My wife and I are just back from a wee week at Playa Olid, we booked last minute as we had planned to go to another Hotel but changed our mind and we were glad we did. Flew with Ryanair, no probs, we also booked the transfer with Jumbo transfers, again excellent, only waited about 15mins at airport then taken by minibus to hotel via 3 stops. Only took us 25mins. Check in was fine although had problem with electronic door card but repair man was there in 5 mins and quickly resolved this. The door card works the electric and water and you put it into the slot on wall at door.

We were in room Red 105, a studio, very large studio, with kitchen facilities, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, decent sized bathroom., and only 1 min walk from pool.

Breakfast was very good, good choice and eggs cooked fresh by chef, the drinks are all self service in restuarant, tea, coffee, water, juices, cola, sprite. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. I think the area has been recently refurbed as it was spotless clean and new looking. Only problem is toast making machine, tooooo slow, if owners are reading this then invest in the toasters that rotate so that you just pop the bread in one side and are toasted and slide out bottom.

Lunch, again very good, bit samey but plenty of choice, burgers, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, pizza, soup, breads, salads, pastas olives, Again freshly cooked meats.

Dinner, they have themes nights and when we were there they had a Canarian night, excellent, live music from the real Canarian people in the restuarant, excellent food.
Plenty of choices , freshly cooked, also during lunch and dinner you can help yourself to nice cold San Miguel on tap, white wine, rose wine and chilled red wine, all very good.

The pool can get busy but it seemed to me that as week went on and more people arrived the hotel put out more loungers and cushions to cover them, very comfy, again only problem, not enough Parasols. The main pool is good, there was some work going on at back of hotel but just ask to get pool music and it soon drowns it out. Special mention to Alex and Sylvania, Bar staff at pool, excellent service, always smiling, very friendly, credit to the hotel. Reception staff take note, wee bit more smiling would go a long way.
Restuarant staff, excellent again.

Pool bar- lager== good, local vodka== bit rough, cocktails ok, . The best is the slush machine, blue and red, so refreshing and even better with a wee vodka in it. They also have tea and coffee and in the afternoon they put out cakes and buns for all inclusive guests which is great.

There are 3 pools, the main pool near reception, a small kids pool across wooden bridge, and another larger pool at back of hotel. This pool is quite drearie and dull with no pool bar but good if you want peace and quiet, it looks on to the now closed Skypark.
Pool bar is open from around 10am until 6pm and Bar inside hotel open at 5pm until 11pm. The hotel bar is ok apart from serving beer in small wine glasses, I asked for the plastic san miguel cups which are better as they hold more. Wee tip.

The evening entertainment is not great, we would sit until 10ish then go out to another pub for entertainment. They do try and there is a kids disco at half 8 then a parrot show or snake show or singer plus disco until 11pm then it stops, bar closes and you can't buy a drink.
If you do leave the hotel, go left, 10 min to beach and bars, 24hrs supermarkets, ATM at bottom of hill. Internet cafe about 2 mins on left from Hotel and there is also The Pub, we watched Tenerifes answer to Roy Chubby Brown, very funny and blue.

Go right out of hotel and up hill and walk along road that runs parallel to Main rd and you will come to another area with pubs and clubs. It is about 15-20min walk. The Rumpot is there with Billy Porter on a Monday night, well worth a visit, also, The Chippy, open until 2.30am, brilliant., Real fish and chips.

The rooms are cleaned every 2nd day, fresh towels and bedding.

Overall it was very good, plus the weather was excellent.

Room Tip: If only 2 of you, get the studi,, Red 101-105

I don't know why some people are moaning so much! I read a review stating "not much choice of English food" if u want english food, stay in England! Can't fault the staff, was very clean throughout the hotel, food was perfectly adequate. Your paying for a 3* hotel, don't expect chandeliers and champagne and you will be fine. Only thing I can fault the hotel on is the bar closed at 11pm which is too early

Just returned from a weeks all inclusive at playa olid.Stayed there with my 4yr old son.Apartments were big, bright and clean. All the staff were helpful and friendly.Had a great variety at meal times, although molre fresh fruit would have been nice. The beach was a ten minute stroll from beach, although uphill on way back.Waterpark was a 20 min walk away or a courtesy bus could be got at near by hotel.I was all inclusive so did not sample any of the near by restuarants food, although I spoke to others who had eaten out and found some lovely restuarants and night life near by.There are 3 pools at the hotel, all well maintained and it was always reasonably easy to get a sun bed at each of them. The only down side of my stay were the dreaded coackroaches.I had 1 in my room on arrival and 3 a couple of nights later.I reported it to reception who had the room sprayed.Again I had spoke with several others regards the coackroaches and only 2 other families had experienced them.
On the whole a great week was had by both me and my son and I wouild definitely return.

We read a few reviews before we left, we always do. I can agree this hotel is a great find!!! I am a fussy eater but found plenty to eat every meal time & never went hungry. I was around the pool 1 day & heard people whinging... seriously didnt know why!!! We tend to go 5 star but only booked this a few days before we flew out as a last min quick break & really enjoyed it. There are plenty of sunlougers, no need to go out before breaki but most people did... these are prob people that complain they cant get a lounger... we walked a few hours 1 morning & came to sun bake at 11.30am & got 2 loungers together. Great stroll to beach & bars, 4 euro's to veronica's, awesome weather, rooms clean & huge, facilities in room were good although we never found the need to cook anything as we all inclusive. Drinks package was good, great selection just look at the bar menu's & it tells you which drinks are included, All staff were great, happy & jolly, Dining room very modern & never a wait for food although the resturant was quite often busy, no probs here, the staff keep it clean & tidy, no problems with cold food but if you do find it a bit cooler than you like there is a microwave available. All in all we really did enjoy it here, if we decide on another quick getaway we wont hesitate to book again. Entertainment isnt all that but that isnt what we went for, the karaoke was entertaining, the parrot show funny but the magician... well leaves a lot to be desired..... go enjoy & get bookin!!!

Just returned home from this hotel and after reading mixed reviews was slightly worried, but the people who have written bad reviews serioulsy what you were you expecting from a 3 star hotel in tenerife. hotel very clean, rooms large and staff friendly, meals were decent enough and always found something to eat.. good enough location with a nice stroll down to the beach and bars... taxi into playa de las americas was roughly about about 7 euros.. We went to siam park for the day which i would highly recommend to anyone well worth the money but try to purchase the tickets before you go me and my partner got them in the UK they were cheaper and did not have to wait in the que like the other couple we travelled with.we went to the news cafe a couple fo nights with a great karoke and drink resonably priced. all in all great holiday...another tip do not use the hotel phone or internet far cheaper to walk 2 minutes down the road to the interent cafe.
