“Rilano Resort Hotel”
Reviewed 24 February 2013

Wonderful Resort Hotel. We wanted to ski and relax. The hotel is just down the road from one of our favorite skiing locations, the Steinplatte. The hotel had a wonderful, friendly staff. The resort had numerous steam baths and saunas, all working perfectly with wonderful support staff. There was an indoor and and an outdoor pool (that I did not use but my wife did) and it was very nice. The gym was better than most at these type of hotels but again, not that good but adequate i thought. The breakfast was very well done but the coffee was simply way too strong lol. We did not eat there at night but went into St Johann for some wonderful food. I highly recommend this hotel.

Dear Joe R,

thank you for your positive feedback. Nice to read that you had such a great stay at the Rilano Resort Steinplatte.

Most of our guests are impressed by our very nice SPA - you too and that is fantastic.

Regarding our breakfast coffee - most Germans like strong breakfast coffee. Our Service Staff also offers some "light" coffee if they are asked for - we are also please to serve a Latte Macchiatto etc. for breakfast.

For dinner we offer a 5-course-menu. Our guests are very enthusiastic regarding our dinner - our kitchen is really outstanding. Next time you should test it :-)

We would be happy to welcoming you very soon at one of our Rilano Hotels & Resorts.

Best wishes,

Your Rilano Hotels & Resorts Team!

The hotel is very nice, with large open areas. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly an helpful. The saunas and pools are brilliant after a day of skiing. The rooms were of decent size, all with patios, however it lacks coffee facilities. The hotel has lockers at the ski lift, which is a real convenience. Highly recommended.

Perhaps in hindsight a real log fire is more welcoming than a flat screen one - I should have predicted this before I came from the appearance of the place! To me this is a family hotel that looks like a business hotel - plenty of kids running round and they were clearly very welcome. It is modern, clean and a bit clinical, it lacks some atmosphere, though the staff were friendly it has an impersonal, though perfectly luxurious, feel. There are not many people about the foyer area and the spa did not seem busy even though the hotel was full.

The hotel has an small indoor and lovely outdoor pool, the indoor pool is pleasant but as they allow the kids to have those long tubes they were all smacking them at each other and having a fine old noisy splashy time doing it. But now our kids are older I've meanly moved into the bracket of adults who think 'how annoying' instead of isn't it grand the kids are having a great time? The outdoor pool was not warm enough for me, I like to sink into water that feel likes a warm bath rather than the temperature of municipal water in the UK, so a quick dip only for me, when it is minus temperatures in the air I like to be roasted not chilled.

The restaurant food is very good, not much choice but all the food is delicious and all 5 courses eaten up by our can be picky teens (with so many courses the service can be a bit slow, our kids would have been asleep a few years ago). Even mango curry and banana soup with shrimp went down a treat - and anything you could desire for breakfast. I would really like to see an after ski snack offered complimentary at this price. We stayed elsewhere in Austria and this was so convenient after 5/6 hours on the mountain to have a slice of cake or pretzel or some pasta with sauce with a cup of tea at 4pm. It also provides a nice reason to be in the foyer rather than everyone in their rooms/spa.

Rooms perfect and clean, nice bathrooms, separate loo, lovely beds and linen, wifi in the rooms would be good... though not so important for me. Everyone has a nice balcony and views.

Its a little walk from the slopes, 10mins to gondola, a bus was mentioned but I never saw it. When we arrived the hotel directed us to the ski shop in the village for ski hire, but since this nearby one was closed for lunch (we assumed the only one) we gave up the idea of an afternoon ski and also went for lunch. But later walking to the gondola to get our tickets for the next day we realised there was a second shop there where the ski hire is, much better to hire from here as it is right by the gondola. If we had been better informed we would have had an extra half day ski out of our stay, so we sorted out skis ready for the morning.

Perhaps a handout at the hotel would explain this, it is is so expensive to be there we felt a bit disappointed, esp as the weather got worse and we missed one day skiing later on. It is not the fault of the hotel but perhaps they forget how helpful it is to have local knowledge.

Getting to the gondola is fine, an easy walk and there are lockers right on top of the lift you can rent from the hotel. The gondola here lifts you into the next valley, the Steinplatte. Here you find half a dozen red and blue runs, lots of fast chair lifts taking 6 and 8 people. Because the snow was not brilliant elsewhere there were a lot of people on 'our' mountain but the system coped pretty well with a max of 10 minutes wait at the busiest times, often shorter and the less popular and red runs had no queues at all. Getting down to the village at 4pm was a bit of a squash and wait. Enough skiing for beginners for a week or intermediate for 3 days. Others may not find enough variation though runs are wide, views are great and I thought it a lovely small resort.

In summary i enjoyed the skiing greatly, thought the hotel overall was very good, staff very professional, lots of English spoken and the resort is very nice, excellent for a short break.

Room Tip: all have good views

Dear cocofamilyEssex,

thank you for your positive feedback. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Rilano Resort Steinplatte that much.

The Rilano Resort Steinplatte is a very new hotel - at the moment we are working on a concept regarding our decoration in the hotel.

The hotel is a mixture of business and leisure hotel. During the holidays we accomodate a lot of families. The kids are always happy staying at our pool - if there a lot of kids it´s always getting a bit loud in this area.

We are very sorry that you did not receive any detailed information regarding the skiing shop. We will discuss this topic with our team.

We will be very happy to welcoming you very soon at one of our Rilano Hotels & Resorts in the near future.

Best wishes,

The hotel is brand new, the stuff is very friendly and helpful.
The sauna installation is also very nice, and the views from the swimmingpool are spectacular.
Nevertheless, there are some little improvements that they could make, like not sitting together all the 10 guests that they have in the low season in the restaurant. While the rest of the hall was empty, we shared every morning our breakfast with another couple sitting at 1 m. They could have placed us a couple of seats further apart for the sake of intimacy.
We were a bit dissappointed when a drill working woke us up at 8 a.m. on saturday. It's not a very good idea in a relaxing spa hotel. But we called reception and in 10 minutes they stopped, although it was too late. And this was our bad luck, that does not have to occur to any other visitor.
In our case, although we reserved a junior suite, they installed us in a confort room. Until we ask next day what was the difference, as we thought that our room will be bigger, they did not say that there was a mistake from them. Then we moved to the junior suite (without help), but no refund or compensation was offered. Not even a drink in the bar. We asked for it at the end and then we got some little money.
And I would take one point away because the sauna timetable is not that convenient: from 11 to 19 means that you have to choose between sauna or any visit to Innsbruck/Salzburg.
Despite of those little things, the location is really beautiful, the breakfast is very complete and good, everything is new ans in perfect conditions and we enjoyed a lot our stay. I would reccomend it with no doubts, and I'm sure they will improve those little details.

Dear parracule,

thank you for your feedback. You are right, the hotel is very new and very well maintained.

We are sorry that you did not like to sit next to other guests in the restaurant. If our guests would like to sit more seperate it is of course no problem to realize this wish in the lower season. Unfortunately we did not know that you prefer sitting alone.

Regarding the room: it is very hard to reconstruct the case with your hotel room. We are very sorry that you received the wrong room. We are also sorry for all other inconveniences we may have caused.

We are also thinking of a "Late evening SPA" on a few days during the week.

Thank you for all the details - we will of course improve our procedures.

However we are happy to hear that you liked our breakfast buffet, the hotel and the location.

We are looking forward to welcoming you very soon in one of our Rilano Hotels & Resorts.

Best wishes,
Your Rilano Hotels & Resorts Team!

Modern hotel located in a cute friendly little village Waidring. The reception entrance gives you a nice warm feeling. A friendly welcome at the reception. The rooms are big and comfortable. Bathroom and WC are separate! Not so good is the shower glass-protection it is not long enough, the whole bathroom floor gets wet. In the hotel rooms there are no WiFi internet and Airco. That's why I give a overall 4-star rating.
Food: a very good selection of food at breakfast. Lunch or dinner 3- or 5 Menu dishes are well chosen. Light meals. A separate Salad bar with lots of delicious things to chose. The desserts are well prepared and presented. Everything is possible if you want french fries with your meal instead of rice. Just ask and you get it. Even at late arrival you can ask for Schnitzel and pommes. You get it!
Wellness: I say wow very nice, there is a gym.Sauna, swimmingpool, a quiet room. Massages a lot of packages to chose from at a moderate price
Hotel prices are very moderate, rooms are quiet you don't hear the people next to you.
Meeting room and services are perfect. For birthdays you can order very nice Sachertorte, is too recommend. The personal at the restaurant are very nice and friendly.
Yes I would recommmend this hotel for leisure and business. The skiing and schlittenfahrt and langlauf are almost in front of the door.
