When searching for a family holiday we wanted somewhere that was close to airport as flights were at night and somwhere that catered for all the family members who were going (husband and me, two teenage boys aged 19 and 16 and a 10 year old). This appeared to do so.
Bad Points
Upon arrival in the early hours of the morning there appeared to be some confusion regarding our booking but were eventually given a map of the complex and told where our dining room was and directed to our rooms which were down the street and the outside was less than impressive. The room my husband, myself and our youngest son was very small made worse as an extra bed had been put in for our son. When booking we were told we would have adjoining rooms with our other sons and a double balcony. This was not the case as there was a room between us. Our 2 teenage boys room was far bigger than ours with a bigger balcony which would have made more sense to be given to us. By far the worse thing about the holiday was the comfort of the beds. Rock hard does not begin to describe them!!!
As described in other reviews the noise is an issue at night. We were prepared for this and didnt actually want a deathly quiet hotel as we have teenagers who we were sure would equally contribute to the noise!! But if you expect to sleep DON'T!! From reading reviews before going we were also aware of the high proportion of german guests however we didnt realise that we wouldnt here an english speaking person for a week. As we were away from the main complex it would also have been good to have access to tea and coffee but there is no kettle etc in rooms.
The silly small plastic cups from the bar which are limited to 2 at a time meant that constant trips to the bar by all memebers of the party is a neccessity and at the impending 11 pm cut off for all inclusive when they start to charge for drinks draws close means there are long queues for the bar.
Good Points
Apart from being some way from our rooms the actual hotel complex is very pleasant. The pools are cleaned regularly which we witnessed ourselves and we even managed to get sunbeds on some days even though we had poor weather (thunder, lightning and rain) during half of the week. The two major plus points is the food. We found it varied and plentiful. Considering they are catering for large amounts of people it was replaced as soon as anything ran out and we have a very fussy 10 year old who actually did not starve. There was lots of choice and all cooked perfectly. It would have been nice to be told on check in about the oriental restaurant and the bbq which would have made a pleasant change but did not find out about it until the day we left from another guest. The entertainment team are excellent and appear to be very committed to trying to ensure everyone has a good time which they do with enthusiasm. We would have liked to sample the adult entertainment in the other bar but werent told about that either until it was too late as the kiddies disco and the giant shark become a tad tedious after a while. Never the less the entertainment team deserve a pat on the back.
The staff were helpful and friendly if we wanted to know anything but only if you asked as we werent given a lot of information on arrival.
The beach and town are a short walk away and if you overlook the annoying watch and sunglass sellers on every corner and the rubbish on the beach is ok. There are plenty of clubs and bars to keep teenagers entertained although if you want to find any english food think again.

We have just returned as a family from 7 nights here and i think the phrase "you get what you pay for" is very apt for this hotel. Our kids are 17, 15 and 3 so quite varied and obviously the older 2 are independent so kids clubs etc don't apply. When we arrived we were told we were staying in the Nubia block outside of the main hotel grounds about a 2 or 3 minute walk away, we were a little apprehensive having read such bad reviews about that block, but we had no choice. When we arrived in the rooms they were actually alright, fairly clean but very basic but they did the job. One of the other things we were concerned about was being kept awake all night with drunken German kids coming it at all hours, but to be honest this wasn't really an issue other than the odd door banging and raised voice at around 3am but never lasted for more than 2 mins or so cant complain at that. During the day there are 4 pools to chose from all of which i saw being clean regularly and were supervised by lifeguards who didn't stand any messing and were very whistle happy! My daughter did attend mini-club with me also as kids under 4 must have a parent with them, and I have to say it was a bit of a shambles, the 2 girls running the club really didn't have any control over the kids and certainly didn't keep them engaged, so we colored in for an hour and then went to the park, hardly a well thought out morning! The hotel itself is in a fairly run down area but it isn't dangerous or intimidating just needs some TLC, but its only 10 minute walk to the beach and the usual shops selling thier pointless tat and the restaurants and bars, all of which are geared to Germans, literally every restaurant sells hotdogs and German beer. On the subject of Germans as other people have said the hotel is full of them, must be a 70/30 split between Germans and Brits and as usual they are rude, obnoxious and generally German, the eveining entertainment is pretty poor kids disco lasts 30mins and then the entertainment moves inside....if you remain sat outside then you are surrounded by chain smoking Germans who just get absolutely wasted! The food is also very hit and miss, you wont go hungry but it certainly isnt great, cheap cuts of pork every night, and cheap fish, hake, cod etc....all in all it was ok for a cheap last minute deal but certainly wouldn't return.

Room Tip: Pay more and go somewhere else

I have nothing but praise for this complex. What a great place to take your family.
We have just returned from a 9 night stay with our 12 & 9 year old children. there was plenty to do. The choice of food was great, BBQ, pizza n snack bars open all day, buffet restaurant for breakfast & dinner - lots of choice.

The staff were friendly & accommodating to our every need, the animation team were friendly, approachable & all worked hard to ensure all nationalities & ages had a great time.

When I first booked this holiday the reviews were bait worrying to read & I did warn my husband & children that I may regret it - I couldn't be more wrong. I don't know what these people were expecting but i can honestly say ignore them because for a 3* this was faultless.

Patrick was exceptionally nice & his staff in the Oriental restaurant were great at there jobs & laid on a very nice selection of foods.

My family & I look forward to visiting you all again soon.

Room Tip: Rooms by the tennis courts are more accessible to the pools & entertainment

me and my mum decided on a last minute holiday and chose plamer bay. We booked then read the reviews, they were terrible, it ruined the build up to the holiday and instead of being excited i was beginning to dread it! well the bad reviews are rubbish. we had a fab room in the Gobi just outside the main resort (admittedly a little small but how long you intending on spending in the room when your at an all inclusive?) the room was very clean and modern and just over the road from the main complex. Our shower broke, we reported it, within an hour it was fixed! cant complain about that! Some reviews said they had a 10 min walk to get to the main hotel, the only way it would take 10 min was if you crawled!! it was fine.

The complex is huge with 6 lovely pools! every morning the whole area was cleaned and washed down.

We ate breakfast, lunch and tea in the restaurant then had a snack bar, BBQ and a pizza place to eat through the day if peckish. The food was fab (we started walking up the stairs to our room as i ate so much) the staff were lovely and friendly (very hard working) someone wrote that food was cold, i didnt find this but the hotel have put a microwave in the restaurant if you wish to heat up your food.

entertainment was ok, there were 2 bars open every night. Kids club was good.

The beach was a short walk down the road. Lovely beach with lovely clean water. If you fancied getting out of the complex for a bit there are plenty of bars along the beach. We popped down for some cocktails!

Yes the complex is populated by mostly German and dutch but they were lovely and most spoke English.

We had a fab holiday, its a 3 star complex not a 5 star like some people who have written reviews expected! i think some of the bad reviews should be taken off!!

Room Tip: we stayed in one of the hotels located just across the road, request a room in the hotel if you can...

This was meant to be a romantic return to Majorca for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Instead i cried for most of it, and after the third day begged to go home.
It turned into the holiday from hell, and i will NEVER go back to Majorca again. The room was small, dirty and overlooked the bin yard, the bathroom had broken and missing ceiling tiles and rusty taps and bath.It cost €70 as an 'upgrade' from the even worse Nubia block. The bar in our building was only open from 8-midnight, however by 10pm most of the younger guests where smashed out their minds. we put up with gangs of german and Sparish teens having a running battle over the weekend, with Police called and bungelow windows smashed. The resturant was closed, in fact most of the advertised facilities where closed, cafe, spa room, massage facilities, souvenire shop, outdoor entertainment centre, all closed
The security was pathetic and the rest of the staff where totally unsympathetic and unhelpful. what you dont get told is that the 'compex', actually has about 6 satalight blocks, each worse than the next, and in our case we had to walk up and down a steep incline from one building to another to eat and sleep.
The area itself also left a lot to be desired, as it was plagued with 'looky men' on every corner. The site was up a shabby side street, a good 5 minute walk from the beach and it was very un-nerving being out after dark. Durring the day the Police patrolled the sea front as there were lots of con men with easy to set up card/slight of hand games. they where accompanied by pickpockets who robbed the watching crowds. all in all this was the most disappointing, and frightening trip i have ever been on!!!
we did complain on site, and on our return, but to no avail!!

We were a bit worried after reading the negative reviews on here, as to what we had booked - but i can honestly say me and my husband and our two children (8 & 9) all loved it and were sad to leave after just one week.

On arrival 17th aug (at approx 3am!) we were booked in the acapulco building - we did find the room rather small for the 4 of us - so in the morning we asked if anything larger was available, reception said yes, but we had to wait until the next morning - we were then moved to the copacabana building - which was much more spacious and updated ! We were so pleased :) so enjoyed the last 5 days very much.

All the pools were lovely and clean - the beach just a very short walk.

We only ate and drank at palma bay and had no complaints - i would recommend trying the oriental cuisine which is available on tues/thurs/sat nites - u have to book in reception for a time slot - its all included - but it makes a nice change - we did twice in our stay - and also if u take your kids and they would rather nip to the main restaurant (for chips) !! They can with no bother !

All the staff were friendly and helpful - and the animation team were lovely at keeping the small people entertained - ours didn't go to mini club - but did attend a few of the activities :)

I would definitely go again - no complaints here :)

Room Tip: Would recommend the copacabana building as compared to the room we were allocated in acapulco it was...

We went on a family holiday here in October. After reading reviews i was dreading it. I was surprised when we got there. Nice clean well adapted hotel. Perfect for what we needed. Great value for money. The only down fall was out with the hotel there wasnt anywhere nice to go for a evening meal. I would also advise to make sure you book for the main resort and not the out buildings.
