This is a nice hotel in a very good position but in all honestly 4 * is rather optimistic !3.5 would be nearer the mark. For a big hotel it is very quite, the corridors have carpet tiles down the middle and the area near the lifts is carpeted too. The room though are not - unlike the Iberostar Torviscas Playa where we stayed last year ( and which really does deserve 4* ) The rooms are pretty much what you’d expect, one plus is the provision of a fridge in all the rooms.

What does need addressing though is the décor. It did seem to be a bit of an early 1980s time warp with a lot of dark yellow and dark brown wood. It really does need decorating throughout, tired is probably the best way to describe it.

There are two large swimming pools, the small one is heated ( a bit ), the large pool was FREEZING !!!!!!!!

Although there is entertainment at the hotel most nights we went out but two of the shows, tributes to Abba and the Supremes in particular were really good and way above the average.

The restaurant has a strange layout. There are several serveries but the vegetables are some way away from the meat and fish dishes, It works ok but is a bit strange. If you’r thinking of having wine with your dinner its VERY EXPENSIVE. There are special offers on Tuesday and Friday which are worth having . We were half board but we were very surprised to see on the wine list that you have to pay extra if your on an all inclusive package which does seem to defeat the object somewhat.

The quality of the food did vary and there was a not a lot of vegetarian options, unlike the Torviscas.
Some nights it was pretty good, others bland, and there was little fruit available other than papaya. Breakfasts were fine.

We were there a week and the big test of a hotel is would you go back ? Yes we would but only if we could not get in at the Torviscas which really is the best holiday hotel we have stayed in.

One thing though I do need to add is a health warning about the prices in Tenerife. In most cases things are cheaper in England. We did some shopping in the Carrefour at Santa Cruz, spirits and wines are cheaper in ASDA ! Other things seemed about the same as the UK

In the local shops in Playa las Americas the owners seem to have lost touch with reality. A 200ml bottle of Pantene £5.40. A small packet of Hobnobs £3.80. £15 for a small bottle of Nivea sun cream and over £4.50 for a jar of Ragu ! and £1.80 0 for a Bounty. No wonder many of the ”supermercados” were like mausoleums and that so many shops were SE VENDE !

This was our second stay at Bouganville after enjoying a week at easter here last year.

The hotel didn't disappoint. It's bright, very clean and relaxing with good food and plenty of choice (unless you're really fussy), two pools, plenty of sunbeds, no need to get up at dawn to reserve.

Others have commented on "shabby" rooms. Ours was (again) perfectly acceptable. Some scuff marks etc in the room but still bright, spacious and clean. Given that this is one of the lower priced hotels in this range, it is excellent value for money.

Hotel bar pricey but not ridiculous. Better value in bars around but as stated elsewhere, the resort was quite a bit quieter than our last visist. This was a shame as there was no real atmosphere in the bars at night - most of which offered beer at 1.50 a pint to attract customers.

We enjoyed "Old Friends" bar on the front -friendly, cheap, clean and desreves to do well. Also Cafe del Sol across the road from hotel does excellent quality sandwiches/baguettes (and probably meals) at good prices.

We wouldn't hesitate to return

We stayed here at easter. It was quiet until all the local came for easter weekend. Mix of nationalities. Hotel is in middle of las americas and adeje. Close to the beach. Hotel had good activities in the day and 2 big pools. we had to pay for the use of the astro turf/tennis court 6 euro for an hour. very clean rooms maids in every day. Hotel very expensive for drinks did not stay at hotel for night entertainment as drinks too pricey. large choice of food but becomes repetitive food ok for the kids always chips, pizza, nuggets ice cream and cakes. We were 10 min walk either way for bars/restaurants. not a lot of family bars with entertainment for kids so make sure you take the DS out with you. the shops and food now seem pricey due to euro exchange rate so low the only thing cheaper is cigarettes. Siam park is excellent and only 10 min walk 28 euro adult and 18 euro for kids up to 12 years. went see the dolphins excellent trip.

Just come back from a week at the Bouganville. Overall a very nice hotel in a central location. As other reviews have said the rooms are a bit dated but kept very clean. We were in room 1025 and had lovely view of pool and beaches and right out over las americas. Food is good, lots of variety and never a problem finding a table. My only criticism would be the price of drinks £2.50 for a small beer is ridiculous. There are plenty of places nearby where the drinks are a lot cheaper. I would definitley return to this hotel.

This is our fifth Easter in Costa Adeje but our first at the Bouganville. We had been recommended this hotel by friends and when we were in Tenerife last Easter went to have a look. 10 min walk to Puerto Colon and 15min to Veronicas - very central.
Hope this review is helpful.
Room - 865 - super view of Puerto Colon marina. Rooms were very clean with groovy yellow and blue flowery curtains. Fridge and tv with BBC1 and ITV
Food - breakfast had everything you could think of - cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cooked breakfast and omlettes and eggs cooked while you wait.
dinner was very good - usual buffet salads, pastas, pork, chicken, fish.... couldn't have been better. My husband was not fussed on the choice of desserts - assorted pasteries and cakes with no taste... but really we could not grumble.
The Bouganville has 3 pools but we spent our days on the roof top terrace which was so peaceful and not too many about. The facilities suited us as we used the gym every day which had modern with clean equipment (The only gripe would be there were a few children playing with weights and the treadmill which is so dangerous and no one about to supervise)
There was a varied programme of entertainment day and night which was very professional and would suit all tastes.
As we have been to Adeje before we went to our usual little bars - Oscars (fab entertainment every night with two great hosts - Val and Eddie), Leanardos with the wilde boys near Veronicas, Neighbours Bar at the Marina with Keith and Laura and Legends with Deano. It did seem that everywhere was quieter this year.
All in all we will be back again next Easter and staying at the Bouganville.

Have just returned from 10 days at the Bouganville Playa. It lived up to all the previous good reviews and I'm glad we chose to go there. Staff were really friendly and the choice of food in the restaurant was excellent. The room was very clean and not at all shabby.
The hotel is in an excellent location with good bus services to Los Christianos. There are lots of pubs in the area with entertainment but the best by far is the Pheasant Plucker. We went on trips to Mount Teide, Lora Parque and La Gomera which were all excellent. Try the submarine trip, it's really special. If you take the ferry to La Gomera you'll need to take some photo id to buy tickets. It is quite expensive to use the ferry.
The only thing I can find to moan about would be the restaurants whose staff stop you every couple of yards along the road to ask you if you want to eat there.
We would return to the Bouganville Playa on a future trip to Tenerife but would ask for a room where the balcony gets the sun in the late afternoon. Our room was on the 3rd floor facing the main road and we got the sun for about half an hour very early in the morning. I don't know if the hotel has stopped giving out champagne when you arrive but we never received any. We also never received any refund of the 10 euros we paid for the safety deposit box in the room. Overall, a good experience.

I have received a few emails asking re the room numbers for rooms that get the sun in the late afternoon...

I have only done rooms from floor 7 and above of course if you want lower rooms then just go down on the first number.
West facing rooms you really need to be on floor 7 or above to have a good view, pool view rooms won’t really matter what floor your on.......BUT beware if you are on the low floors you may slightly hear the entertainment (finishes at 10.30pm) and Karaoke (finishes at midnight)
You will have to pay a supplement for the rooms with a pool view or and sea view of 50 Euros per week per room, (well that is what it was late year not sure if it has gone up or not. If 3 people in the room then it is 75 Euros per week per room.
Room Numbers
734 to 738, 834 to 838, 934 to 938 Pool View and sea view East facing sun in the morning.
763 to 769, 863 to 869, 963 to 969 Sea view west facing so you get the last of the sun before sunset.
A floor (very top) 1079 to 1081 or 1070 to 1071 sorry can’t remember which were on East facing and west facing. I think 1070 and 1071 where West facing.
You will need to email the hotel direct before you go.....[--] they will most likely reply saying that they can’t guarantee the rooms and to ask when you check in..........but all I would do in the first email is say that this is the first time in coming and the hotel was recommended by a guest that has stayed many times at the hotel.........etc etc grovel sort of!!! And say that you know that there will be a supplement of 50 Euros per week (that’s what it was last year so not sure if it has gone up) and you are 100% happy at paying that.......etc etc .
If you are on a flight that arrives late at night make a note of the room numbers for when you arrive at reception then you can quickly check what room they have given you!!!! I myself like to have the sun in the late afternoon on the balcony so I have a room facing west rather than a pool view but then again a pool view is nice!!! But what even I would ask for a high floor room 8 or above!!!
