we rented an apartment on phase one, the location was good for us, near buses shops and restaurants. The apartment was clean and quiet and well equiped. The complex was under refurbishment so the pools were not in use, this did not bother us however it lacked a pool bar and an atmoshere with nobody out sunbathing. We have booked elsewhere next year in tenerife as this apartment is booked up for three months a year in advance.

Room Tip: try to book an apartment with residential neighbours as they look after the walkways.

I had read some dreadful reviews about this place before we went and had very low expectations, which thankfully were not fulfilled. Yes, the place needs a little maintenance but it is a big complex and there will always be areas of it that does...bit like the fourth bridge !!! The narrow part of the swimming pool in Phase 1 was undergoing renovation whilst we were there and it will look lovely when its done, but they do work at "Spanish " rate so may be a while. As for the cats that people complained about....we saw the same 6 cats all the time we were there, but not once did we see a cockroach (something that other prople where complaning about at their complex's). The cats did not disturb us and they are not strays either. This is a residential complex and the cats are someones pets. Another bonus was just how very quiet it was. At night you could hear a pin drop, so no roudy drunk holiday makers. The location is fantastic, especially our apartment on Phase 1 which we hired privately. Sun all day and when the pool is up and running , the sound of water too...will be lovely !! Didn't see any of the other phases, so I would recommend that if you re going to stay here, stay in Phase 1. Don't take too much notice of whinging people...lets face it how much time do you actually spend in your apartment anyway !! We went for a whole month and will be going again in 2013.

just returned from mare verde this complex is dirty run down cats everywhere and yes it has five pools but one was empty childrens pool had all tiles missing from bottom and i never once saw any of the pools being cleaned in the three weeks we stayed we never went in the dirty pools instead we went to the beach every day this complex was probably fantastic twenty years ago but not now our appartment was very very good privately owned by a lovely couple and was very well equipped situated right near the terrible pool we could not use if we could take this appartment and put it in another complex it would have been perfect if you want a comlex that is close to all local amenities and beach and are not too fussy about surroundings then it ok im sure all of the locals live here in dirty run down appartments i am not usually too fussy about were i stay and have been on lots of holidays but i do think this place has had its day dont go

Room Tip: rooms not a problem it the actual complex

Stayed on the MareVerde complex with my partner and two young children. We were on Phase 3 which was overlooking the old Tennis courts and has a distance view to the beach. I rented from a private owner who uses this for a couple of months a year and rents it out for the rest. Hence there was every home comfort such as flat screen tv, washer, fridgefreezer, iron and comfy sofas. It had a balcony which was made secure by wrought iron railings so we could put the kids to bed and sit relaxing and watching the world go by whilst being able to hear any waking children. The front door had a locking wrought iron grill so you could open doors and let the air through knowing you and more to the point the kids are safe. It appears this complex was once an impressive holiday complex but now mainly private owners as holiday companies constantly move on to the latest builds with a scattering of small holiday company bought apartments but thankfully no reps or organised entertainment. This was made clear to us by the owner and was spot on. Phase 1 backs onto the main road and seems to be smaller apartments and probably rented out by locals working in the resort and has shops and a couple of downmarket bars on the main street so I wouldn't consider this side of the complex. The main pool was under re- furb but we found a spot near the waterslide with a 2 ft deep pool where the kids acclimatised before we lifted them into the 1.5 mtr pool with us. There was a heated pool which had been refurbished but we preferred the spot we found. The complex seems to be under a total makeover project that had started at phase 3 now into phase 2. As long as you realise what you are renting is accommodation with good pool facilities near to nightlife ,shopping and the worth a visit market and this not a hotel with reps and cheesy entertainment you can't go wrong. Will be back in 2013.

Room Tip: Book a private rental with a website. Definitely Phase 3 ,possibly Phase 2 , never phase1.

We had a brilliant stay on the mare Verde, it had everything we wanted.
It was walking distance from the beach , although we spent most of our time playing around the five connecting pools, there was a number of bars and restaurants close by.
I would recomend this complex for families and couples alike, it is so central for everything.
Don't expect the Hilton , but what you get is a cosy family friendly complex that is great value for money.
