests. .It was about a 15 minute walk to a shopping complex down losts of steps, to go the other way with out the steps would have taken you about 20 minutes to walk .about 15 mins walk to the lovely beach,45 mins walk to Porta Del Carmen.which was a lovely walk..The staff were very helpful especially Peter and Antioinia. The food was typical Spanish.you did not need to go hungry.
We would not go hear again as it was to quite

We have recently returned from a 1 week all inclusive holiday staying at the Sol Morromar apartments. Apartments are nice very clean and have lots of space, pool and gardens are also nice and well looked after. However there was a lack of sun beds (and the hotel management removed your towels if you were away from your beds for any length of time) Food was not that nice however we did not starve. Main problem I had with these apartments was the restaurant staff! very rude and I don’t think they smiled once, 1 day I had to order my food 3 time and she only got it right when I asked for the manager (don’t think it was a case of not understanding more not willing to listen) day time entertainment was none existing and they might as well have not bothered with the evening entertainment. No waiter service at this hotel and we queued for 20 mins 1 night to get a drink at the bar. I would stay at these apartments again however I would be prepared to eat/drink off site in the evenings.

We have recently returned from a very enjoyable stay at the Sol Morromar. Having read some of the reviews we were a little apprehensive but found this complex to be very good value for money. The apartments were clean and spacious, the gardens and pool areas were lovely and well tended, and all staff were friendly and hard working - particularly the girl runing the pool bar/snack bar. We were on an all inclusive basis which we found useful for day time drinks, lunch and snacks. We only ate in the restaurant in the evenings a couple of times as we prefer to go out - but the food was acceptable and not as bad as some of the reviews make out. Can't comment on the evening entertainment as we didn't see it. Matagorda itself is a lovely resort with ample shops, restaurants and bars and a lovely sea front. All in all an excellent holiday and would have no hesitation in returning to or recommending the Sol Morromar

Thse apartments are not well equipped for self catering - only two saucepans and no microwave, kettle, oven etc. so expect to eat out a lot. The apartment we were in let in water during the rain so we spent some time mopping up - the management gave us extra towels to soak up the water! The towels were, in any case, small and threadbare so take your own. The meals in the restaurant were OK but you get what you pay for. The beds were OK and the staff were helpful - e.g. we got extra blankets and pillows promptly. If you want cheap and cheerful this is the place. It was well served for supermarket. The entertainment was not really worth going into. There is no nightlife in Matagorda if you don't go out to eat and drink.
