“Very close to the beach but not to the city center”
Reviewed 13 February 2012

Good position to the beach and the seafront but not so close to the city center.
The hotel is well connected with other seaside of the island. The best positions for the "movida" are Magalluf and Palmanova and this hotel in located in the opposite side, but in the mid between Palma city and the wonderful bay of Es Trenc, Ses Covetes.
Swimming pool, staff available to help you. Rooms cleaned but basic. Hotel noisy considering the closeness with the airport.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 week over the New Year period. We didn't really expect too much from this hotel as it was very cheap....a clean, comfy bed and a shower/loo.....as we didn't intend spending our time in the hotel whatever the weather turned out to be.
The hotel was very basic and our room was ok..........enough hanging space, comfy beds, balcony.........but although it was cleaned on a daily basis (apart from NY day which is fair enough) it was clean at a first glance but during our stay I noticed blood marks on a couple of walls, build up of fluff and grit on floor corners so a bit of a heavier clean was in order. Our room was on the first floor and and we got a lot of noise coming from the bar area below us so I dread to think how loud it is in the summer months!
We didn't choose to eat in the hotel but we did however, look forward to a cuppa in the morning (like most people) but the manager (and wife) of the hotel never appeared until approx 9.30am most mornings (more on this later). There were no other staff apart from a cleaning maid and as the manager, Vince, didn't live in guests had to wait until he arrived before getting a drink or breakfast. Maybe it was like this due to the time of year and is hopefully better run in the summer months, but the hotel was full and a better service should have been provided.
Our main complaint was that on New Years Eve the whole ground floor of the hotel was closed off after lunchtime to prepare for a party.....but not for the guests....for Vince's family and friends. No guests could use any of the facilities (which were few) should they want to. There was no notice of explanation available or notification as to when access was going to be available to guests again. We were pretty annoyed at this and I am sure other guests were too. Most of the other guests were German so we never really interacted with them due to the language barrier. On NYE we went out for a meal and although we had decided to go to bar (Flip Flop....recommended) to celebrate, as the evening wore on we got tired and decided on an early night so we returned to the hotel where the 'private party' was in full swing and fairly noisy as we could hear it from our room. At 1130pm and not being able to sleep due to the noise from downstairs we decided to gatecrash :)....we were welcomed in with open arms and invited to share all the celebrations with everyone. They were very friendly and we had a lovely time....so many thanks to Vince and his lovely wife and family/friends.
After a lovely evening of celebrations Spanish style it was back to a closed off hotel the next day. It was shut to all guests again and no staff, apart from a cleaner who was there for a couple of hours clearing up after the party, all day!
Apart from the hotel the rest of our stay was first class. The weather was unusually warm ( 68-70deg)and brilliant blue skies everyday. At a guess I would say that about half of the towns bars and shops were closed for the season but many were still open for business as usual. Our favourite bar was The Mediterrani Cafe on the sea front. Friendly staff who spoke very good English and the food was delicious......my Spaghetti Carbonara was the BEST I have ever tasted and I would return there anyday for another bowl of it!! There were plenty of bars/cafes round the corner from the hotel which were open everyday all day and great food was found in most of them. We would also recommend the Flip Flop bar in Can Pastilla where the service and hospitality are very good.
All in all we had a great much needed holiday after the stress of Christmas and dull British weather and the resort was charming and not crowded but we wouldn't holiday there in the summer months as it would be too busy for us.
Hotel Raxa???? Lovely owners/managers but disappointing apart from the NY celebrations....and a word of advice to Vince.....if you are not going to open until 9.30am whatever time of year then please supply tea/coffee facilities in the rooms as an alternative and to stop people like us moaning!!
