“Perfect place to rest and relax”
Reviewed 16 March 2009

This is our 8th visit to this hotel, and we can honestly say all the times we have been coming the standards have not dropped at all.The owner must be complimented on the design and layout it is in our opinion superb. The hotel and grounds are always kept spotlessly clean,as is the pool area where there are ample sun-beds for ones use.The rooms are of a very high standard and are kept immaculately clean by the staff.Having said all this about the hotel we feel we must mention the management and the staff, which for us is just as important as the hotel itself, they are all so friendly and helpful, always smiling and nothing is ever too much trouble for them.

The Jardines de Nivaria is built around the garden and pool area which is undoubtedly its best feature, even if "The Garden of Eden" (trans.) is going a touch too far! The design of the two pools, one heated saltwater, the other an invigourating fresh water with a lovely waterfall, allows areas of relative privacy within its curved contours and a plentiful supply of sunbeds.

The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable, with pleasant communal areas lit by the spectacular stained glass in the atrium ceiling. Reception staff are efficient and helpful and rooms are a good size with large balconies with table, chairs and two sunloungers.
Undoubtedly a fine 5* when built in the early 1990's, there are some areas, however, which are now becoming a little dated. Two single beds on castors pushed together on tiled floors is not ideal and the shower over the bath could prove difficult for the older guest, who were in the vast majority at the time of our visit.

The choice for breakfast can not be faulted, with a wide range of cereal, juices, fruit, cold meats, breads, cakes and cheeses to complement the freshly cooked hot dishes which the chefs cook to order in front of you. Service is quick and efficient, if perhaps lacking in a little warmth.

We ate only two other meals in the complex, both at the poolside restaurant which enjoys a magnificent location, regrettably not matched by the quality of the food. It is adequate for a quick lunch but could be so much better with a little extra thought and effort. The main restaurant serves a buffet-style dinner with themed evenings but is not well-used and the a la carte is very expensive. It would be unreasonable to comment further as we made no use of either, preferring to use the many and varied, good quality restaurants within easy reach, either on foot or a short taxi ride away.

There is live entertainment every evening, both in the piano bar and in the small "night-club" with dancing to the resident band interspersed with a varity of artistes.

The wide promenade walkway allows a pleasant, leisurely half-hour stroll northwards towards the village of La Caleta, with plenty of opportunity for a coffee or a snack on the way or, if you must, south towards the "hurdy-gurdy land" of Las Americas and beyond where you will be accosted by African vendors of sunglasses and watches as well as reps, for timeshares, boat-trips or nearby touristy eating places.

The weather in Tenerife can usually be relied upon between March and October to be dry, warm and sunny and the Jardines de Nivaria is an excellent base from which to enjoy it. Probably, though a good 4* by today's standards, rather that a true 5*

we stayed here for one day only in january. The hotel is beautiful, the pool area is great and rooms are wonderful. i would recommend this hotel for people who like to go out and are looking for a very lively place. there are many restaurants outside the hotel and all the night clubs are nearby too. however, we were looknig for a much quiter holiday. having been in roca nivaria which is exactly what you need if you want to relax, we found jardines de nivaria to be a bit too loud. you could hear the traffic from the pool area, for example, whereas roca nivaria is so clam! furthremore, there were lots of friends groups who were up for having a drink and being quite loud, whereas roca nivaria is mainly families.
in the end, we asked to switch to roca nivaria and the staff were incredibly helpful and we were back to roca in 20 minutes, even after having paid for jardines (it's hte same family who owns it, so it was quite easy).
the hotel is lovely, but it depends what you are looking for!

Stayed in the hotel for 3 weeks from December 08 to January 09. Food (especially evening dining) is not what I've expected from 5star hotel, I would seriously recommend staying away from taking Breatfast/Evening option, there are better choices at cheaper price right next to the hotel (evening meal would cost you 43Eur in hotel and at most 20Eur right outside in an array of diners/restaurants on the coast). I would not recommend going there during Winter due to cold weather and lots of thunderstorms.

Exellence all around. Joyful breakfast. Drop every thought of half pension and enjoy all the good restaurants in the neigbourhood (or by the pool).

spent a week in this hotel in period 31dec-7 jan. personally found it much bellow expectation. those who ever stayed in good 5 stars hotel would be most likely disappointed by price paid...evrything is small there - room, bathroom, balcony, pool and in that respect you can hardly feel you are in 5 stars....
you will not find a teapot or warter in the room. if you miss to leave tips there is chance your room might be not cleaned in time... sport area / spa is a disaster...overall it's a rather old hotel and probadly 10 years ago used to be a sample of 5 stars hotel but not in our days...
no complain about reception/location/brekfast which obviosly meets the 5 stars...
