On arriving we were allocated a room in nubia with no balcony. I complained and was told we could have another room the following morning. The night spent in nubia was awful-like staying in a zoo with people screaming and crashing around. The following morning we were given a new room in gobi bay. It was fine. Basic, view over a derelict hotel but very clean and quite. It is only a base and somewhere to sleep and the bathroom was really nice. I can't believe how many people on here are rude about German guests. It is a predominantly German tourist area as Magaluf is predominantly English-so what? I think most people I encountered on holiday were pretty rude!
The food was fine. There was always a choice and chips every night for the neanderthals who can't try anything different when on their holidays. Breakfast was really good but the coffee is awful.
You get what you pay for really. You would not be able to have a holiday in this country for the price paid for 4 nights all inclusive so I was more than happy with my stay.
And most of the people moaning on here i suspect are the ones sat round the bar area drinking themselves into oblivion 2 plastic cups at a time.

I have just returned from the Palma Bay after a lovely week... Considering we paid £300 each for all inclusive during kids holiday, we didn't expect much.

Good Points-
The hotel is VERY clean, ridiculously clean, but basic... Couldn't believe that everywhere was spotless!! Including the pool area/ outside bar area.
The size of hotels, lots of areas to sit and enjoy the sun. Especially the outside bar
Al Arenal beach was really close, about a five minute walk. We found some particularly amazing restaurants and bars, especially Casablanca and tango.
Some nice people, the staff were very good and always apologising for the rude German guests
We were due to be in the annex but luckily we managed to be roomed in copacabana.

Things that could be improved-
Beds, were very hard..
Size of plastic cups, yes you are restricted to taking only two alcoholic drinks. I found that I just used my legs and got another two when I finished. Although the queues did start to get long at certain times of the day (especially at 10:50pm, when all inclusive finished)
Food, variety was limited especially during the evening meal
Lots of Germans..
From inside our room we could hear everything in the corridor, including kids running up and down the corridors

Overall I would return to this hotel, at times I did feel like I was on a Butlins holiday with lots of British being loud and loutish.. But we enjoyed ourselves, yes the rooms are basic, yes the food could be improved.. But a holiday is what you make it!!

Room Tip: Be nice to reception staff, they sort you out if you are polite!!

We had our first visit to Palma Bay Majorca in October 2013. Having not reviewed the area very well beforehand, we didnt realise how much the place catered for Germans and how (generally) rude they all were!
The hotel was pretty clean, albeit basic. On arrival we were allocated a room in Nubia, when we got to our room (a short walk from the main hotel) we were horrified to see there was not even a window in the room! I went to complain at reception and after a little persuasion, was moved to the next floor up which had a balcony. The room was a lot better, but the view is terrible. Overlooking tired looking buildings and a main road.
We were not told about which restaurant we were allowed to eat in so we just went to the main hotel, which was large and busy - if you didn't get there as the doors opened, you could often expect to queue for a table. On our 2nd day, we were told we had to eat in the other restaurant, we tried it but hated it! There was no proper queuing system and people (again, in general) were very rude - pushing in,pushing you out the way etc. So, we complained about that too and managed to get our 'All inclusive' wristbands changed so we could go back to the lesser pleb area!
The hotel staff were very friendly and did there best to make sure people were happy. The bar staff were very friendly, often making a joke about the rudeness of the German guests.
There is an onsite store which is handy for water etc, however it didnt get stocked up in the whole week we were there, and being crisp lovers - this was a bit disappointment!
Food is available at the snack bar from 10.30 to 7pm, however its often sat in the 'partially warm' tray so a cold chip cob was often had.
The main hotel only had 2 ladies loos, one didn't lock and the other didn't flush. Neither was fixed during our weeks stay.
The last night was ruined by a group of new Liverpudlian arrivals, they drank all day then by 8pm one 'lady' decided to throw up over herself then sit there and continued to horrify other guests. We tried to complain to reception staff, bar staff and pretty much anyone who would listen, but no attempt to move her was made. Not a nice last night of our holiday and certainly not good entertainment.
Eating & drinking out was surprisingly expensive, one day we walked down to the beach and decided to stop off for a soft drink - 2 cans of coke cost us €4.10! Needless to say its worth eating at the hotel if you can find something warm enough that hasn't sat cooking for more than 4 hours.
We would not visit the area or hotel again sadly, however the beach is very well looked after, and if you don't mind everything being geared up for the German market - then give it a go for a cheap week away!

Room Tip: Complain if you arent happy - we did and it worked for us.

We where staying at the Caribbean bay and got moved here for one night. From a clean modern hotel with modern rooms with large plasma tv in every room to this dirty run down dump.

Dated ruff décor crumbling building with blankets on the floor to soak up the water that leaks through the the windows on the ground floor.

10 inch potable tv you that buzzes and you cant see from the bed
really glad was one night and hadn't paid the extra it cost to stay in this mess

Room Tip: dont expect much

We arrived at the palma bay on 16th oct 2013 after staying there the previous year, only to find it was over-booked. After being offered one of the 1 star annexe (gobi, sahara and nubia), we were given a "free upgrade" to the 3 star carribean bay. The "alternative" was nice enough, with a modern appearance, and very limited facilities, but the room was clean and tidy albeit a little small. The staff were very effecient and friendly, just a shame that the food at the carribean bay was dreadful, but by belonging to the mll group we were able to eat at the palma bay, which was a 10 min walk away.
We are looking to book for palma bay next year also,as we really enjoy the ambience of arenal, so who knows...... 3rd time lucky?

Booked for Palma Bay Hotel and upon arrival was told overbooked so been put into Caribbean Hotel 500 mtrs up the road, as my parents are elderly they provided a taxi to take us there and we were able to use all the Palma Bay facilities. This is my 4th visit to Palma Bay hotel and prefer to stay in main complex food and facilities are much better. The 500 mtr or so walk was fine for younger people, but elderely people not so good, Also area Caribbean Hotel is in is not so nice. The mix of people in all the hotels is lovely all nationalities, French, Russian, Dutch etc. and also a lot of Spanish, It is an ideal hotel for a cheap few days away. The staff at the Caribbean Bay were really good, the waiting, bar and reception staff all exceptionally good.

Room Tip: Try to stay in main Palma Bay complex

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights last week. I think I could have tolerated 5 nights but probably no more.
When we arrived we were told they had overbooked the hotel and were placing us down the road in a different hotel, not even on part of the complex, which are also pretty spread around.
The hotel was fine, friendly people on reception, room was cleaned every day. Bathroom was pretty basic. The air vent in the bathroom went through to our neighbour's room so could hear them pretty clearly...
The rooms had very thin walls and doors. We had asked for a double room but were given one with twin beds. When I asked to move, I was told there were no spare rooms to swap us to...
We were told to eat in the main complex that we had booked into, rather than the hotel which we were now staying in. The food was fine, lots of stodgy options, but not bad. Breakfast was the best meal of the day with fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, hot bacon/eggs etc. and lots of tea/coffee/fruit juice.
For the £200 each that we paid for flights, 3 nights all inclusive and transfers it was great, but I wouldn't have wanted to pay more.
