This is a 'good hotel' but do not understand the rating of 5. The hotel is in a quieter side of Adeje which is what we wanted, however the hotel itself is tired. There are lots of areas where plaster is falling of the walls in public areas, the rooms are spacious but tired especially the bathroom, the towels are particularly tired, in fact our 'dogs' towels at home are less worn. Staff are attentive and helpful, the resaurant was often busy and noisy, the salads were very good and an exceptional supply of fresh shellfish. Some of the other dishes were un - inspiring. We had heavy rain for two days, the hotel struggled with flooded corridors and leaky roofs in public areas, it was 'dodge the buckets' last night. As the hotel has been open several years now there has been time to rectify the areas that do not cope with heavy rain.

Room Tip: We up graded our room at booking but still it was 'tired' and because of the hotel layout lo...

My wife and I stayed at the Gran from 22/11 until 3/12. The hotel is a 5 star package holiday hotel in a good location and excellent facilities.

From check in through to check out all the staff were helpful, obliging and courteous, nothing was too much trouble or an inconvenience. The reception staff were particularly helpful from giving help advice regarding anything to enhance our stay, ie bus time tables, local attractions and where to obtain postage stamps etc. During the last day of our holiday we experienced a terrific storm from 12.00 mid day until 6.00pm, this resulted in rain coming through the ceiling of our room. We were on the top with a flat roofed section, all other rooms has a tiled roof. On reporting the problem we were informed that we could move to the next room which was empty for the night. The new room key was delivered to us within 10 minutes. We in fact stayed in our original room as the leak stopped soon after the storm ended. This typified the level of standard and care that the Gran offers their guests.

Our room was large and spacious with a splendid view of the pools and sea including La Gomera. The shower was particularly good with high pressure and constant hot water. The Decoration was dated but was keep very clean and well maintained.

The food was of a high standard and quality, particularly the cooking stations. I agree with other reports regarding the large number of guests circulating at meal times but there were a number of sections where a more intimate table could be found. Drinks were reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel with a good choice of wines.

The entertainment was very professional with a range of acts, including tribute acts of the 3Tenors, Beatles and Eagles plus dance and acrobatic groups.

Would recommend for a good value hotel.

My wife and I have just returned from a one week stay at this hotel and it was an enjoyable experience. On arrival we were impressed by the facade as well as the lobby area which was huge. A lovely Christmas tree was in place as well as a Nativity scene which was a nice touch. Our room was big and pleasant although a little dated, we were on the ground level in room 140 with views of the mountains. The only downside was the fact that we could hear the early morning deliveries to the restaurant at 5.30am as we were directly above the room.
Food was good with plenty of selection. There are two large pools on the ground level one of which was heated but the other was cold. There is also another smaller pool on the sixth floor which gives good views of the surrounding vista. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Location is good if, like us, you enjoy a quieter resort, however there is a regular bus service into Las Americas and Los Christianos which only takes 20 minutes and is cheap at 1.45 Euros per journey. There is also an excellent street market opposite the hotel every Thursday & Saturday. Wi fi is intermittent which is a bit irksome but there again you don't go on holiday to be glued to a computer screen. Overall a good hotel which in my opinion just falls short of a five star but for the price we paid this was value for money.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the second floor or higher and ask for south facing.

A superb hotel where the hard working and committed staff go on caring, even after you have left!
My husband left his much loved Tilly hat on the reception desk when we checked out.
We contacted the reception desk from the airport and the hat was found and posted on to us to arrive a week later.
Many Thanks to the caring staff of this A1 hotel.

Room Tip: The second or third floor seem better

We stayed here for 4 nights in December - a quickie anniversary/birthday get-away for some much-needed sun. The lobby is stunning on arrival, huge but still cosy, very elegant and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Check-in was simple and a welcome drink on arrival was a nice touch. It had rained for the past few days and management put signs in all the lifts apologising to guests for the inconvenience, not that it was their fault!

We opted for the B&B option and breakfast did not disappoint, plenty to choose from and the omlettes are highly recommended. The pool area is HUGE, four pools in total (including the roof-top pool) and sunbeds galore - the hotel operates the "no reserving sunbeds" policy strictly. Despite the hotel being fully booked, the pool area was lovely and quiet all day. The entertainment staff do come round once in a while to offer various activities, but they don't badger you. The small pool-side bar was a touch expensive for food but the larger one with the seating area gave much better value for money - the lasagne and spag bol were delicious.

Our room faced the pool & sea on the 4th floor and the view was wonderful. The room was large, clean, with two huge beds and probably the most powerful shower I've ever been in! The only downside was the lack of tea/coffee making facilities. A lovely touch was when management knocked on the door and gave me a card and a box of choccies - we hadn't told them it was my birthday :-)

We ate dinner at the hotel twice and if you don't mind the bustling cafeteria-style experience, its fine. Quieter tables away from the hubbub can be found if you turn left when entering the restaurant. There was plenty of choice on offer and all very fresh. We didn't try the a la carte restaurant, but wish we had.

The evening entertainment varied from good to excellent and was always well attended. If you like your booze, don't miss out on Happy Hour at the bar in the Lobby, half price drinks from 23:00 :-)

The hotel does have wi-fi but the range isn't great and the connection drops a lot but that's hardly surprising giving the size of the hotel. Just don't rely on it for any length of time.

It must take a small army to run this hotel and they have got it down to perfection - absolutely no faults with the polite and professional service from everyone at the hotel.

Apart from the two tiny points mentioned, we can't praise this hotel highly enough and would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone.

Stayed here during October and found this hotel beautiful.. When you arrive the hotel entrance is very grand and takes your breath away, the lobby is lovely and check in was quick.. We arrived as the Restaurant was closing, but the food was still fresh and plentiful.. The hotel and rooms are lovely decorated, clean and fresh.. We stayed at the back over looking the mountain and our view was stunning, the grounds stunning and there's plenty for everyone to do to keep busy.. The reps were fab.. My kids loved the kids club and mini disco, the staff were very nice and made slot of effort with the children.. The buffet was amazing and there was soooo much to eat.. Plenty for everyone's taste, all fresh and fantastic quality.. The show cooking and pasta area were gorgeous and worth queuing for.. Deserts were also gorgeous.. Evening entertainment was the usual stuff but was great to watch.. The bar did become really busy at times and waiting to be served could get annoying.. Location is central and close to everything.. Overall fantastic, can't wait to go back..

Returning for the third time in the past 12 months we received an extremely warm welcome on entering the restaurant from Xavier, Pedro , Catie and Stela and it was a pleasure to see the familiar faces of Jaspar, who coaches the waiters so well in English, Larabass, Mohammed, Goyo, Tamara , Jonathan, Jesus and so many other smiling waiters. Possibly the courteous, friendly and helpful staff are this hotels greatest asset.
There was a wide choice of dishes for dinner, possibly better than previously and we never found any monotony during our 4week sojourn.
The hotel is well located in a very desirable area , fairly close to the sea, good shopping facilities and bus services from which the island can be explored.
We have stayed in three other hotels in Costa Adeje , all very good, but the Gran Hotel is our favourite.
