“Weeks Stay at Hotel Luabay 15th - 22nd”
Reviewed 25 June 2012

Myself & my girlfriend (19 & 20 years of age) both stayed here from the 15th - 22nd of June & thoroughly enjoyed are stay. Prior to going i had a look at alot of reviews on TripAdvisor & can tell you now that alot of the negatives are people expecting too much for what they pay.

The hotel is immaculate, rooms cleaned daily including fresh beds, towels & bottle of water.
Pool area is cleaned every morning as is the hotel its self.

The food is a fend fo yourself/buffet type & although nearer the end of the week we found the food a bit repetitive it is all of very good standard, there is various meats, fish, freshly baked pizza, paella & various other foods. Deserts are limited but what is there is of decent quality. There is a separate dining area which you can visit twice a week which hold a spanish tapas night & a mexican night - these i highly recommend, the service was great & food was amazing.

The rooms themselfs are limited in storage but there is enough room for all clothes.
We did have to pay 20euros deposit for the safe & 15 euros each for towels (towels you can swap for fresh ones 3 times a week). There is a tv which you can work manually using the buttons (no need for a remote). There is a fridge is the room which is free & very handy. Prior to leaving for our holiday we requested a room on the 4th floor with seaviews which we got.

The entertainment is okay but nothing to rave about, drinks in the bar are very good with a wide selection of cocktails, spirirts & Amstel Beer on tap. Yes at night there is a slight queue for the bar but i never had to wait more than 3 - 4 mins (not the end of the world). I did not have a problem at all with the pool bar, did not have a problem with any queues.

The only complaints i do have is as mentioned below we did have room trouble & had to check out by 12 noon & were roomless till we left (9:00pm), we did book the complimentary room for half an hour which isnt enough time but we managed. You do get to keep your all inclusive wristbands so meals/drinks were still available. Also PLEASE do not make the same mistake we done & book any excursions with the hotel reps, its way more expensive that the local agents along the beach front or at the other shops located around Costa adeje, the reps will lie about the other places having no insurance or longer bus journeys etc etc this is all lies, they use the same bus company as Thomson & have all correct insurances as we later found out after booking the Loro Parque/Siam Park twin ticket with thomson (both trips were amazing - highly recommended)!!

All in all we loved our week at Hotel Luabay, yes its not the most amazing hotel in the world but for what you pay for i thought it was brilliant, do not let the negative reviews put you off.

Room Tip: Request a middle floor with seaviews.

Just back from a week at Luabay 15th - 22nd June. I dont think it is Thomson Platinum standard!!
We were on the 8th floor with limited sea view. The room was clean (apart from a big damp patch on the wall), there is a large wardrobe with 3 small drawers and a bedside shelf (no storage). The shower was unbelieveable - scolding hot, 5 seconds later freezing cold etc. The staff, in the main, were very good even though the hotel was in my opinion overfull. So much so that on our last day (along with many other couples), we were unable to book a late room. This meant that although we paid extra for a safe, we ended up sitting around the pool all day with all our valuables, passports etc. We were the lucky ones, we left at 7pm, others had to stay later. The couple of rooms that were saved as hospitality rooms were booked in 30 minute intervals to allow us to freshen up before our homeward journey- This is clearly not good enough as numerous people ended up getting changed in the reception area. If you have a late flight, I really cannot recommend the luabay as this is the first time we haven't been able to book a late room.
We didn't find the food that good at all. Very similar each day with little variety. Who wants mushy sprouts and soggy carrots every day? The best desserts that I could find were the (tinned) fruit cocktail/pear halves and icecream
The only bar within the hotel is next to the reception and is clearly not staffed sufficiently to serve the single queue allowable. The staff there though did their very best and worked like troopers.
Never ever have I had to part with cash up front for pool towels (15euro deposit per towel - always had towel cards)
The hotel is in a great location, close to the beach, bars, restaurants.
And yes, I met Mr happy at the pool bar too Lol
We won't be returning to the Luabay.

Hi I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Luabay from 15th June to 22nd, I also found the hotel very clean, food not bad there could be more choice but where do you stop. The staff are quite freindly unless you meet Mr happy at the pool bar I do not think I saw him smile once the week I was there.
There is a couple of things that the Luabay need to look at the pool area needs another bar as there is only one and you have to time your bar visit as you have to wait in a line to get served, I do beleave they need to have at least one other serving many times I watched the bar to fine at least 6 to 8 people waiting to be served.
The bar area in the hotel could be greatly improved staff are fine but there is not enough of them and again you have to line up to get served the bar is 40ft long and if you do not stand in line you do not get served, at night they need 4 to 5 staff on at least.
The chairs in the bar area are not bad but during the day people come in and sit on the same chairs in there swim wear and oliy skin at night you get changed and sit in the same seats a cushion would not go a miss, shows are not bad but it gets so hot there need to sort out the air-con, I went to a bar outside the hotel got back at about 23.10 for a night cap only to be served in a plastic cup I asked the staff for a glass and the answer was No. Would I go back may be but there are a lot of hotels out there some good and some not so good thats why we read tripadvisor.

Regards
M + A

Room Tip: We had room 819 good veiws quite at night

We stayed All Inclusive at this Hotel for a week at the begining of June and I can honestly say we couldnt fault anything! I will try and include everything in my review and I feel i must comment on a few things that i had read on here before we went that people have found to be an issue! Of course we were looking out for these "issues" and it became a bit of a joke on our holiday!
We arrived late and our first impressions of the Hotel were WOW! Very clean and impressive marble lobby and reception. We were checked in very promptly by the lovely Barbara who was very pleasant and friendly throughout our holiday.
We went to our room on the 8th floor and our room was clean, modern and comfy. We had a beautiful sea view room and overlooked the pool which was perfect. I have read that some people had "asked" for a sea view room and were dissapointed when they got a carpark view, however we actually paid for our seaview room, So you get what you pay for and cant expect to have a seaview room when others have paid for this and the hotel is full.
The beds were massive and very comfortable, infact i had the best weeks sleep while on holiday!
Ok so the "showers" that seem to be a problem for people, They were fine! Trust me no one can spend as long in the shower as i do and the most that we got was a little splash on the tiles outside the shower! Of course if you aim the nozzle towards the floor its going to get wet!
A fresh bottle of chilled water was placed in our room everyday which is a really nice touch. Sheets and towels were changed regularly and room cleaned everyday.
Nice flat screen tv on the wall, and a good variety of english channels which makes a change!
Food in this hotel is lovely, plenty of choice and variety and i am a fussy eater.
Breakfast is fruit, cereal, yoghurts (even low fat!) Fried breakfast, boiled eggs, toast, and hams and cheeses, and delicious Pancakes cooked fresh! Juice is the nicest weve had in a hotel, normally it tastes funny out of a machine but this was lovely and a choice of orange, pinapple, grapefruit, peach.
Lunch is salads, chips, chicken breasts, lots of choice of different cheeses, and crackers, fruit, even little cakes at lunchtimes!
Dinner we had steak, fish, salads, soup, veg, pizza, pasta, and one night we even had a roast! Desserts were lovely, cheesecakes, trifles, and brownies, ice cream and biscuits!
The staff in this Hotel are brilliant and deserve a mention, Every time we went to the Resturaunt we were greeted by friendly staff, and then shown to out table and then the waiter pulled my chair out for me to sit down! Its the little things like this that make your holiday special.
Not once in the whole week we were there did we have to wait any longer than a minute to be served at our table for our drinks, This i thought was excellent especially as we were All Inclusive. Special thanks to Cruz, Mauro and Luis!
I would recommend booking the Themed resturaunt while your there, we booked the Mexican which was lovely and made a nice change from the buffet resturaunt. But book at the start of your holiday as it gets booked up quickly!
The entertainment day and night was briliant, The entertainment team work hard to make poeples holiday fun and entertaining.
Evening entertainment was varied and very entertaining! Its either bingo or a quiz at 8.30pm followed by a professional act at 10.00pm. The quiz and bing was always a good laugh and you can join in if you want or not. We saw some brilliant acts, Comedy Elvis is worth a watch hilarous! Also Chicago acrobats were amazing, as was the magic show!
So the "Sunbed saga" as people have mentioned, fear not - there is no need to panic about getting a sunbed by the pools, we are not early risers especially after a few cocktails the previous evening lol and we always managed to get a sunbed together in the same place every day! Yes people do reserve beds at the crack of dawn, but you get that in every hotel and you really dont need to because there were always plenty of beds available throughout the day.
The pool area is set over 3 levels. The bottom level has the heart shape pool and i would say is the more louder area for relaxing, the middle level and top level with the infinity pool is nice and quiet and very relaxing. Also the little loungers with cushions under the sheet canapy thingy is great, nice to go and sit in there in the shade to get out of the sun for an hour.
The Pools are lovely, we spent a lot of time in the pools as it was hot weather so its nice to jump in a cool pool!
We used the "Lifts" in the hotel daily for the whole week we were there (lazy i no but we were on the 8th floor!) and can say there is no problem with the lifts being slow! Its funny what things can spoil some peoples holidays, but waiting a minute or so for a lift certainly didnt ruin ours!
The Location of this Hotel is Fantastic! There are bars and shops if you go out and turn right or left from the hotel which was great as we love to go to different bars! Nice little bar if you turn right out of the hotel called Cabana, Beers for a Euro.
If you go out of the Hotel and walk straight down it will take you to the beach, You have Torviscas beach to the left, and Fanabe Beach to the right. Lots of nice bars and resturaunts down on the beachfront and a nice little stroll along the promenade.
We did the jet skis which was awesome, this you can do on the beach for 40 ish euros and would recommend it if you like that sort of thing. You can watch the jet skis and beach activities from the Luabay Hotel.
We also went to Siam Park which i would highly recommend, its a 4th visit there and it never gets boring! Book your tickets before as there tends to be large queues at the door. Also try and go on a Tuesday of Friday as these tend to be the quieter days in the park.
The All Inclusive drinks in the hotel are nice, cocktails out of a machine but once youve had one you get used to them!
We booked a late check out on our room as we wernt flying until 10pm, and it was worth doing. It was 30 euros but it meant we could still make the most of our last day on holiday. The cleaner even changed our towels on our last day so we could shower before we left, and even put out a fresh bottle of water for us which i thought was lovely.
When we were waiting for our coach we were sat in the lobby and Barbara the girl from reception came over to a group of us and asked if we had all had an enjoyable holiday, I thought this was lovely and yet another personal touch to this hotel that made our holiday so enjoyable.

All in all we thouroughly enjoyed our holiday at the Luabay Hotel and would not hesitate to recomend it to others. You would have to be very fussy and picky to find anything wrong with this Hotel (and i am fussy lol) The staff are wonderful, food great, rooms clean, and Location is perfect. See for yourself, You wont be dissapointed!
We will definatly be returning soon :)

Room Tip: Pay for a Sea View its worth it!

We have just returned from a lovely week at this hotel. We found the hotel very relaxing, clean, tidy and well run. We found the food was excellent and waiters very attentive and prompt. We didn't have to wait for tables or drinks. If i was to be picky (and i admit this is very picky), the entertainment, which was very good, would be better outside as it was currently sited next to the indoor bar area. But as i said, this is a very minor picky point.

The location of the hotel was great, just a couple of minutes walk to the beach (across the road and down some steps) with more than enough bars etc in the local area (if you want to get out from the hotel).

Overall i would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family and i would definitely book at this hotel again.

Room Tip: The rooms next to the lifts and at the front of the hotel have larger balconies. The room we had (64...

We came back from a weeks stay on 15th June and had a really lovely time here at Luabay. We travelled with first choice, the reps from which you couldn't fault. The hotel was immaculate, reception staff were very friendly, we never had to fight over sunbeds or get up at a ridiculous hour to save them and if you stay at the top pool area you aren't pestered by the entertainment team to join in the activities. The rooms themselves were very nice, very modern and all rooms have a sea view of some sort. THE FOOD WAS AWESOME. We've been to many other 4* hotels in Costa Adeje and would say the food and dining facilities were the best here. For a weeks stay you can have 2 evenings in the a la carte restaurant where they offer 2 themed evenings, spanish tapas and mexican. The buffet restaurant for lunch and the remaining evenings was excellent. Waiters were professional, tables were cleared quickly, there was never a wait for a table or a struggle to find one as most often you were shown to a table. There is a wide selection of salads, breads, soup, fresh pasta, pizza's, fish and meat were cooked in front of you and the puddings and cheese selection was varied and very tasty unlike other hotels. As you step out of the hotel whichever way you walk you are surrounded by bars and restaurants and you are seconds away from the beach. No idea why there are bad reviews about this hotel anywhere on the internet, I would definitely recommend it to any couple of any age. I want to go back!!

Stayed in feb for 7 nights for a girlie winter break. outside the building is amazing and the lobby is sparkling. We had asked for a high sea view room but got a smokey 1st floor carpark view, which i refused and was told bluntly that was our room, after 20minutes of arguing we got a level 7 room much better, needs cupboards and a bath. tv works without remote, beds comfy and lovley hot water. Aircon not working but we didnt need it. food was fab and service excellent, wine was cheap but didnt really drink it. the bar had good variety but there was one waiter who was very in your face and as we were both 21 seemed very persistant to the point where we asked a waiter who came round every 45 min to irdrr are drinks. pools were lovley, normal sunbed issues but we were always in full sun by midday. beach was lovley
Good stay but not 5* or premier, but a standard relaxing holiday
