We (two couples) were in Whitchurch for a wedding and decided to camp at Mile Bank Farm for the weekend. We were greeted by the wonderful hosts Gill and John and given our pick of the camping spots, which were all great. The toilet & shower block were big, bright, airy and clean - with plenty of mirrors and sinks for the girls to get ready for the wedding! The hosts couldn't help enough, even offering to lend me a belt for my trousers as I'd forgotten my own!

Also, make sure you camp next to Andy & Sue - they do great tea/coffee and toast in the morning!

Fantastic camp site in a lovely setting and great hosts - we'll definitely be back!

Camping - Tent - Arrived Tuesday and booked for 4 nights. Welcomed by Gill and John on arrival. Given a choice of pitches and free to choose. Freshly mown fields and grass collected and fed to the animals (no grass in our tent then). Shown around site by John and toilets / shower facilities shown to us. Outside washing facilities (though we didn't need). Shower / toilet block are 2 portaloos. Gents with 4 shower cubicles, changing / drying area still behind doors. Heater, extractor fan and 2 sinks with mirrors and papertowels for drying. Both were cleaned around 0530 / 0600 hrs each morning and am sure were attended to during the day as always spotless and fresh. The foundations ha.vve been laid for the new toilet / shoer block. The views from our pitch were superb. We had EHU and were only 30' away from the nearest supply of drinking water. The animals kept us entertained, including sheep, goats, cows, a donkey, the most beautiful bull, couple of ponies, pigs the list goes on.. Breakfasts / home cooking were also offered to all (again we didn't try as we were more than stocked). Nicely located for exploring. We took in the canals, Nantwich, Shrewsbury and Chester Zoo. Would highly recommend and will be returning in the coming months

We booked a couple of ights on the campsite, if you can call it that. They charged £20 per night for us to stay in a field full of what looked like pig poo. The facilities were awful, a portacabin for toilets. The field is quite exposed, and our caravan nearly blew over, so we turned it to face the wind. This upset the owners who fixed a notice on the outside of the caravan telling us to turn it round. Not a pleasent break.

This is a simply wonderful place to stay in a corner of England which is a well hidden secret. Situated on the Shropshire/Cheshire border outside the small town of Whitchurch, Gill and John Lewis go out of their way to make your stay a complete restful break. More and more farms in the United Kingdom are diversifying by converting outbuildings which were once the home of sheep and cattle into accommodation which is often - as in the case of Mile Bank Farm - luxurious at rock bottom prices. But there is much more than this at Mile Bank. Each en suite room is decorated and furnished to very high standards with some much appreciated little touches in addition to the usual tea/coffee making facilities such as sweets, bottles of water, sewing kits, the list is endless. (Did I mention the melt in the mouth chocolate cake I was offered on arrival?) However, the piece de resistance has to be Gill's breakfasts which you order the night before via an individual sheet of tick boxes. I made the fatal error (in terms of waistline) of ticking the lot and was rewarded by a heaving plateful of the most wonderful farmhouse breakfast I have ever tasted with everything locally sourced and freshly cooked to order. On our first of two nights Gill kindly booked us in at The Swan at nearby Marbury which was so good we booked in again the following evening. (A review will follow!) In summary, this has to be one of the best farmhouse B&Bs in the country - you will not be disappointed.
