I can't give this hotel a 5 rating as this hotel is just totally the opposite to what we are used to staying in, however we knew that it would be like this and for a winter getaway this hotel is just perfect. We are used to much more intimate and smaller boutique style hotels. But we really needed some sun after a very wet and damp weather back home in the UK. This hotel has everything that you need and more so if your looking to go somewhere to just chill and not really do a lot then this place is just right!! We were sold the half board option when booking the deal which we were not to bothered about as we were only there for 6 nights, however any longer and I would have found this a little tedious doing the same all the time a touch of "The Truman Show" springs to mind. I would suggest to do the HB for the first few nights depending on how long you stay then for half the holiday pay for the option to eat in the other restaurants!! There are many swimming pools with lots of sun loungers to we didn't really have to fight to get a lounger but again don't know what this would be like in a really busy period. Sports facilities were very good. A well equipped gym, classes everyday, aqua aerobics, tennis courts & the Spa which is a really lovely spa, but massages a very expensive my husband paid 195 Euros for an 1 hour & half massage. They always have some form of entertainment in the evening. The piano bar was nice to. Our first room was small with a balcony and way too much furniture in it, we did ask to be moved from this room as there was an overpowering smell of drains coming from the shower which was just dreadful, the 2nd room was much bigger but didn't have a balcony to be honest wasn't really bothered as we were out best part of the time. Overall great for what we wanted.

We spent a week here in February for our honeymoon. Beautiful hotel, polite staff and great location.

We stayed on a half board basis, breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice and great waiter service.

Evening meals were buffet style with a different theme to the food each night, all of a high standard with lots of variety. The only downside was that because many of the dishes are on display under heaters some of the dishes were a bit lukewarm. Evening waiters work really hard, nothing is too much trouble, really impressive.

Lots of sun loungers, and fresh towels were handed out each morning by very attentive pool staff. Separate pools for children so if you fancy a more peaceful day aim for the bigger pool areas which tend to attract the adults more!.

The hotel faces a lovely beach, so you can be strolling by the sea in a matter of minutes.

There are a few up market restaurants and shops just a two minute walk away if you fancy venturing out of the hotel.

Would definitely recommend!

The Hotel Bahia del Duque is reputed to be one of the best hotels in the Canaries. The grounds are certainly spectacular and the staff very pleasant and supportive. The food in the main restaurant (buffet style) was good but not excellent although there were several other specialist restaurants on site that we didnt try. However, the main let down to this 5 star facility (with its 5 star prices) is the condition of the rooms. We took a standard room with sea view (allegedly) which was done out in colonial style what looked to be several years ago. The room was (just) big enough but was dull, poorly lit and clearly well in need of refurbishment. The bed was so hard it felt like we had slept on a pasting table all night. They have finally got Wifi into the rooms but that appeared to be the only concession to the 21st century. The desk mounted TV was no bigger than a small PC console and had no other English channels other than Sky news, CNN, BBC world & TMC with no DVD rental available. Obviously, most people dont spend their holidays stuck in front of the TV but we did experience a couple of nights of really lousy weather and better in room facilities would have been nice to have. This was our 2nd visit to this hotel, so obviously, despite its shortfalls, we still like it - but it could (and really should) be so much better! Next time in the Canaries we will try elsewhere.

Room Tip: If you want a really good room then you will have to go for a junior suite or go to another hotel.

This Resort has some fantastic facilities and is very beautiful with most rooms overlooking the sea. The weather was gorgeous for my whole stay which of course always helps. The Resort has six restaurants and a number of bars. I will write a separate review about the restaurants. I only went to the Piano Bar which was very good and there is entertainment and children are welcome. It also has a well equiped gym, tennis and squash courts and a studio where regular classes are held. I went to a Latin Dance Class and also Zumba which was really enjoyable with and excellent teacher. I also visited the Spa which was exceptional with delightful staff. It is my first holiday experience alone and I felt most welcome and looked after by well training and charming staff. In fact I think the quality of the staff really makes this Resort memorable.

Room Tip: It is worth paying extra for a good room.

Previous Disneyesque charm wore off at least 5 years ago. Tired and charmless standard dbl rooms with ok bathrooms. Poor value indeed over xmas (where isnt?).
Badly in need of a refurb...just totally the wrong price. No way acceptable as a 5 star GL.
Food is ok in some restaurants but go outside turn right along beach to El Mirador - v v good

Overall this is a great hotel; superb facilities, exceptionally clean; tremendously helpful staff; hundreds of sun loungers; very near a sandy beach and some upmarket shops. The inside of the hotel is beautiful with many bars and a range of restaurants in addition to the main restaurant with buffet style breakfasts and dinners. Food is of a good standard in the main restaurant.
However the hotel seems to attract a very high proportion of children and it can be very noisy around the pool areas dedicated for children. The hotel is also very large and it took us 2 days to find our bearings. There are a number of areas where one can escape the the childrens noise but one has to negogiate steep steps to reach these areas and the hotel is certainly not suitable for those with walking problems. On our visit the ratio between young couples with children and older clientele was about 60:40. It was half term when we visited so it maybe slightly less normally.Overall a beautiful hotel ideal for children etc. but somewhat rambling and a little difficult for those with walking problems; the hotel being perched on a hillside. Tremendously helpful and professional staff.Certainly 5 star.

Room Tip: Book a room away from the two pool areas dedicated to children

Spent 3 nights at Bahia Del Duque in February and was impressed with service and style of hotel.
However, only one pool is heated and was the smallest so quite crowded......I would expect a hotel of this price range to have two heated. That said, we swam in the cold pool but have returned home with man flu!!
Hotel is on different levels so not ideal for elderly and sun lounger space quite cramped unless one is at bottom of hotel grounds.
Bedrooms very nice although bathrooms small and I found beds painfully hard.
View from our room not great but was only on a 3 day break.
Breakfast very good as was evening buffet and staff very attentive and polite.
I am a Spa specialist and would rate this one very highly.
There is no English TV ( as in BBC1 or ITV ) which you get in the Anthelia Iberostar...this was a slight issue for my daughter but I guess not important to most people.
A good calibre of guests at this hotel as you would expect and although I have been a little critical, I thoroughly enjoyed the ambience and style of this hotel and would recommend it.
