“Lovely clean hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

Travelled with my husband for an Easter break. Lovely clean hotel with good food and service. Ideal situation for shops and bars. Book trips from shop opposite not rep in hotel, it's half the price. The only minus point was that this hotel was advertised as Thompsons adults only which it wasn't.

First impressions count and the sweeping entrance upto the bright and airy reception area is wonderful. We also managed to upgrade our room on arrival, to a sea/ pool view.
The (6th floor; there's 3 lifts) room itself was very nice, exceptionally clean and spacious.
Obviously, you're looking for sun and sunbathing opportunities and this hotel offers 2 pools, an additional sunbathing area and easy access to nearby stretches of beaches, where sun beds can be rented by the day. The main pool did get busy and, it being the easter hols, there was a constant supply of kids bombing into the pool. There is another, infinity pool, however, for the grown ups. Unlike the main pool, it isn't heated, which leads to wry amusement when the kids decide to bomb into this one, only to quickly exit and return to the main pool :-).
There's plenty of (optional) entertainment during the day, around the main pool area: table tennis, darts, etc. The staff will invite you to participate, but will leave you be happily if you just want to sunbathe by the pool.
Where the activity staff do come into their own is in entertaining the kids and taking them off for various activities. We're not parents (yet...) but for families, we reckoned this place would be perfect.
The buffet restaurant ain't great - book the a-la carte if you can, before you go. But, be adventurous, venture out down to the sea front and there's plenty of eateries to choose from.
Overall, probably one of the cleanest hotels we've ever stayed. Good hotel for a family, pool/ seaside holiday in the sun. Couples are probably best going elsewhere, but that said, if you're a late booking, don't worry, there's plenty scope to escape the kids!

Room Tip: Grab a room overlooking the pool if you can. Effectively a sea view, as the balcony faces that way...

I really did not know what to expect after reading some of the negative comments written about this hotel. I needn't have worried!!! Our room was on the ninth floor, side view overlooking the pool and with sea view. Fantastic! Sun until late evening. Room minimalistic and not what we are used to as in the other Thomson Plantinum/Princess hotels, but nevertheless was adequate. Hairdryer not working in bathroom so glad I took my own! Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Excellent choice of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sandwiches, fruit, cakes available from lunch until dinner (if you were hungry!). We had the Mexican meal (which book a.s.a.p.) but must admit, preferred the choice in the buffet restaurant. Drinks were excellent and we never had to wait long. We are always up around 8.30.a.m. so never had a problem getting a sunbed. We loved the views from the top Infinity Pool which the other more "plush" hotels did not have! Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful at all times. If I had to criticise, they could do with getting more soft furnishings in the lounge and bar area as these became crowded when shows were on in the evenings. We even resorted to bringing in plastic chairs from outside to sit and have a drink, but were unable to see the show from the back! All in all, we had a fantastic holiday and would certainly recommend this hotel for position and excellent value for money. If we were to return to this area, we would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Lifts can be quite slow, so if you have no patience, ask for a lower floor!

When we read what other clients have written about this hotel we think we must have been staying somewhere totally different. All aspects of the hotel are what we expected food very good, drinks excellent and staff so helpful. As we work in the hotel industry the people that complain are not out for a good holiday they just enjoy being professional moaners. We would return to this destination again without hesitation.Don't believe all you read take it from us it is very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Go for a higher floor as the views are better.

Just returned from a great week at the Luabay Costa Adeje, there were twelve of us, ranging in age from 15 to 71, we had read the reviews over the previous few weeks, and went with open minds. Some of the reviews critiscised the hotel as not being 4 star, or not Thomson Platinum, I should remind you that the hotel is owned by The Luabay Group, not Thomsons, and it is evident that they have gone out of their way, at great expense to Transform this hotel from the original Esmerelda Hotel to what it is today.
Having said that, I would like to give you my experience of the Hotel, its facilities, staff, food, entertainment and location.
My wife and I were given a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool, and the view out to sea., we had two large beds, a bit on the firm side, with thin pillows (but we take our own) a nice flat screen TV, as people have said, a remote is extra, but it was easy to operate and change channels with a finger. The bathroom was a nice size with a great shower, some complaints referred to water all over the floor, well there is a solution to this problem, the shower tray is very shallow, and if you run the shower full on, the water will not run away quick enough,....unless, you can take the top cover off the drain and the water will run away faster. and not flood the floor.
The air con was very quiet, and worked very well,
The 3 lifts were all working, and we never waited more than a minute or two to get in one, they are busiest around 9 am when guests are going to breakfast.
I cannot understand why the food was critiscised, the dining room is very spacious and the food stations were always well stocked
Breakfast, offered, Eggs, Omellettes, Pancakes, Bacon (always overcooked) Sausages ,Ham, Cheeses, Chicken Nuggets!! chips, All kinds of Fruit, bread for toast, and a choice of cut your own loaves,
Lunch, was a selection of Soups, meats, fish, various pastas and sauces, pizzas, cold meats cheeses, salads, all kinds of dressings, a cross section of the choice we had included, Pork Steaks, pork loin, thin beef steaks, chicken, veal escollops, sword fish, dover sole, squid, and unknown white fish, always bread, The desserts were amazing, lots of little fancy cakes, flans, cheesecakes, various ice creams, and always a choice of fruits.
Dinner.... the evening selection of food was similar to the luchtime, but a different combination of meats and fish., there was also two specialist restaurant options available, a Mexican night and a Spanish Night, I can recommend both, if you like slightly spicy food, and it makes a change from the main dining room.
There was always tea, and coffee in many forms, and cold drink dispensers available in the bar, The pool bar as well as a full bar service had fridges with sandwhiches which were very good, they served ice cream, cakes and pastries, from about 11 a m till 4 ish.
The hotel is kept in excellent order, staff are constantly cleaning, all the furnishings in the lounge area are light grey leather with lovely big soft cushions, there is new glass panelling everywhere, the pool area has been completely rebuilt and was always cleaned every day
All the staff were very friendly and helpfull in all areas.
Take no notice of the reviews that say you cant get a sunbed in the morning, it was still dark at 7.30am and we overlooked the pool, by 8 a m there were half a dozen towels on beds, we used to go down around 9.a m and we always got 10 sunbeds, no problem.
The entertainment was a bit sketchy, and it would be better if they did the bingo in the afternoon, not in the evening, and concentrated on more adult orientated entertainment for the guests,
The hotel, have a Michael Jackson impressionist, who was good, the Beatles tribute group, were also good. The drinks flowed freely, some premium brands cost an extra couple of euros, but Baileys was free!, The Bar closed at midnight.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it caters very much for families with little children, the hotel animation team are great., Anyone got a question, dont hesitate to ask.

The location of the hotel is perfect, 5 minute walk opposite the hotel to bars shops and the beach. 15 minutes transfer from the airport.

Room Tip: Pool side rooms have the best view, but dont get sun until late in the day, but the room stays cool.

We booked this 2 days before arrival so didn't expect much. I'm surprised people moan as we found the hotel very clean, the staff all helpful and the food much better than expected. Despite being full the staff in the dining room were efficient and we never had to wait for a table. The staff were all friendly & courteous which is admirable given the size of the hotel.
My only concern was the lack of security on the door/ reception and I had my handbag " dipped" in the lift before I had even got to my room after check in. All my credit cards were stolen. The manager was adamant that I'd lost them outside, particularly as they were found there later. However I was 100% sure because i'd taken them out on check- in and not ventured out since. A handbag was stolen from another guest later in the week.
Instead of paying someone to try and get us to do aerobics/ stretching each day ( which no-one ever did!) they should have a security guard at the door at the very least.
All in all a lovely hotel, clean rooms, good food, lovely staff and plenty of sunbeds - I would definitely go back but just watch my belongings in the bar/pool/ reception areas!
