“Fantastic stay”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

Well what an amazing hols!!! We stayed at the Guayarmina for two weeks at the beginning of October. On arrival at the hotel we were a little dis-heartened to join a queue to check in, however, we were swiftly dealt with and were in our room within half an hr. We booked a junior suite and I have to highly recommend this as our view was a 180 degree beach view....perfect! The complimentary half bottle of red also went down nicely as well.

The hotel was spotless, from our suite, to the pools, to the restaurant. Yes, at times there were queues to get seated at the restaurant, but nothing as alarming as I have experienced at other AL hotels. You were politely and professionally taken to a table that would have clean linen and fully set. All the staff were amazing; always smiling, always greeting you and having a chat as they recognised you, and you felt they all genuinely meant it. The food was also delicious; plenty of choice at all times, with food constantly being replenished (no waiting around for dishes to be replaced) and as someone who sticks to a stricter diet I had no problem at all. Actually I will rephrase that, I did have a problem............keeping myself away very unsuccessfully from the gorgeous puddings!

We really did have a lovely holiday and it was made so by the whole team at the hotel, and this really is what they are.... a team, who strive to make your holiday as stress free and relaxing as possible. They should be proud of themselves!

The biggest compliment I can give to the hotel, therefore, is to say we will certainly be returning to the hotel again soon.

Recommendations- well as I have said previously a suite really is worth the upgrade. The beach bar in front of Little Italy restaurant is also is a must to relax with a fantastic cocktail and stretch back seats to enable you to enjoy the stars and listen to the waves. The cocktail bar within the hotel at night is a must as well, with the 'interesting' keyboard players. The water aerobics session daily was actually an experience I have never seen before, Usually the animacion team are dragging people in to take part. Believe me people were keen as at the this hotel and thoroughtly enjoyed themselves!

Improvements - I have had to stretch for these, but the fridge hire is a little excessive. It could be cheaper, if not free. Also balcony lights were on a timer which you could not over-ride. As someone who wakes in the night and likes to read out on the balcony for half an hr, this was not an option.

Tip - Do take your fridge key back from your room, don't leave it in the door at the end of your hols. You get 5 euros back (which was not made explicit to us when hiring the fridge).

Beautiful Hotel, Lovely setting, Excellent for an escape to winter sun. Our 7days were totaly relaxed, great food, comfortable rooms, and great hotel facilities.Would reccomend to coules or family alike. I find it difficult to fault much but one or two staff could do better both at Reception and Bar.

Don't let Thomson or anyone else kid you on that this is a 4 star hotel, at the very best it is good 3 star. Good quality hotels that have qualified for 4 stars do not charge for a fridge, a safe, to change your pool towels, and wi-fi, as a guide this will cost you an extra 100 euros for 7 days, outrageous. But worse than that Dick Turpin is alive and kicking in this hotel, they want 50 euros extra for a late check-out. Actually on that I don't blame the hotel, as it is apparent the Princess Group are hell bent on getting every penny possible out of you, this sits with the tour operator who could quite easily hide the cost in your overall holiday account particularly for those of us with an after 10pm departure home. At least the hotel offered a half hour slot in a room to get showered FOC, if you are like us and refused to pay the 50 euros. Nor do they only change bed linen once a week, unless you ask. Reception staff are less than helpful it took us two days to get the fridge repaired. What hotel only has a happy hour in one of the three bars available and the one furtherest away from the pool area. The pools themselves are tiny and not suitable for swimming. For children and those less stable on their feet there are uneven surfaces and trip hazards at every turn on every level in this hotel to say nothing of high slip marble surfaces in the public areas. Whilst the bedrooms are kept clean and the decor is fresh, the bathrooms are dark and very dated, in desperate need of refurbishment, certainly in the room we were in. The food is of good quality but eating in the dining room is bedlam with way too many people and queues for everything particularly in the evening, and exactly the same every day but then let's not forget the hotel has over 500 rooms so the scope of the catering has to be tailored accordingly given the sheer volume of food required to be served in a time bounded slot. The saving grace for this hotel is the convenient location for the beach, for strolling, shopping and frequent local bus services should your scene not be sitting on a sun bed from dawn to dusk. If you want a sun bed however be prepared at this time of the year to be laying down your towel in the dark! The Princess Group and the staff need to take a hard lesson from large hotels with far more rooms than this one on how to provide a real customer service experience.

Room Tip: Be sure to check which area in the hotel and on which floor before agreeing to accept. 2nd or 3rd fl...

An excellent hotel in a perfect location, from booking in at the Reception for a two week holiday, the whole experience was brilliant, found all the staff to be polite and friendly and extremely helpful and when we had a minor crisis we were very impressed with the calm and efficient way it was dealt with. Our room was very pleasant and clean, in fact we found the whole Hotel and pool area spotless. The pool area was much nicer than I had imagined and had no problem in getting a sunbed, parasol etc, whatever time we went, I've never seen so many sunbeds so really was spoilt for choice of where to lay. The food was excellent, so many choices and lots of it and never had to wait for a table. There was always somewhere to sit and relax and the pool bar on an evening was a particular favourite of ours.
Did think the charge for a safe and fridge was a bit steep, we have never had to pay for a safe in other hotels and the other thing I would do next time is to request a higher floor, our room overlooked the hotel next door and their air conditioning units were a little noisy and put us off sitting on the balcony, but that aside a perfect place to relax, very impressed with it all. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Higher floor opposite side to the Reception Desk

My third holiday in five years at this hotel and maybe a change is what I need. So good points first. At first glance an impressive hotel, typically grand reception area, great décor and ideally situated. Pool area is of good design but pools not deep enough for keen swimmers. lots of beds marred by the 6am brigade with their towels to claim prime positions you know the ones, 9pm to bed after viewing the free entertainment with the one half of lager. Room cleanliness was very good, restaurant staff were hard working and the food generally of good quality.
Now bad points in my opinion, My room was slightly dated, soon be ready for refurb, if you enjoy the telly, (I don't) these are dated and not good. the restaurant size is poor for the vast numbers of guests, with some queues forming at breakfast and more densely so at evening meal. Once seated you start to queue again for every item needed, you walk two steps forward, take one step back, slide to the left, slide to the right and criss cross with the words sorry to everyone you bump. there are two lifts to move people to all levels, not nearly enough.
Now the ugly. On allocation of a room the receptionist when asked would not give any indication of the views I could expect, but I soon found I was to view the bowels of the torviscas hotel, the kitchens and the noisy power plant. Be advised don't accept rooms 1010-1023, 2010-2023,3010-3023, if you can avoid it. their are worse rooms to be had though. Read trip advisor for recommended rooms and ask for by e-mail two to three weeks before you go, REMEMBER ask for the best, or get whats left.

Room Tip: read trip advisor for good rooms. E-mail for the best ,or get whats left. high rooms are best, close...

This is a great hotel with a great location right on the front at Costa Adeje. Staff great ....service great......food great.....We where on a half board basis which we found to be ample , and there are snacks available at the pool if you get peckish in the afternoon.

BUT....on a negative note we found the bed to be very hard and uncomfortable , not tea or coffee facility in the room (which we found very strange ), And you have to pay for WIFI, If the infrastructure of internet is in place within the hotel then i don't see where the 6 euro per day comes from......its there, its not costing you anymore or less to share your connection (rant over about WIFI ).

Other than that it was a great holiday and a great place to stay..

The hotel is in a lovely location. Food, entertainment and staff are excellent. We can understand why people go year after year. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are huge. The pool area is so well maintained and has great views over the coast. The restaurant is well organised and the food cover's something for every one's taste. The only down side is you do have to pay for the safe and fridge in your room. We hope to go back for a winter break.

Room Tip: Try not to get a room that over looks the car park. We heard a few people complain. We had room 119...
