“Grand Fiesta”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

We have just come back from a long weekend in Palma and stayed at the HM Grand Fiesta in room 311, from the reviews and pictures on line it looked great, We wern't disapointed as the hotel itself was lovely..This was the first time we have been to Mallorca and did'nt know what to expect or where the best area was. We arn't the sort of people to like Magaluf or similar places, we like small friendly areas with nice restaurants.... The overall visitor to this area was German which we think is a good indication of the quality it was clean, served a good breakfast although the fruit juice could have been better, it was powdered not fresh, we could'nt use the facilities as it was raining and very dull for most of the time we were there. The rooms were a good size with a balcony and a decent bathroom, they were cleaned daily and the towels were changed daily too. over all the only thing I found fault with was the parking area, we managed to park perhaps 2 out of the 4 days we were there, though it said you didnt need to book a space, I can imagine in the height of summer it would be a nightmare... the surrounding streets however have places, though again I can imagine in the height of summer it would also be a problem...It was about 10mins drive from the airport and about 15 mins into the centre of Palma.. Via the M19 ring road. The hotel has a lift and disabled facilities... Would I stay there again I'm not sure, perhaps because of the convienience, but it was just a little too big a Hotel for Us......

Great location. Beach clean across promenade. Good access to buses, shops etc. Lifts too small, struggled to get buggy in and out to 4th floor daily. A busy times takes some time to get lift. Got a non smoking room, but when patio door open smoke came in from smoking area below, so couldn't keep it open. Bath small for 4 star. Fresh food cooked but limited choices and very bland. Room small. Decor tired and furniture a bit shabby. Fitments dated. No warning from hotel that adjacent hotel had works, drilling every day. So very noisy. No English channels on sky except sky news. No child friendly areas for little walkers. Staff generally friendly though. All inclusive drinks and choices good. Heated pool cold one day, hot next. Entertainment poor!

I spent 3 weeks in this hotel for the 5th time. This year the food was must better. More variety e better quality. The rooms are good and the hotel is very quiet. The staff was friendly as usually. The only aspect that I didn't like it was the fact that we had to pay to have wi-fi in hall. On the past years the wi-fi was free in the hall.I think that isn't a good policy.

Room Tip: If you like to see a good sunset ask for the rooms on the west side.

It was a beautiful place but the service , the food was bad . The internet wasn ' t free . The bar wasn ' t 24 hours open . The juice was water with color not fruit juice . You should take way everythink with value because it wasn ' t safe room. Imagine that I have gone in the beach with a very big bag with everythink on it , documents , jewleres , etc... And there was a safe box in the room that you should pay to use it.

After spending a long time choosing a hotel to stay in, i was thrilled at the choice we made. You can get there from the airport in 15 minutes by getting the 21 bus for 2,50 (the bus stop to get off is hotel Cabalero) and despite being close to the airport, there was no noise. We arrived 2 hours before check in and they had a room already available for us. Receptionist was very nice, spoke perfect English and was very helpfull! The room was on the 7th floor, really fresh and bigger than i had expected with lots of wardrobe space and drawers. It was very clean and had a great balcony overlooking the sea and Palma city and mountains. Bathroom had a bathtub and shower which all worked very well, and the rooms were cleaned every day. We went half board and breakfast had a good choice from fruit, cereal, pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast and a good selection of different pastries, Pots of fresh coffee and a selection of Tea's to choose from. No English breakfast, but you shouldnt expect that when going abroad. Dinner was really nice with different choices every night from Sushi to Burgers and Ribs alongside other dishes available each night like Paella, several different grilled fish and meat and great salad bar. There were different cakes and ice cream for dessert and it was all unlimited although you do have to pay for your drinks in the evening. The waiting staff serving drinks and clearing plates are all very nice and friendly, Especially Antonia (Red haired lady) who was so sweet i wanted to take her home with me! There was a very nice outdoor seating area which played easy listening music in the evenings and they sell very nice coctails there!! There was a guy called Toni singing out there on the first night which we watched and listened too from our balcony which was was brilliant! The Beach was just over the road, which had practically no traffic other than police cars, (the police station is behind the hotel) and horse and carts in the evening as the traffic uses the road to the back of the hotel. You have a choice of two buses that can take you to Palma city which run late, The 15 and 25 which cost only 1,50 each way and take about 20-30 minutes depending on which bus. (The 15 is quicker) There are several bars about 10-15 minute walk towards A'renal, which is nice if you do fancy having a night out, but do not want the noise from the bars in the early hours if you dont. There are also several different places to eat, Restraunts and snack bars in a very short walking distance. This hotel is in the 'German/Dutch District' but this for me was never a problem, in fact i think it was a positive. I never had an issue with anyone not speaking English and all the other guests seemed very nice and friendly so this should not put people off. After all, if you want to go to Majorca and be surrounded by nothing but other Brits, then go to Magaluf! All in all, this hotel was a really comfortable clean friendly hotel which is what you want from a holiday hotel. We felt very happy with our choice and felt we got very good value for money when going during peak season! We would love to go back again!

The only Negatives which are very small - There are 3 lifts which only really fir 2-3 people so beng on the higher floor, you may have to wait esp around dinner time.
The T.V only has 2 English channels - BBC world news and CBS news

Room Tip: Rooms facing the airport get the evening sun, the other side get the day time sun.

Lovely hotel great location. Food excellent, staff really friendly, very accommodating. Really Recommend this hotel but will say, Playa De Palma is a German resort - we only heard 6 English people in the whole week we were there.

The location of the hotel is superb in a select area in Playa de Palma, a short bus ride from Palma City, the buses very frequent and cheap, the hotel opposite a lovely long white sandy beach, with a clear blue sea, clean and safe for families, a lovely long promenade which is flat, and cleaned everyday, lovely for strolling during the day and night, bikes to hire, trolley train, lots of shops and cafes, not discos, the hotel and bars are mainly geared towards the Germans, but there were French, Spanish and Russians occupying the hotel, I think we were the only English speaking couple there, the Germans, I would say demand better standards and this reflects on the area which is between Can Pastilla and Arenal. both these resorts were not for us, more for the young and lively!!!
The hotel staff are polite, friendly and efficient, always have a smile for you. It is clean and well maintained, and all rooms have a sea view, definitely warrants the 4 star, if just for location alone, we really enjoyed sitting outside with a drink on the hotels veranda, and sunbathed on comfortable sunbeds overlooking the beach, where you could 'people watch' and enjoy a drink from the very good all inclusive service, not all drinks were available on this option, except for wine, beer, choice of four cocktails, brandy, gin, whiskey, rum and sangria, we could not fault the buffet style restaurant food where meats and fish were freshly prepared for you, with a good selection of salads, cold meats, cheeses, bread, desserts and fresh fruit. The outdoor pool was very pleasant as was the bar areas both inside and outside, with a few tables to eat al fresco. We would not hesitate to holiday at this hotel again, it was a very pleasant relaxing experience.

Room Tip: The front facing rooms are superior rooms, therefore they are more expensive, but have an super sea...
