Excellent return visit to the El CID Hotel. This hotel is our favour on the island, the staff are so welcoming and the house keeping team are excellent 10 out of 10 for cleanliness
We return again in May and we can't wait it's such a relaxing location and we are so pleased that the El CID hotel is now an Adult only hotel.

Stayed here for 5 days on long weekend break. Took less than 5 mins in taxi from airport 20 Euro(booked through TaxiPMI.com). Stayed in Superior room on 5th floor, great view of pool and beach. Nice modern bathroom with wet room style shower, large rainforest shower head and also hand held showerhead. Plenty of toiletries and towels. Small fridge provided with plenty of space for water and drinks. Room safe was extra 2.50 per day which I felt should be included in room rate. Pool towels are available if required from reception 10euro returnable deposit. Stayed on half board basis, breakfast was plentiful although catered more for German clientele. Evening meals were excellent with plenty of variety all buffet style.
Hotel has 3 pools, 2 outdoor unheated and an indoor. Plenty of sunbeds available at any time of day.
Loads of bars, restaurants and shops all within stones throw of hotel. Supermarket next door however quite expensive, walk another 5 mins into Can Pastilla for larger supermarket and a lot cheaper.
Would definitely recommend hotel for a nice quiet relaxing break

The lobby area looks ok when you walk in and has a really strong scent of talcum powder!

Receptionists have no charm or personality whatsoever, so you don't get the welcoming you'd expect from a 4 star, (although this is certainly not a 4 star, 2 star at best). They might as well just have a self service check in computer.

One guy even tried to start an argument with me after mishearing the room number I said, even after the problem was solved he carried on! To be fair though, I think he'd just done the night shift, so he was probably a bit tired and just wanted to go home.

Once you leave the ground floor, it's like walking into the 1970's. From the ground floor, where it's all nicely decorated with modern tiles, mirrors, decent lighting and clean looking, a walk up the stairs gives you a good idea of what the rest of the hotel is really like. Once you pass this it is all old woodchip wallpaper, painted white, probably had a recent touch up in the 90's, and old beaten looking carpets.

The rooms are a good size, with two reasonably comfortable beds, although I'm not sure how often the bedding gets changed. Maybe weekly. There is a really small television in the room that sometimes works. Well it worked once to be exact. There is also a small fridge, which was handy, and a safe in the room, but you have to pay. Wifi was decent, probably the best thing about the place.

Bathroom is decent too actually.

Gym is dog poop. They didn't even have the right size weights to put on the bar, so there's an accident just waiting to happen. Better of just going for a jog along the beach front, and there's some beautiful views along the way.

Overall, I've stayed in higher standard bed and breakfasts 15yrs ago in the uk when I wanted somewhere cheap to stay on the piss in Nottingham for £20 a night. Now that's bad!

Good luck, and enjoy if you ever come. The area is beautiful, just a shame about the hotel.

Dear Bertlush,

I am sorry if your stay was not Ok at our establishment. We will also talk to our reception's team to clarify what did exactly happen. Our clients are our priority.

About the TV not working, I would be very grateful if you tell this to the reception next time. They will bw glad to send you a technik to fix it.

The gym has now new machines from this year, although nit is true that it might be a bit small.

The bedding in changed every three days to our guests. Next time you think that your sheets have not been changed please tell us and we will change them.

Thanks very much,

Kind regards

You see is what you get. Large hotel means a lot of people. But the staff copes well. Breakfast and dinner are great. Friendly staff, especially the lady at the coffee bar. They should have more places outside to have breakfast/dinner. Rooms are ok, but not a lot of privacy on the terraces.

Stayed at the El Cid from 29th October to 2nd November 2016. Had emailed hotel prior to our journey requesting corner room with 2 balconies even thought I had only booked a standard room for a very reasonable price. Was given room 201 on check in which was fantastic with 2 balcony with sun on them from sunrise to sunset. The lady on reception was very helpful, I think her name was Maria so well done Maria for granting my requests.
Hotel has great location right on sea front. Food was adequate for the price paid and I did not go hungry or would not complain about the food. If you want 5 star food then pay 5 star prices. Eggs cooked fresh every morning, delicious coffee served every morning from the coffee bar by a lovely friendly lady. Beautiful whipped ice cream available every evening for dessert.
Great pool out back with good quality rattan sunbeds and mattresses.
Could not believe how quiet the resort of Playa de Palma was at mid term. Had 4 miles of beach almost deserted, there was a bit more activity in Can Pastilla.
I would certainly go back again as we were in our hotel room 10 mins after collecting our luggage and the weather was excellent (25 degrees every day). Bus for Palma just out back of hotel, cost 30 euros to keep room all day of check out as we had a late flight.
Well done all staff at the El Cid, from reception, restaurant and cleaners. You get really good service and attention here for a very reasonable price and my wife and I would have no hesitation in returning or recommending this hotel to anyone.

Room tip: Room 201, 2 balconies with sun from sunrise to sunset, I am sure 301,401,501,601 are similiar

If this was a superior room then wouldn't want a standard as quite pokey no mini bar , had to pay for key to in room safe , over 85 tv channels only two in English and not much on them, over run with Germans , could do with some better sun loungers round the boring swimming pool that has a sea view the other pool has a much nicer pool and better loungers, food at breakfast disappointing, had to get your own fruit juice and coffee, bacon so thin you could blow a pea though scrambled egg like rubber , no grilled toms ,manly elderly couples then to top it all got bus into Palma and had purse pickpocketed , was a nice little English bar/ pub just past the kfc called the Manchester pub with music and live footy would not return again even in high season

Dear Lorraine B,

I am sorry if you did not enjoy your stay in our hotel.

About the minibar I want to say that it is true that it is empty, but if the guest want to have it full, they can ask it at the bar and we can fill it for you. If you do not say anything, we can not know that you want it full.

it is true that you have to pay for the key in room safe. All the hotels charge the guest for some services, but the hotel does not charge you if you want to use the sauna, if you want to play tennis, if you want to use our car parking, or if you want to use the wifi, beause all these services are for free. I do not think it is a problem to charge for the safe key, when we offer all the services I mentioned for free.

It is true that he hotel is full of Germans, because this part of the island is a German part, like if you want to go to Magaluf, most of the guests are English.

I am sorry if you found our pool boring, but I want to say that during this time the weather has been rainy and that is why there were not many guests swimming.

About the food for breakfast, I want to let you know that everything is fresh, and there is a huge variety.

I want to apologize if you did not like our elderly couples, but these elderly couples you referr to, are our guests who have been coming for the last 20 years.

If you were robbed you could have also told us and we would have helped you, although we do not have anything to do if you get pickpocketed in the bus.

Thanks very much,

Kind regards,
