4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2014

We stayed on half board and found the meals better than average with plenty of choice.
The staff allways pleasant and attentive.

The Saturday night entertainment was on a karaoke level painfully bad

Overall a good deal and pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Nice view from the third floor up.

We stayed at the Riu Concordia for a New Year break and to be honest, the only faults to be found were extremely minor - the matresses are far too hard, dinner could have been served later and an English-speaking TV channel would have been appreciated, but as the clientele are mainly German it may not be a likely provision. Situated only a few minutes drive from the airport and easy to find with plenty of on-road parking, you are made welcome from the moment you arrive with a glass of chilled Cava.
Rooms are comfotrable but not luxurious, all with baths (not just showers) and balconies. the food choice - again, German influenced - is nonetheless very good but with a leaning towards pork as a dinner course. All meals are buffet-style self-service and there is no stinting on quantity.
New Year's Eve was as near to a faultless provision as can be, the dinner excellent, wine served at the table rather than help yourself and grapes and party bags provided for the New Year's celebrations.
The only real drawbacks are the majority of the clientelle - incredibly rude and obnoxious Germans - and the location, which is pretty run down and Touristy with an almost total German leaning. The good news is that central Pal;ma is only a 1,50 Euro bus ride away on a no 15, albeit a nearly an hour's ride - but a taxi is 23 Euros or so, so it's worth the journey time if you fancy a break from the hotel and the occupants playing bingo and hogging the bar.
Air conditioning and a ceiling fan for when the weather calls for it, food and drink available for 16 hours a day, evening entertainment, indoor pool and excellent, helpful staff - a lick of paint and a change of furnishings (some of it's looking a bit tired) and it would be difficult to fault at all.

Booked this hotel direct with Riu.com for the 12th - 16th July All inclusive food and drink.

Had planned to stay at the Hotel El Cid on bed and breakfast but this came up as only slightly more expensive for All inclusive and went with it.

Arrived and was met by a very friendly male receptionist who brought me a glass of champagne which was a good start, check in was quick and easy, he informed me that i was allocated a double room for single use but it was on the small side size wise and if i wished to move to a different room i could do so the next day. Room 509 was fine for me although the shower cubicle was absolutely tiny and built into the wall, however, it did the job. The bed was very hard so i put a couple of blankets on top of the bed and slept on that which made it much better.

Food and drink were all fairly good and most people would find something to eat that they liked but some will always complain.

Staff were all friendly and did their job well, no complaints from me and Riu can be proud of how friendly and helpful they all were.

Would return if the opportunity arose.

Lovely hotel, very friendly staff, good food, cleanliness superb. 95% German guests, most of whom were rude, noisy and unfriendly. Remaining 5% were Spanish, Portugese and French. The main issue we had with the majority was groups of 30-40 year old males, clapping and singing drinking songs in and around the pool, making it unusable for quieter people and families. This was not just a one-off as group after group took up this behaviour and judging from nearby hotels, this appeared commonplace! Watching noisy, pool wrestling competitions became tedious to say the least.

  • Liked — Hotel and staff were faultless
  • Disliked — Over-run by noisy, rude guests

I stayed this hotel with a friend over Thanksgiving. It is the European 3* standard - nice but by no means luxurious or amazing.

It seemed that the entire population of the hotel was senior citizens! We felt like we were staying at a nursing home. The nightly entertainment was geared toward this population as well: Bingo, a bird show, etc. It wasn't BAD - just different.

The hotel food was pretty good - no complaints there.

One suggestion: if you are serious about going to Mallorca and seeing the sites - do not stay in this town (Playa de Palma). The town itself is horribly run down and very touristy. There were TONS of black market sellers bothering us all the time to buy their wares and it didn't feel quite safe there. Try to stay IN town (Palma) or at another area on the island. I wouldn't go back to Playa de Palma.

  • Liked — Very close to the beach, great food, friendly staff.
  • Disliked — Didn't like the town it was in...
  • Tips/Secrets — Don't stay in this town (Playa de Palma)
