We have just come back from a 5 night stay in the Penthouse at Lago Verdes in Puerto Del Carmen.
The apartment has spectacular views of the harbour below and a lovely terrace area with sun loungers, chairs and even a clothes airer should you need it.
The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with shower and large sliding patio doors which open onto the terrace area. There is plenty of storage space in the wardrobes.
The other 2 bedrooms have two single beds in them and again plenty of space to store your items whilst you are on holiday.
There is another bathroom with shower and a large living space with 2 sofas. The owners have kindly left a selection of videos, dvd’s and books so you would still have plenty to do if you decided to stay in for the day/night.
The kitchen is well stocked with all the cups, glasses, cutlery etc that you could possibly need during your stay. There is also a good sized fridge freezer. We didn’t use the hob but the oven worked fine when grilling our morning toastie sandwiches.
The only minor downside is that there is no safe to store your valuables in the apartment and although you can hire a safe in reception for the duration of your stay, you can only access it when the reception is open (daily 8am to 4pm when we were there) so it is only really useful for storing passports etc.
The complex itself is well run and Andy in reception was extremely helpful in explaining to us the costal walking route to Puerto Calero with its amazing views and organising a taxi for us to visit the Music Hall Tavern (great night out). You can also use the free Wi-fi when in the reception but will have to pay for it separately if you want to use it in the apartment as well. You are given an access code that lasts for the duration of your stay and costs €3.00 per day (€15.00 for the week).
The Pool Shack run separately by Tom, Louise and their family became one of our favourite haunts for a lunchtime snack – BBQ Chicken Wrap and Chips is highly recommended – and there were plenty of sunbeds available for us to use around the newly refurbished infinity swimming pool. What we particularly liked was there were signs up that said that they would remove towels from sun loungers that had been left empty for over 1 hour so this meant that bed blocking wouldn’t be an issue even in the height of Summer.
The apartment is located on a hill so most people walk down to the harbour / strip and then get a taxi back which costs about €5.00 (including tip).
There are plenty of places to eat out in the harbour area and we particularly liked the steakhouse ‘El Cangrejo Rojo’ where we were treated to a fabulous Chateaubriand. We also liked ‘Mario’s Pizzeria’ which was nearer and can be seen from the terrace of the apartment. If you like spicier foods we would also recommend a visit to ‘Emma’s Cantina Mexicana’. As we were only there for 5 nights we didn’t get a chance to eat on the Strip but it did look like the choice was varied and the prices were lower than the harbour area. There is also a local Spar supermarket nearby if you decide to use the apartment facilities for self catering.
One must-do when you are in Puerto Del Carmen is going to see the drag artists at Music Hall Tavern. It was a fantastic evening and the included meal was nice. The stars are amazing and had us laughing continuously throughout the show which was a mixture of song, dance and parody. They also support the Macmillan Cancer charity in the UK and therefore proceeds from the sale of brochures etc go to a very worthy cause.
Overall we had a fantastic time in Lanzarote and will definitely be using the Penthouse again in the future – just need to sort out the dates and make sure it is still available.
The apartment is very well equipped and extremely comfortable. There were 3 friends travelling together and the apartment is jdeal as we have a bedroom each and there are 2 bathrooms, perfect. The balcony is large and sunbeds are provided. The view is beautiful
with great sea views and of the island of Fuerteventura. The pool area and pool bar are also lovely, with plenty of sun beds and sun shades available. There are shops and restaurants within walking distance and the harbour is close. Some people may take a taxi
ride back as it is all uphill. We have been to the apartment before and will holiday there again.
Stayed in lago verde A8 nice apartment balcony ideal, pool area and bar very good. Shops and bars close by.
Located in old town. Relaxed atmosphere , lovely view from the spacious balcony.
Apartment itself is very comfortable with everything you need to enjoy your stay....just like a home from home.Kitchen good size. Everything was clean
Lovely friendly people at the pool bar , great food and of course good selection of drinks and cocktails drinks which were delicious ...Pool lovely , even though water a little cold at this time of the year i did brave it and enjoyed it !
This was my first visit to Lanzarote and i immediately booked to go again later this year ....and to the same apartments ...I could not fault our accommodation , it was great , everything you need to have a comfortable stay.
The kitchen had a good size fridge and full size oven and hob which made cooking quick and easy.
The location was good with short walk to harbour and shops.
Plenty of restaurants if you wanted to eat out ,one being literally across the road where the food was excellent and good value.
Reception staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable and able to advise on attractions, excursions etc and would happily call a taxi for you if you wanted one.
