Beatriz Playa & Spa
Ranked #44 of 91 Hotels in Puerto Del Carmen
Reviewed 5 February 2012

My Partner and I stayed at The Beatriz Playa in Matagorda from 29th December 2011 on an all inclusive basis. The hotel is only about 10 minutes from the airport which is really good. We booked with Direct Holidays and the flight there was no problem. We arrived at the hotel about 4pm and check in was quick. The hotel looked large and like a maze. We were given a side sea view room which was clean and very spacious. After dropping off our bags we went for a look around the hotel. The only issue I really have with this hotel was the fact that all the bars and restaurants were underground which i found quite strange. Was very cold when sitting in the bar at night which was rather uncomfortable. This is the only issue i had. The food was okay but if your vegetarian dont go. They bearly catered for us at all. I ended up eating chips most of the week. There are 2 other restaurants you could eat in, one being an Italian which was included in the all inclusive and also a fusion restaurant which i think you had to pay 4 euros each for. We didnt bother with this one. We tried the Italian on a couple of occasions and it appeared to be the same food each time. Was okay but nothing great. I think out of all the meals the breakfast was probably the best. You can get Cava in the morning too if you want.

The entertainment at night was okay seemed to last longer than most hotels in the canaries but wasnt anything great. If you had a room above the bar and went to bed before 12 you would be bothered with noise so best ask for a room on the opposite side.

There is a Spa too but unlike most all inclusive hotels you had to pay for this which to me is odd for a 4 star hotel. I think the only way this hotel has been upgraded to 4 star is because of the spa.

There were plenty of sunloungers every day. There are 2 pools and one is heated and the other was freezing. There is a beach across the road but it isnt anything great.

If you fancy a walk into Puerto Del Carmen dont be fooled by the rep telling you its a 30 minute walk. It isnt. At least a good hour and a bit. Taxis are quite cheap and you can also take a bus as well.

We went to Rancho Texas Park (animal park) which was lovely. If you eat in the restaurant they put on a cowboy show which your eating which is quite good. We also did swimming with Sea Lions which I would recommend to anyone. It was a fab experience.

All in all we had a fab holiday and the hotel was good. I dont think i would go back because of the underground feel it had but dont let this put you off.

As the airport is very near you the planes land going over the hotel all day. This didnt bother us at all. Was good to see and probably the closest you will ever come to feeling a plane underneath you.

If you have any queries, please feel free to ask.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room ask for room on opposite side from the bars.

Just back from staying in the beatriz playa hotel in matagorda and feel the need to give my honest opinion. First time going al inclusive and was pleasantly suprised. Food was great well presented and good choice.Location excellent ,right on the promenade, all on the flat so great for people who love walking. No complaints about anything, room view breathtaking over looking the sea.Staff very friendly and helpful. Loved the social aspect of the all inclusive will defintetly do it again and return to this hotel. The entertainment was typical and was the same in the other hotels. The staff tried there best, but alot depends on the crowd on the night. lucky enough we had a good jolly crowd so we enjoyed the craic. Please dont believe the bad reviews go and try it out for yourself you will have a brillant time.My only problem was i only went for a week. ENJOY.

Room Tip: 3rd floor rooms from 3060 until 3070 fantastic sea view. sun hits the balcony from 8am til 6pm.love...

just got back from a stay at the Beatriz Playa and Spa.hotel room was good nice and clean but did'n't think much of the terrace.the spa was brilliant .The food! oh the food! awful.the hot food was always cold more or less the same thing every day (we were all inclusive) The chinese food night what a disaster there was a charge of 4 euros per person(bit of a cheek if your all inclusive) there was certainly nothing oriental about it i suggest they get a chinese chef to cook it.We did'n't chance the Italian night after that experience. The entertainment was dire. two girls and a boy screeching every night alleged belly dancers and acrobats.Need i say more? an experience i won't be repeating

Have just got back after a weeks stay here 22-29 Jan and having read some of the reviews felt that I should add my own. We had a great stay in this hotel, the communal areas are really nice albeit the rooms could do with some updating, however they are clean and spacious. We travelled as a family with a 4 year old and the hotel and resort was perfect for us. The food was of very good quality, always a good selection, we did enjoy the Italian and went twice. My wife required a gluten free diet and the hotel was more than accommodating with a good selection. We never had any issues with cold food nor did see anyone using the microwaves to heat theirs. This was our 4th time in Lanzarote having previously stayed in Puerto del carman in the past, but preferred Matagorda. We attempted the walk to the centre of Carmen on the first day but gave up after an hour and got a taxi! A taxi to the centre only cost around 6 euros and don't book the transfers from the airport as tour company wanted £45 for the 3 of us. A taxi from the airport was only 11 euros.

We arrived on the 5th of Jan around 3-30pm, were very quickly sorted by the reception staff.
The reception is very modern and plenty of room to relax, lovely staff very helpful.
Our room was very nice on the 3rd floor, there are only three floor like most hotels in Lanzarote.
We had booked a sea view room "WOW" what a view over 2 pools and the coastline to P D C.
On a clear day you could clearly see Fuerteventura from the balcony (Room 3022)
It was my wifes Birthday and a lovely bottle of Champagne and large baskets of fruit, were waiting in our room .(Thankyou very much)
At first the hotel seems a bit of a maze, but after a few hours it's easy to get around.
There are so many lifts you never have to wait, and plenty of walkways for the disabled.
We were A/C and loved it all...........!
The Restaurant is on floor ( -1 ) so just walk into lift to this floor, if you are on the other side of hotel, once on floor just walk through shops and your there!

Breakfast

We enjoyed this every day nice cooked food/ eggs /bacon/ sausage/ beans pancakes /fried tamato/ mushrooms / plus loads of cereal cold meats and lovely fresh breads and cakes.
I read one review someone said the food was cold! and theres a microwave to warm it up?!
The Microwave my friend is for parents to warm milk and food up for infants!!! ever seen them in 5* hotels.
If you like nice fried eggs they are cooked as you walk in the door to your right, also you get the pancakes here.
If you like your eggs done on top, just ask them to flip no probem had 2 every morning.
You are shown to a table or if not busy just seat yourselves, you get your own tea/coffee and drinks.
If you like cava for breakfast it's plentliful and very nice, plus lots of other juices and drinks.

Lunch

You can take this in the lower restaurant or poolside restuarant, we tried both, and enjoyed both.
Seemed more choose in the lower but both offered hot meals soups and cold meats and salad.
Cakes sweets fresh fruit.
Drinks again you get your own, tea / coffee / wine / cava / beers / sangia,

Dinner

Lots of choose hot and cold,soups/ rump steaks / pork / lamb / chops, / stews / venison/
Fresh Salmon / Cod / Haddock / Sword fish / and many more local fish.
Plus lots more dishs like spag bowl.
Sweets are endless from fresh fruit cocktail to cheesecakes jellys rice puddings plus nice cheese board.
All drinks are flowing just help yourselve, it's great knowing it's all paid for........!
Again someone said they serve up food from breakfast at luchtime?!
Yes they do like hard boiled eggs etc when they have cooked 50 plus eggs they are not going to bin them ( they are still fresh)
Tips
Safety deposit box costs 3 euro per day, this includes insurance if your box is broken into.
Very east to use reception give you a card, place in slot turn handle remove key locked! put key in green light turn handle open!!
Fridge
As said before cost 15 euro but buy 15 euro of drinks and it's free, then fill up from supermarket.
Kettle
You can hire a large kettle for 2 euro 40 cents per day, this includes tea coffee milk and is great value ( Liptons Tea)
Downside
If you don't like kids aircraft quite location then it's not the place for you.
Animation team
Great with kids and adults work very hard putting shows on each night(not Sunday) also some great artists on the bill (Kids disco 8-30 till 9pm)
The area outside is flat far miles lots of bike hire from 2 wheels to 6 wheel fun trolleys and no traffic!!! about 2-5 mile into P D C

Thanks to all the staff for a great holiday, will be back soon

Room Tip: 3rd floor views are fad Room 3022

We’ve just returned from yet another great holiday at The Beatriz Playa.

We received a warm welcome at reception and as we were repeat guests there was a bottle of champagne and a basket of fruit waiting for us in the room. We requested and stayed in the same room as last year. Great maid service, the room was spotlessly clean, lovely white towels changed daily and really comfortable beds.

Last year we were so well looked after and I have to say the same goes for this year. I cannot understand the negative comments about the food, we find it to be excellent and there is a lot of variety. The All Inclusive drinks are great and plentiful, the bar staff work so hard to serve you as quickly as possible.

The entertainment put on by the Animation team is awful as are the 3 singers that seem to be on most evenings. Having said that, there are some evenings when you do get to see a professional show such as the Donervi Family, Lezzi Acrobats and Orient Nights, thoroughly enjoyable. Although some evenings the entertainment wasn’t our cup of tea, we met up with lots of guests that were there last year and also made some new friends this year so all in all a good time was had by all.

Rather stupidly last year we didn’t visit the Spa but this year we went more than once, it’s fantastic! Absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone. We certainly will not miss an opportunity to use this terrific facility again in the future.

Really love this hotel and we are looking forward to visiting again next year.

Ditto with all the other reviews, tip buy 15euros of drinks then you get the mini fridge free (as it's 3euros a day if not).

just one major tip we hired a car from the car rental people at the hotel, you will be given a crap car that has a number of faults.... go into the centre to hire

Room Tip: room 503 was very quite as any room at each end of the hotel will be
