We booked fairly last minute via Thompsons. The hotel is large and of very ugly design. On the way back from the beach, it looks like something from the days of Stalinist Russia and single-handedly spoils the look of that area. Inside, a wide, glossy foyer. If you have been to the Trafford Centre you will have an idea of the decor. Aztec statues and crumbling papier mache rock formations. The railing by reception is wobbly, so don't lean on it! The rooms were pretty basic but clean and comfortable enough. The bathroom spacious and a good strong hot shower - beware, it runs cold for one second! Food was OK, plenty of choice so we always found something to eat. I don't want chips with everything and am more than happy to eat local foods. I didn't try pork and chicken - it didn't seem cooked properly. Service was fine. We didn't attend any entertainment, nor spend much time at the pool. The harbour and walk along the front were most attractive and we ate out quite a few times, having two special dinners at the Jardines, one at the seafood restaurant and the other in the courtyard. Fabulous! For some reason, we had to have the all inclusive deal and wear a plastic bracelet, which was OK. We had a cocktail at the bar every night, whoopee, and baby grandson loved watching all the kids dancing about on stage with a tireless young woman entertainer. I boughtca beautiful silk scarf from one of thevstalls in the foyer. The lift is a problem for a hotel this size. It must be making money for the owners, so time to reinvest with extensive refurbs guys! Would stay again, was an easy going place, very well situated, clean etc.

E-mailed the hotel before arrival and got exactly what I requested - sunny, high floor room and an even better view. Was very pleased! Reception staff were all very helpful and polite, and even loaned us an iron free of charge. The food was, in our opinion, some of the best we have had in a AI hotel, but strangely the quality did deteriorate somewhat in the second week - lumpy, burnt scrambled eggs for example. We assumed there may have been a staff changeover. However, this did not really take away from our enjoyment of the food - having a plateful of mussels and king prawns is my idea of heaven! The hotel is in a great position and very handy for everything you could want

Yes, it's true there are add-on's to the AI list - specialist coffee's and cocktails, crisps etc and I have not come across this before, but it didn't bother us. I would just suggest you have some change in your pocket if you fancy a 'posh' coffee of cocktail after lunch or dinner.

The rooms are a good size, bed's are comfy and certainly ours was cleaned and made up daily.
All in all, I would recommend this hotel for it's staff, food and position. Three things did niggle - every room door I saw looked in need of painting - is the hotel undergoing refurb.? The lift is dreadful - you could lose the will to live waiting for it! And there is no full length mirror in the room and what there is is quite high up - so if you're vertically challenged, but like to know what you look like when going out, this could be a problem. But if you get over these slight issues, this is smashing hotel and one to which I would return.

Room Tip: Request a high floor for a good view.

Dear Guest,

We lament events such as those described, the hotel has all the security measures available.

Tenerife and its hotels are completely safe and it would not be fair that an unfortunate fact of this kind tarnish experiences like yours.

We hope you had a good journey back home and decide to give another chance to Tenerife.

Sincerely,

I have just returned from as weeks holiday in the La Niña and could write a book with reasons not to book this hotel! We upgraded to a sea view room, which was ok, but the balcony was boxed in, became far to warm to sit in relax in and if you wanted to take in the view you had to stand up!
The room was ok and cleaned daily by a lovely friendly made and the location was next to shops, the beach and bars. They also had a go at entertainment in the hotel and it was ok. However the food was awful, always cold, and the fresh hot plate which served fish, steak. Chicken and pork. The food was never cooked through chicken raw in the middle every time! By day 3 I gave up for fear of listeria! The restaurant was waiter service and incredible slow, I had to play at hunt the waiter very night to order drinks. The bar service was the same, one small bar to serve a full hotel so long queues and quite Often bar British customers were overlooked . The add on were a disgrace, if you wanted a coffee it was free. And. Whiskey it's was free ask for them in the same glass - €2. This was a common them with cocktails, cava etc. there were constant fashion shows which became intrusive when you were reclaiming around the pool and the music levels are extremely high, so if you have a room with a pool view expect a lot of noise. However the worse part of the holiday was the rude reception staff namely Alexandria, how not only ignored me and served 4 other guest before me, but then blamed me for not going to her and expecting her to come to me! Shocking for the front of house at a 4 star hotel to be so rude to a guest. Lastly I booked this hotel to make use of the spa facilities and when I arrived it was shut! No explanation or apology. Oh and the wait for the lift is ridiculous !

Room Tip: There are no good rooms, but I would go for a high floor to get a better view.

My wife and myself arrived at this hotel on the evening of Easter Sunday. It seems as if you are walking into a shopping centre when you first arrive but once through the main door it leads to a large open plan reception area. The check in was quick and friendly. I had e mailed previous to arrival and requested a high floor with a sea view. Our room was on the 7th floor and had a lovely view of the sea. The front door of the room could be doing with a coat of paint as it was all scuffed and dirty. Not a good 1st impression! Our room was fine with all you could expect and the bed was very comfortable. This is were things started to go downhill.
We unpacked and then went for dinner. After a limited salad dish which is not replenished often enough leaving a few dishes unavailable we had the one choice of soup. Main course has a choice of four dishes, a show cooking dish and chips and chicken nuggets. Peas seem to play a big part in the main dish choice. Must have been a fire sale at a pea factory! We didn't check out the dessert choice. I have to also say that their was only two waiters/waitresses on duty and on two occasions during our meals while staying, we left the table at the end of our meals with every single dish we had used still sitting on our table. On one occasion I counted six tables close by that were unoccupied that still had dirty dishes on them. Although only two waiters they were certainly not rushing about. Getting a drink with lunch/dinner was also painfully slow. Both of us asked for water and we received one small bottle between the two of us. After our first visit to the restaurant my first impression was not a good one and it just got worse.
The evening entertainment is held just outside the restaurant with one small bar and a seating area which is a bit cramped with not enough seats. The entertainment starts with a kids disco which all the kids seemed to enjoy then there is two further acts. Quite a few of these involve birds or snakes then a singer. On the second night a Charlie Chaplin impersonator was on which I thought would be terrible but after watching him for a while he was actually quite funny. The only other act I seen that was good was The Beatles tribute. I have to say that we witnessed the worst entertainment act I have ever had the misfortune to see. Domonik was terrible. He was actually that bad he was funny and if you go to this hotel you have to go and watch him. Although the bar was quite small and busy, the bar staff were excellent. Always had a smile on their faces and were quick and efficient. We had paid for the premium brand drinks and there was a good selection of branded drinks.
On the morning of our first full day, we headed for the pool to get a sunbed before heading to breakfast. There is no need to rush early for a bed as there was plenty available and doesn't seem to get busy until about 10ish. The pool area (not the water) was quite dirty with a lot of spilt drink marks and cigarette buts around the place. I commented to my wife about this saying if it's as bad as this in April what would it be like in the height of summer? The pool area and the reception area was cleaned on the Wednesday morning and this was the only time we saw any cleaning work being carried out. I'm not saying the reception area wasn't cleaned but that was the only time we saw it. The pool area was only cleaned the once during our visit. This is unacceptable for a busy area and unhygienic.
Breakfast turned out to be the best meal of the day with a full cooked available. Unfortunately, by the Wednesday morning that had went downhill as well. the bacon and the sausage went from being well cooked to practically raw and we could not eat it. My wife had an omelette and when this was cooked the food is mixed in the same dish as other types of omelettes so if you don't like, say onions, the dish is never washed between choices. Cold meat and cheese for me.
Staying on the food side of things, one lunch time I had to have chips and chicken nuggets as anything else looked inedible. I am not a fussy eater but the choice was very poor. Beans were on choice one evening but were not used a lot and they ended up practically solid under the heat lights and looked terrible. The final straw came on the Mexican themed night when I went for the fajitas. The show cooking was the chicken fillets and when I returned to my table my wife said her chicken was raw. When I checked mine, it was cooked on the outside but in the middle was totally raw, NOT UNDERCOOKED, I took this to the head waiter who took it back to the chef!!! who proceeded to lift it from my plate with his fingers and went to give me another one. He was told where he could put that. The head waiter then gave me a thumbs up sign! At this point we went on Booking.Com and booked another hotel for our final two nights. We just couldn't stick it any longer.
During our full stay our towels in the room and bedding were not changed once. I went to reception to complain and ask for new towels and was informed these would be brought up but this never materialised. Also the room cleaning didn't seem to be up to scratch. We deliberately left a toothpaste mark on the bathroom floor and this was never cleaned.
When checking out the receptionist asked my wife why we were leaving and after a list of negatives about our stay, she just shrugged her shoulders. No apologies or effort to help.
There is more I could say about the hotel but everyone has different opinions about things. I overheard one person saying she thought the food was amazing so you have to make up your own mind. I would say that this hotel needs a good overhaul when it comes to cleanliness and food choice and cooking. I would place this as a three star at most and would have to say it is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and would definitely not be anywhere near it again.
