We travelled as a small family, me, my husband and his 13 year old daughter. First impressions......... very nice!!!

The hotel is conviently located next to the beach and and some good bars and restaurants, favourite of ours being the Moonlight and Little Italy for lunch.

Arrived at the hotel and checked in which seemed to take a while with form filling. As were given a room on the third floor we opted to take the lifts, 4 lifts in total. Took a while but better than dragging 3 cases up 3 flights on stairs!!!

Rooms were lovely, very clean and accomdated the 3 of us comfortably. As we arrived in the afternoon we were extremely hot and the first priority was to figure out the air conditioning. Took a while but after a while we closed the balcony door and found the aircon worked. Very clever!!!!

Food was excellent every day!! Stayed at hotels with buffet service before and was not impressed with the quality of the food. At the Torviscas Playa however we were pleasently impressed with the choice and the quality.

Lunch time there is a snack bar open at the pool side bar serving burgers etc. Ate there once and the price was a little expensive for the quality of the food so opted to eat at the Little Italy restaurant next to the shortcut to the beach at the back of the hotel. Excellent salads and pizza, more money than the pool side bar but not much and the quality was excellent.

Pool itself was lovely, a nice cool temperature which is a welcome relief from the hot sun in the afternoon. Only downside is the polava of actually getting a sunbed. Be on your marks at 8am as this is the only time you will get a decent bed! Tried not to be silly and get up early just to get a bed but after day 2 when we had to make do with one bed and a plastic chair between the 3 of us we gave in!! Hotel have signs up advising that reservations were not tolerated but not a damn thing was done to stop it.

We didn't stay in the hotel after dinner so can't comment on the evening entertainment but found a bar called the Moonlight oposite the Little Italy restaurant which we went to every night. Different act on every night which we thought was quite good apart from the Queen Tribute band!!!

All in all we had a superb time at this hotel and would recommend it to others. Might even book to go back next year!!!

We stayed at the Torviscas Playa for 11 nights; family of 5 with boys aged 18,15 and 12. We travel frequently and this was the best holiday that we have had for years. Lots of families with no sight of any trouble or kids misbehaving. The hotel is clean, modern and has plenty going on both during the day and at night for all ages. The rooms are comfortable, modern but a little on the small side. The maid service was second to none, clean bedding every other day and towels changed daily. The buffet restaurant caters for all and there was a huge selection of food at both breakfast and dinner (no end of king prwans), i particularly liked the fact that the hotel imposed a dress code for dinner (we did not eat out of the hotel as the food was so good). The entertainment crew were fantastic, incredibly talented who made an effort to encourage all guests to participate within the daily programme. Great effort goes into planning the evening programmes with a mix of both external artists and the in house entertainers performing. The hotel is located within a modern area and within easy walking distance of all local ameneties, there are some great local bars with good evening entertainment. The beech is busy with lots to do; paragliding, banana boat etc. In summary no complaints what so ever, we will definately return to the Torviscas Playa.

Recently returned from our 11th visit to the Torviscas Hotel. Over the years we have travelled with anything from 3 -35 people and have never been dissapointed. Im sure that every one of the 35 have returned at some time as they have been so impressed.

The hotel staff are very friendly and will do their upmost to help.

The rooms are a little dated but are spotlessly clean which is more important in my opinion. If you can stretch the budget then the suite's are nice and they have the most spectacular views over the beach and out to sea.

The food is excellent - you can always find something to suit as its buffet style self service - children and vegetarians are well catered for in separate areas.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for 2 weeks with our 3 kids aged 16, 3 and 10 months. Firstly there are no baby changing facilities in the whole hotel and the high chairs in the restaurant have no straps so are very dangerous although its a family hotel they need to add a few things for babies! Our first impression was quite good, clean reception and pleasant staff and a porter to take cases up to room. Rooms were very clean but beds a bit hard very good air conditioning. Hotel in general very clean but there are lots of seating areas that dont seem to be used so its a big hotel with no atmosphere! Sofas in these areas are very dated and are in desperate need of renewing. Pool area was lovely very clean but once again no atmosphere it could do with some music during the day. We only did the towel run 3 times as it got ridiculous but we never had a problem getting a sunbed after about 2, we went to beach for a while in the morning instead. The lifts were a nightmare! We had a double buggy so couldnt carry it up the stairs so waiting for a lift wasted half our holiday! There are only 4 and sometimes it seemed as if only 1 was working and then when it arrived the doors would not open!! Staff in the hotel were fantastic, Entertainment team were the best we have ever seen, great shows and always seemed happy to see everyone. Maxim could smile a bit more though!! Restaurant staff were brilliant especially Carlos and Miguel, they never seemed to mind that my baby had thrown nearly everything on the floor!! After 2 weeks of the same food i could have thrown my food on the floor!! Good quality food but boring! Drinks in hotel very expensive so best to get some from shop. The News Cafe opposite hotel was a blast, Dave was a gem who made sure everyone had a good time. Bit gutted that Siam Park had not opened yet as it is advertised as being open so other waterpark seemed a bit rubbish!! Loro Parque was ok but be prepared for 2 1/2 hour journey not the 1 hr 20 mins we were told!
All in all we had a lovely 2 weeks in a nice hotel but could do with updating and injecting some atmosphere and extra lifts! Lovely area and beach but i would not recommend this hotel or go back.

Where can i start? This hotel was beautiful, brilliant, clean, fun. Should be more than a 4 star! Food was nice but after a 2 week stay it got a bit repetitive. Entertainment staff were brilliant, friendly, funny, great with people of all ages. Reception staff were friendly enough and helpful when needed. Waiting staff were very quick and efficient, also very friendly. Rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh towels daily (maids friendly too). Very close to the beach, although we only went there once we couldnt complain. Local bars and restaurants very close and very nice. We recommend 'The First and Last Pub' if you are looking for a good night out. The only thing we could really complain about was our first choice rep, he wasnt helpful when we needed him, he didnt seem like he wanted to help, although he did have 300 of his own guests to look after. Be prepared to get up early to get a decent sunbed as people are like animals cueing up for the doors to open at 8am, but this wasnt a problem for us as we are used to getting up early on holiday to get beds, it also added a bit of comedy for the morning. All ages seem welcome here as there is something for everyone. Not much else we can say about this holiday really, it was fantastic and we would definately recommend this place to everyone!!!!

Me and my wife travelled to tenerife with high hopes for the Torviscas playa due to others recommendations on this site, and although it never lived up to expectations it was still a good hotel, the food was good although in the second week it got a bit repetitive, the only real annoying thing was the sunbed vultures, even though there is signs stating you cant reserve a bed every day without fail they were all taken by breakfast with only a few people actually lying on them. The hotel staff were friendly and the waiters were amazing, the reception staff could do with a bit of cheering up now and again though. Our only real grumble about the hotel was being moved after the first week due to plumbing problems in our room, but we did get a better view with our second room. (make sure you ask for a sea view on arrival) When booking trips book them with the venders on the street, dont go with your reps, shop around and you will save almost half of what your rep offers.

Returned last Friday the 18th July from a week's stay at the Torviscas Playa Hotel in Tenerife. We travelled in a family group of ten people from Belfast and the journey went smoothly until we arrived at the airport. The luggage took over an hour and a half to arrive on the carousel and there was no sign of the holiday rep from Thomas Cook. When we did eventually make our way to the coach the rep [a thin brown haired girl with glasses] finally made an appearance. She came on to the bus and handed out welcome packs and made a brief and uninformative presentation over a crackling PA system. Most of what she said was inaudible and the whole thing was very rushed. It was obvious that she had better things to do and could'nt wait to get off the bus.She did however, promise to meet everyone the next morning in the hotel where everyhing would be explained in details and all queries answered.
She didn't show up the following day and no reasons were given. When we inquired of her wherabouts to the hotel staff we were met with blank faces and no explanation. In fact the whole thing was a waste of everyone's time because the fleeting visit she made to the bus was the only confirmed sighting of her the whole week even though reps from other companies were always in evidence.
]The rest of the holiday was brilliant though. The hotel was immaculate and the best we have ever stayed in. The staff were extremely courteous, friendly and efficient. The food was excellent, varied, well prepared and plentiful. Dining at the evening meal was a pleasure as the hotel has a dress policy . Bikini tops and all types of swimwear were banned and men were only admitted with long trousers and not allowed in with shorts.Having had the misfortune on previous holidays of dining with slobs in dripping swimsuits and leaving a trail of sand everywhere, this was a very pleasant innovation which was much appreciated.
The hotel has four lifts and there are never any queues. The rooms are all equipped with fridges and hair driers. The latter proved very useful for one of our group who was stupid enought to dive into the hotel pool not once but twice with his wallet in his shorts and had to dry his paper money out both times. The cleaners have a tendency to move any swipe cards left on so that the electricity goes out. This means the air conditioning and fridge switches off. It is better to wait until they have finished before activating it again.
There are three pools at the hotel and the largest is no deeper than about five foot. In addition there is also a jacuzzi in the centre of the smaller round pool and this is easily accessable for everyone including non swimmers.
The beach is a two minute walk away down a series of steps which also lead to the local bars and shops. These are no different to the shops and bars you would find in a hundred other resorts. The street sellers who peddle sungasses and cheap watches are very persistant and will approach you if even you are dining. The only problem is once you get rid of one another appears seconds later offering to sell you the same rubbish.
The beach itself isn't that great. The sand is constantly being undermined at your feet by the waves and there are hidden depths and hollows. At 15 euros for a pair of sunbeds and a parosol [non-tranferrable] it's nothing to write home about and further up the beach looked more promising.
Being Irish we found a nice pub called the Temple Bar which is joined to another called The Irish Fiddler. The staff seemed interchangeable between the two so it's probably owned by the same people. If this was the case, I have no idea why it has'nt been amalgamated into one large bar.Would make more sense.
It wasn't an exclusively Irish clientiele when we were there as the bar was filled with mostly English and some Scottish. Two lads from Fermanagh called Eoghan and Frankie were playing and they were very good and made for an nice atmosphere. We were told that Daniel O'Donnell pops in quite a bit as he has a villa on the island and that he often gets up for a song . The best month to see [or avoid him] is January.
So that's about it. A very enjoyable stay with no complaints except for the lesser spotted holiday rep.We would definately go back.
