Stayed end April for 3 nights, check-in smooth and quick, room on top floor (615) with view overlooking front pool and sea.. Clean room and nice sized bathroom with full bath and bidet.. In room safe but extra charge, but nice sized fridge. TV had just 2 english channels.. Good sized balcony. Air con apparently not available til beginning of May. Breakfast in the mornings was super - lots of fresh fruit, cereals, bacon, sausages and choice of eggs, including freshly fried eggs and omlettes.. Hotel seemed busy but no queues for any food even at peak times.. Buffet dinners were excellent, with different themes each evening. Plentiful steaks, chicken and fish, and nice choice of sweets. Entertainment on each night - bit basic, but entertaining particularly the dance duo featuring dances from around the world. All staff friendly and helpful. Easy walk of several supermarkets for local Beers (under 2 euros a litre) .. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room facing the sea. We emailed hotel prior to stay.

Stayed for 4 nights in April for my daughters 18th birthday. Majority of guests were either taking part in a cycle race or elderly Germans - the hotel was very quiet in the day & plenty of space around the pool. Hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. Room (103) had amazing sea views and of the local sailing club. Hotel has a great position on the promenade - no sound disturbances and bars and shops in walking distance. There was some (day) flight noise but only in the background. Food was average - plenty of choice but lacking flavour and warmth but you will not go hungry. Drinks prices are higher than the local bars but there is entertainment at the hotel each evening.
Beach towels are available from reception for 10 € deposit each but if you want a clean towel they charge you €1 (never been charged before!!)
Didn't feel this was a 4* hotel - most of the men were wearing track suit trousers to the evening meal - in fact I don't think they had a dress code!

I reviewed the El Cid last year and gave it 4 stars.
I have no reason to change my mnd....food very good, staff in restaurant are superb. Cleaning staff very good.
However the old girl with the downturn mouth on reservations does not appreciate loyal customers.
Last year I requested by email a top floor room (this is an old hotel so noise from next door or particularly above is accentuated by the tiling on the floor) and when checking in I said is room 5?? top floor and she said it was.....no it wasn't.....6th floor is top floor.
So armed with this knowledge I booked their most expensive suite (although not expensive and large with 3 balconies) and requested top floor for this booking and a normal room for a night a week later the day before our departure from the airport.
Guess what we allocated a 4th floor room.....she in charge of reservations said not possible to have a top floor room.
Ah well so i didn't expect too much on our last day on the return for our last night booking.....and not surprised she who clearly didn't enjoy here job allocated floor 1 whithin the stair well so we heard every noise from that night's entertainments.
I don't know what you need to do to get a top floor at this hotel......so as the trip in January and next year we've booked the Marina Luz in C'an Pastilla....see my previous review it's very good

We were booked to stay one night at this hotel as part of a Eurobike tour around the island of Mallorca. When we arrived we were shocked to be led to a row of rooms behind the tower.
The room was dark and faced the side of the tower. We thought these were staff rooms.

When we voiced our displeasure we were told there was nothing else open.
Of course, the manager was "unavailable".
We stay in 30-40 hotels per year and have never been treated so poorly.

Shame on you El Cid for even having rooms like this.

Needless to say, we did not stay that night and booked a room at a different hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room in the tower.

Spent 5 nights here as an extra break with my mum who is 78. The staff were all very helpful especially when we needed a doctor and a trip to the hospital for my mum. Fortunately she was only there for a few hours and on our return the staff could not do enough to make sure we were ok. The hotel is spotless, lovely view of pool and beach from our balcony. Food is fine, there is something for everyone even the fussiest of eaters. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this hotel. All in all I could not find one single negative thing about the hotel. Already planning our next trip there.

The El Cid is in a great location on the seafront. The room was lovely - very clean, comfortable bed, big balcony overlooking the beach. I stayed half-board. Breakfasts and dinners were delicious - buffets with a great selection available, very good food. The staff were very helpful. Bus stop close by to get a bus to Palma City which is beautiful - an essential visit! I also spent a very enjoyable afternoon at Palma Aquarium - a 5 minute walk from the hotel. I would definitely stay again at El Cid.

The hotel is situated in Can Pastilla area which is located at the beginning of Palma beach, and very near to the airport (so close that in the back corridor windows you can see the landing strip-airport!) about 5 minutes car ride. There´s a lovely promenade along the beach reaching from Palma beach to the Arenal. The hotel surroundings are very quiet and peaceful, with some good restaurants, small bars and shops making it perfect for families with small children or for some one who wishes for a quiet atmosphere (opposite to Arenal area where the loud music, live music, pubs, bars, discos and all the "action" is). the building itself is a y shaped one with virtually all rooms facing the sea, making it with a exceptional location. Its a late 90´s style hotel, with motives of El Cid Spanish hero - with hallways, bar and sitting rooms (spacious and clean) but a little outdated. Reception staff nice and friendly. All the hotel is fully equipped for handicapped people at every sense (since a elevator in the swimming pool, access ramps, wc...). The rooms are small, making it smaller if you have a cradle in it! and a little outdated and simple (90´s style - without any renewal), but nevertheless with a good balcony and sea front view. Despite some nice electric appliances (like a plasma Tv and a empty frig) there´s a general lack of electric outlet making it very difficult to connect a computer or phone charger without disconnecting other things... Bathroom normal, with good selection of amenities (hair dryer broken...). 2 Swimming pools (beach front and backside hotel), with shades and sunbeds and a nice ambiance. We stayed in full board during our vacation. Breakfast with a nice selection of fresh fruits, breads, cheeses ans such... nice corner with soja milk, and Bio products, despite the juices are with artificial.... . The lunch is another story... they only open the restaurant at 13h (and do not allow the use of the restaurant microwave for baby/children food...) although were´s something in the grill (always chicken, beef or fish), they do recycle food from the dinner night before and there is not many varieties and specially a abnormal absence or children food! At dinner a slight improve in quality (nice salad selection, pseudo-thematic nights, fresh fruits), but again some recycling in cold salads/foods. One awful and unbelievable in the afternoon we went to the bar for some sandwiches and snacks, we were informed that the bar is only for drinks (but is open since the early morning...), and furthermore they had no bread (or food.......)!!!, we had to go outside to eat.... . No animation during the they, at night different shows in a large room were the bar is (plenty of drinks choices, but no snacks....).
