have visited puerto del carmen quite a lot over the past 4 years, and it just gets better every time. Although I've mainly stayed in private villas, I've eaten out most nights. Would Recommend Lani's Grill (south end of Avenida de las Playas) staff were excellent and the food top notch. It can get a it busy though, so, you may have to wait at peak periods. Ruta 66 is fine for a cocktail, as is Tropical (though it has changed over the past year).
There are a number of really excellent restaurants at the harbour - which I only discovered during my last trip.
The resort is ideal for airport and visiting island attractions - pretty central and is serviced by a number of bus routes.
